I had friend who downloaded a mining application from his tablet. I am just confuse if is it legit or not? If not, is possible in some ways? How?

Thank you guys for your ideas.

It will really be impossible for a tablet to mine bitcoin, even GPUs are not profitable if you will use it to mine bitcoin. You have to verify it first if that application don't have any malwares just to make sure, or maybe they will ask you to do some payments first and will eventually scam you.

Idk but i found it on my facebook home, he just use unused tab for mine.. and it's free he said

Yes, it's monero, altcoin mining. But the risk to break your phone due to over heat and push the cpu, it's not worth.
People can't mine bitcoin easily through CPU, GPU, browser phone or tablet as it's not profitable and not worth at all compare to the risk, you need real hardware such as antminer s9 to mining bitcoin. Just simply like that.

I have heard that there are some apps that allow you to mine with your mobile or tablet, but I haven't seen or try any. Friend of mine have tried a mobile app, and from what he said it was legit. He was able to mine some small amount, but because it was too low amount he quited fast. I would suggest to you, don't waste your time and resources on that. It is just waste of time, or you can try it and see for your self.

Possible but not efficient. You are better using that tablet in many other things except mining. If you want to mine, I suggest you use an ASIC miner.

I think many android devices actually mine, but without knowledge of their owners - botnets
There's no known Android mining botnet that is operational. But if there is, you most likely can't get it on your device provided that you use trusted sources for apps such as Google Play. Unless you download some app that manages to slip through Google's checks. There was a botnet with over 300 Play Store apps that was taken down in August.

And to answer OPs question, there probably are some mining apps for android that are legit. You will kill your device and NEVER make anything by using them.

That's actually very interesting! Botnets are dead... mmm

Some apps do mining like Coin Pot but it's always recommend to use a computer or laptop. I personally tried with my android phone it freezes every time if I open particular app only for mining. Smiley Smiley Smiley

There are some legit mining application and we can used browser to mine bitcoin but some of them are only scam you only waste your time and it will harm you gadget that is why this is not recommended if you want to mine for long period of time. Much better to build your mining hardware and buy good quality of equipment.

I think if he mines Electroneum then I should say I guess it’s legit since there is also altcoins that also requires android phone or ios, because if we push to mine coins that needs to have huge capital then that is hard since mining is really expensive to have.

It's probably a scam as there's no way to know if the developer is actually skimming your hashes off the top and sending them to his own pool. But if it isn't then it's still probably not worth it since you'd eventually wear out your hardware or the cost of electricity would be more than the money you'd make.

So if you got devices you don't care about and free power, you might be able to make a couple pennies  Wink

So try and tell us if it is available, then why is it illegal. The only drawback is that it can be pirated, then of course very scant and limited not worth any attention.

The best mining for now is  using hardware of gpu, but the app of tablet is possible because of technology of bitcoins, many case in mining is use gpu not popular an apps to mining btc. in next next year no matter what happen the technology of mining is possible an app and not to gpu too.

Here we go, once again,...
No, it's very, very unwise to mine bitcoins with your GPU, your CPU, your phone's GPU, your phone's CPU, a tablet, a supercomputer, your fridge, pen and paper,...
There are devices being produced that have the sole purpose of creating sha256d hashes, they're called ASIC's (they should be called sha256d ASIC's, since the term ASIC in itself is also applicable in other branches).
These ASIC's are so efficient, they pushed the difficulty so high it's impossible to make any money mining anything but the latest gen ASIC.

Don't belief me, here are the calculations for some CPU/GPU's => https://www.mocacinno.com/nonspecialisedmininghardware.php

Idk but i found it on my facebook home, he just use unused tab for mine.. and it's free he said

This, i can believe... This is not bitcoin mining, but altcoin mining. Monero is known to be CPU minable, however, personally, i wouldn't risk breaking my phone for a couple of bucks a month.

I think you can mine bitcoin on tablet but consider the consequences when mining bitcoin, it consumes so much energy of your tablet, like in computer which is also plug into the electricity if you really want to mine on your tablet and charge it while mining there's a tendency that your tablet will explode or be broken. That's why mining is not applicable in tablets or smartphones although many apps in google play that say's you can mine bitcoin using your phone just read the reviews on it before you try that app so that your time wont be wasted installing that app. Grin

It absolutely waste of time buddy because mining needs more hash powers to get good rewards even the powerful CPU can't get the rewards how do you think that you can get rewards using mobile or tablet. So its better to invest some money to get good rewards.

This is probably what the original poster's friend downloaded to mine,
https://cryptosoft.org/

They claim to have an ability to stake mine with their system.
Mine what

That is not what I checked into. Embarrassed

Maybe their own ethereum based tokens. Roll Eyes
I do not know because as soon as I saw mining from just downloading an app

I switched off. Lips sealed

Thank you guys for your ideas.

You are missing a few key points.

1) Are they saying they are using your phones power to mine?
2) Are they selling cloud mining?
3) Is it just a game?

If 1 is the answer then it is a lie. This does not exist yet.
If 2 is the answer then it is most likely a scam. (even reputable companies in the past turned out to be scams) Just be careful
If 3 is the answer then it probably is legit.

Don't worry it's legit.Use Gridcoin and you can mine on any number of mixed devices, I have a powerful PC on Win10, an old laptop on Win10, x2 galaxy S6 Android, an Xperia z4 tablet Android, a Pi3 on Linux, a Pi2 on Raspian and even on my mums PC when she runs it. The only devices you can't use are iPhone or iPad, cos of Apple licencing.
