Hi!

Let me act here on behalf of Tangem for a while. We will add an official account in a few days to interact with the Bitcointalk Community.
We want to help with the limited edition Bitcointalk card. Let's make something cool together.

For us, the most expensive part of small orders cost is the card's artwork. That's why we allow customizing only the logo and colors for the small orders. Our external design studio is cool but too expensive for the 1k order design.
If we find some guys who can handle the design, we can allow more options for customization of the 'limited edition' Bitcointalk cards. I will prepare and share some tech details on the next week.

On our side, we can open pre-sale of the limited edition cards via our website to raise initial funds for the manufacturing.

At $5 I wouldn't mind ordering 100 of these and handing these out to my nephews and nieces and their friends who are heading to college and spread the awareness of BTC and get more people involved in the collecting world..

The Stone the masons rejected was the cornerstone.
I don't know if there is a potential for a collectible object. But definitely a very good thing to promote the usage of hardware wallet (imo should be the case for ALL crypto holders) and ofc of Bitcointalk.

Just filled an order.. should have news from them in the next days.

Did you fill an order for 1000 custom cards? If so what design modifications will be implemented on these cards?

Looking forward to owning a few custom ones as I have ordered every item they had for sale thru the years.

I really like the idea of a Bitcointalk tangem card! IMO Tangem is for now the best technology for this kind of wallet.

I totally agree. Private keys are embedded inside the card, hence there is no trust issue here (except of course trusting the Tangem company).

You can load & unload funds, pass the card multiple times to multiple different people, and never worry about the private key get exposed. I cannot recall if there is any other similar product that allows you to do the same. In opendime, you need to "break" it in order to reveal the private key and hence send funds. In hardware wallets, you always need your seed word or you PIN  for sending funds (and hence you cannot pass those to other people along with your hardware wallet)

IMO one of the best offline crypto storage means of exchange (i.e. pass crypto funds, like old dirty fiat bills, without the need of the blockchain verification). Also very convenient, since with a single "tap" of the card you can instantly see the status of the card (total funds, if it was prior redeemed etc.)

total cost is $5 each (for 1000 minimum order) + 40$/50$ shipping + taxes.

reselling them for $8-$10 each (+shipping) might be enough for covering the initial  ordering investment (even if you do not sell all of them)

Problem I see is that with 1000 custom cards there may not be a premium for collectors for years if ever.

That's true. However, this is not a "strictly" collectible item. Is something that you can actually use (usability), instead of just collecting it. It's not like placing an order for 1000 paper wallets, which you can load them once, seal private key with a holo and that's it.

Similarly to hardware wallets: You might want to acquire a limited edition version for collectable purposes. However, you might want to get an additional one for everyday usage

I like the idea of a custom card. Cant go wrong with that price.

Also, it would be nice if they could individually serialize them.
Or a date and only serialize the first 10 with a date and number and auction/raffle those.

I have some time to take care of this project. If 10 trusted users, like BitcoinNewsMagazine, give here a signal of interest for 50 cards, I will order the cards and take care of the delivery to everyone.

Doing that only for fun and as a kind of donation for the forum. So I will sell the cards at purchase price plus delivery fees ofc.

There are collectors here who could order 1000 custom cards at $5 each but I doubt any one person could justify reselling at cost. Even selling at $12.25 a card (that's the cost per card if you order a trial kit) plus shipping might not be worth the time involved in selling 1000 cards unless it was to promote your brand or store.

A group buy with a minimum order? Maybe with 50 people buying 20 cards apiece. Problem I see is that with 1000 custom cards there may not be a premium for collectors for years if ever. If someone organized a group buy for a cool looking custom card I would not have a problem ordering 20 for $250 (nothing wrong with making a profit for your time if you organize the group buy.) Thoughts?

Some really great ideas here! Just a thought..Theymos wanted to do a bitcointalk coin, that has seemingly faded out. Maybe if the card had a bitcointalk logo on it (sort of piggybacking off Tweetious’s sponsor idea) he would be willing to post a buy link on the front page. Maybe tack on a few satoshis which could then be donated to the forum? Just an idea..

also, for those that are unaware of what those Tangem cards are, here is a nice description:

"Tangem Notes are highly secure smart cards carrying cryptocurrencies on a recently developed EAL6+ SecurCore microchip from Samsung Semiconductor. Once loaded, they can be used as cash — handed over to other people for physical transactions or for extremely secure cold storage of digital assets.

The value can be extracted at any time by signing a transaction from the Tangem Note to an arbitrary wallet. This requires a compatible NFC–enabled Android phone and is protected by a 60–second security delay. iPhone can be used only for card validation and balance check.

Private keys cannot be imported or exported from Tangem Notes under any circumstance. No backup possible — by design. Each Tangem Note creates its own private keys and can never disclose them. The value is completely tied to the physical chip. Loss, theft, or destruction of a Tangem Note will result in loss of funds."

After further inspection of the order process we can customize the following:

Color on the right hand side of the card (the stripe).
Add a logo on the left side of the card (max 3 colors and it can't be gradient).
Add a name on the back of the card (Bitcointalk.org, for example).
Decide if it should show the loaded value (if we want loaded value on the cards, I thought 0.001 or so could be nice).

Something to be done but just so we know it can't be completely custom.

$5 each (for a 1000 order) is an affordable price.  I have some of those cards, and the technology underneath is innovative.

Also, it would be nice if they could individually serialize them. I can see that there is a serial number on each card. I was wondering if the last 4 digits of the serial number could be  #0001-#1000

That would be a very nice collectable, for the bitcointalk community, and with the $5 price tag (+ shipping fees + taxes etc.), could also attract users from outside the Collectibles section as well.

The only issue is that 1000 pieces are a lot, and there might be difficult to sell/distribute all of them

edit: GO for it!!! Personally, I am definitely interested in getting some. Prolly we could do some kind of interest check, and raise some funds to place the initial order

edit2: some users might want to partially sponsor the initial batch of cards, by putting their logo at the back of the card. (ie. logos of mantis warehouse, physibit etc. etc.)  . Hence, the price per card might get even lower.

At $5 a pop I'd say it would be easy to make an order for 1,000 of the suckers. Could give the designer 50 cards or whatever too if people would vote for it Smiley.

You can just order four cards in a Tangem Trial Kit directly for $49.
Yes, but those aren't custom cards. I can see how it would be cool to have one that is designed just for the forum.

I personally think that it’s doable and would be a great idea .
I remember this thread ,but it unfortunately died a death for some reason.

Sorry if it’s a bit off topic .

If the TANGEM cards can be done for THIS year , go for it

I am still a bit upset that Satori closed shop right as we were getting ready to make a custom chip for the community. I loved the idea of all the great artists we have here (not me) entering a "competition" for the chip design.

With that said, Tangem allows for a custom card order.  I am guessing this wont be feasible, as you've got to order a minimum of 1k cards.  However I figured I'd ask anyhow. I know some people would likely want quite a few for themselves, some have crypto shops they'd like a few stacks for, etc.

Any chance this is doable? Again guessing not, but thought I'd bring it up anyhow...
