Yes, if Kenya had been consistent since 2003, they would have been a much better team than West Indies or Zimbabwe at the moment because they had the experience of beating big teams. ICC is not doing anything to prioritize any potential team. There are currently 85 countries in the ICC Cricket Ranking list. This situation seems that they are interested in adding more countries to cricket just for quantity. But what they really deserve that is not clear. ICC needs to give special facilities to those who love cricket and those who truly try to develop their cricket.

How can they be consistent when they were not allowed to play against full members during the 2003-2007 period? They played a few matches during the 2003 World Cup. The next opportunity came during the 2007 World Cup. In between they played zero matches in 4 years against full members. And the funding actually went down during the same period. And the so called 85 "associate member" list is a myth. At least 60-65 of these teams doesn't have a single citizen in the team and are entirely comprised of tourists and students from India/Pakistan.

I don’t think Kenya is going to reach the same level that they did back in 2003. At least they are not going to reach that level any time soon for sure. The ICC is the only reason why a lot of teams like Kenya have not been able to improve at all.

Basically, in 2003, I believe it was the Srinivasan Pawar mafia in the power of the ICC. Maybe they thought that giving the test status to a country right beside India was going to give them a better market for cricket.

Remember at that time Bangladesh was not a good team. So probably the thought that Bangladesh cannot play well themselves so they are going to watch cricket matches of India. That is going to generate more revenue.
Everything is possible to achieve in this current world with Kenya can achieve their best again but now here they need to work on few things with domestic setup and development of their players is very important, and they never need to rely on ICC because they also need to work on this by themselves as well because now recently we have good changes in this and investment is also coming which is important for the game and countries as well.

If ICC is not going to help them, African countries need to work on few things which surely can bring good development and changes for many countries which are involved in this game, franchise league is surely good way of having good funds and any African league which have a good number of teams can bring good intention and money as well.

Kenya of 2003 was a very strong team. Some of their players, like Steve Tikolo and Maurice Odumbe were as good as any of the full member players. They defeated full members like India and West Indies multiple times. During the 2003 World Cup, they defeated Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in the same tournament. At this point, the ICC could have increased fund allocation for them and provided more chances against full members. But after the 2003 World Cup, they never played against a full member nation until the 2007 ODI World Cup. On the other hand, Bangladesh was provided with a lot of support both by the ICC and by the BCCI.

Kenya was in good position earlier, and the performance have went downwards. The team have played 5 World Cups, and later it had big break. The new team and the new players are once again forming the team better. However the team losing its one off tournaments against Botswana and Uganda is really unexpected. Once again Kenya to play against Botswana tomorrow, and this time Kenya needs to win the match. Cricket is much on Asia and now getting widespread around Africa and other parts of the world is a needed one for now.
The players themselves lost interest in the game as a result of lack of support from the ICC. This is what happened to Kenya. Anyway, to their credit, Kenya has finished at no.2 in the group stage. They won 6 out of the 9 matches to finish with 12 points. But at this point, Uganda seems to be the strongest team from East Africa region. They managed to win 8 out of their 9 matches. The final will be played tomorrow at Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi. BTW, many thanks to International League T20. They are the organizers of this event. They sponsored this event, to show their commitment towards global expansion of cricket.

The level of cricket that is being played by different countries compared to 20 years back is much progressive. So, no one will be expecting such a reach from Kenya. The power holders always want to take advantage and this continues forever. We don't know what exactly the power Mafia were thinking, but they were much tricky thinkers and the politics continues forever. ICC have destroyed more teams that have made good progress in the past. Kenya and Zimbabwe can be added to the list.

Rainfall surely makes some changes to the pitch. Everything covered, still the continuity break along with the match favouring a team will have its impact on the next two days. St some point the rain stopped and the covers were removed. However after several inspection of the pitch and the ground, the match for the day is ended. For now it is like Australia have got control of the match due to the losing of England's openers. Lets see what happens on the 4th day of the match.

England is currently leading by 235 runs. They have three wickets in hand. Right now, the second session of day-4 is going on. If England does not give Australia at least a target of 300. I believe Australia is going to get to the target easily since they will have a whole day and one session to reach the target. But it looks like England will probably not be able to give a target of 300 or more.

As I am writing this, England has lost one more wicket. The lead is now 240. I think the target is going to be somewhere near 250/260 in the end.

Right now England have lost all their wickets and have only one wicket left. England have collected 264 runs in the second season so far on the fourth day. If England could have scored 300 today, they would have been ahead. But it is not possible that England will never score 300 runs in this match they have only one wicket in hand. England will not be able to reach their target in the match if they can score 300 runs today then victory is guaranteed. But at the moment, England's score is 264 runs, 9 wickets in 64 overs. If they can survive the match at the end, it seems that England will give Australia a target of 280 runs.

AUS taken advantage of the bad weather, bowling out both of ENG opening batsmen. It’s amazing how quickly the pendulum can swing. Rain came at the wrong time for ENG, it’s still a very finely balanced First Test but perhaps slightly in AUS favour now.

