Whether you agree or not, Australian players continue to dominate in India. They work hard, and it's only fair that they get paid well. Once again, it proves the premium value of Australian players. Too much money and i believe purses will only increase in the next 3-5 years. There is one formula for overseas players in the IPL. Beat the Indian team and perform against them and you'll be rewarded handsomely in the IPL so I think recency bias due to the WC did play its part, works even better if you are from BIG-2 (Eng +Aus).

Patel's last season was horrible but he is an Indian seamer and will play all the matches (the main reason because of supply and demand), in a majority of his appearances he did alright and also had a couple of good seasons but overall i agree, he surely doesn't deserve anything over 6-8 crore.