Everything is going to depend on how England is going to recover from this situation. England should be able to recover. The Lord is also going to depend on how the track is going to behave the next day. If England be unable to play properly and bat properly on this track, I don’t think it is going to be easy for the Australian batters either. England did well to not let Australia take the lead in this match so far.

But even though Australia is not leading on the scoreboard, they are certainly leading in terms of mentality right now. But England still got eight wickets in hand. So they are not going to give up easily and will try to roast a good total for Australia to chase. Right now it looks like Australia has the upper hand but the situation will change quickly in my opinion. England will have to keep wickets in hand. The main priority in the next day for England should be not to lose early wickets.

Kenya was like a stepping stone to the African continent for cricket. In Zimbabwe and South Africa, even now the game is being dominated by the whites and not by the blacks. Kenya was different, because most of their players were Black African. With a little bit of support from the ICC, the game could have expanded more and they would have become a powerhouse in cricket. But then the ICC had other ideas. They diverted funds to countries such as the USA and UAE, and the excuse was that Kenya was not a major economy.

ICC must give preference to teams that have 100% native players and that's not the case with UAE and other gulf countries. Kenya was in 2003 world cup semis and today they are not even seen in any icc tournament. They have gone down to level that they are playing in a 4 team African cup with team like Uganda. The point is such team should have gone up in performance with time rather then lost in the darkness.

Nepal is playing really well. They seem to be achieving 300 and giving Zimbabwe a good score to chase.

If we talk about the situation that ICC is creating right now, I think we will have to say that the ICC should do better. ICC needs to acknowledge that the performance which the teams that have only native players in the squad are putting on is actually far better compared to the performance that are being put on by the teams that have foreign players in the team. And not acknowledging the fact that the teams which have only native players in the team are actually having better growth than the teams which have foreign players in the team are the biggest barrier on the way to their improvement.

Kenya has to be patient. They do not have very good support. That’s the unfortunate reality. They will have to get the experience they can get from this tournament. They will have two ask the ICC for better funding. And hope that the ICC does listen to them.
Even Kenya is again doing good in cricket, but sadly it's all not enough for them to have better results in near future days because they need good funds which are not coming from ICC and domestic system is also not providing any support they need to work on organization like Asian Cricket council which surely can increase their speed of improvement because now we have the good number of countries from African region those are doing good in cricket but right now African region is having their main focus on soccer which is surely giving them good funds and world-class soccer players but if they start this also on grass root then surely we can bring good changes in this game from this region which could be good for the game and these countries as well even they work on just T20i because right now this is surely entertaining format.

The sad part is Kenya will have to perform and prove themselves to even get an increased amount of funds from the ICC. Meanwhile, we have associate nations who are making the whole team out of foreign players and still getting a good amount of money. I absolutely do not understand this. Are they being the victim of racism? Because after all they are the only true black team in cricket. The African region is not getting any attention. I believe that is being done very intentionally. This is done so that the top four teams have the advantage.

Kenya could've been in a better position, but things didn't go well with Kenya team and there is no big support from the ICC. Kenya have played more matches against the full members compared to other small teams. It needs more improvement. Today in the match against Botswana the team had lost the match by 30 runs. Botswana won the toss and managed to score 145 runs and Kenya were able to reach 115 runs while chasing the target.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Kenya was the team which was making cricket look interesting to the black people, the black African people to be precise. And we very rarely see black players in Zimbabwe and South African teams. Junior was looking to make a difference, but they became the victim of bad politics and racism In my opinion.

The 90s was really dark period in world cricket due to match-fixing, many teams were facing at least some sort of allegations and Pakistan was on top in this regard so there might be some truth to it.

We know how many match-fixing allegations were popping up against the Indian players and some proved to be correct.
Yeah.. it was a very turbulent period. Dawood and his gang were openly fixing matches with tacit approval from the boards. He used to visit the stands at Sharjah cricket stadium, when the matches were in progress and no one would say anything. After a lot of outcry, 2-3 Indian players were handed down suspensions (Jadeja, Azharuddin.etc) for their role in match fixing. But nothing happened to them. After a few years these bans were overturned and the fixers got plum posts within the state cricket boards. It was the small fish like Cronje and Boje who got punished. Cronje even lost his life in a very suspicious accident. A few years later, Bob Woolmer also died under mysterious circumstances.
No one can do anything against these mafias because they have strong influence and power around the globe which works for them and with this all they can bring changes in anywhere specially in Asian region because here we have not strong judicial system and mostly political parties are also involved in this dirty game as well which is another story but as we have too much involvement in this game few decades back now all shifted due to new franchise system which is much better and safer for these mafias.

Recently we have still many rumors about few things, but now it's all mostly for the media intention because balance of power is completely balances and things are happening through top level which is giving all parties their share, so now we have no voices about this all.
TBH now the situation is much better compared to a couple of decades back. We hardly get to hear the big scale of the spot-fixing drama.

ICC anti corruption unit doing an alright job in this regard. Players are briefed regularly and from time to time they come forward if someone contacts them, sure this problem can't be cured completely but it's manageable atm or maybe Fixing-system became too sophisticated.
