I read about TEKcoin thanks to tokyoghetto on his famous HBN investment journal. I see that TEKcoin has a 480% interest rate per year, that's truly impressive for fire-and-forget people like me (I am not good at day-trading, that's for sure).

Four questions:
- Is there any coin with a higher interest rate than this one?
- Why this coin was created? To get the highest interest rate or there is more to it? I suppose the goal is to discourage any attempt at selling, even at high prices (or only the result of your stake) and I guess there is a coin-control wallet, right?
- Why a shacoin? Sha is much more energy-hungry that scrypt If tek was created now, I would use X11 for the purpose of energy efficiency (or CryptoNight if CPU draws less energy than GPU, which I don't know). Maybe the least energy-intensive would be an scrypt-ASIC (scrypt has a lower energy footprint than SHA and ASIC are more efficient than anything else)
- Where is the source for the wallet? Where is the Linux wallet?

Thank you.

The goal for me is to keep compounding coins and own a large share of the coin.  Others might be more into day trading etc, but do what you like best.

I am not sure if sha256 is the most efficient, but it is widely used which adds a bit more security to the blockchain.

You can find the official source code on the repo https://github.com/maxxine/TEK
I have added a few features to the wallet and it can be found at this repo https://github.com/presstab/TEK

The linux and windows wallets are compiled from the same source code.

New wallet version coming soon.

v1.1 adds fixed icons, qt5 compatibility, and I also had my graphic designer friend work on completely redesigning all of the wallet buttons.  Should be a nice facelift for the wallet.

Then next time please think about the HBN buttons, too. I think, the HBN wallet design is the only thing that's not perfect in it. Smiley

Which buttons?? The multi-wallet window?

Hi, can smn help me to set up the wallet, no way to sync

You need to download the blockchain from this source https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0M-bp2HC0eYdXlqc0RQWkFFRnc/edit?usp=sharing

Copy the files into your appdata directory - if you are unfamiliar with the process then check this link http://wiki.hobonickels.info/index.php?title=Replace_Blockchain

Think I found the original source code from the cryptocointalk thread.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0M-bp2HC0eYMWtrNVAtVG02dmc/edit?usp=sharing

I did try that one, same deal.

Wherever the source is for this one from the original thread, that is what we need.

I am guessing that is the original source and the funky with colors was where it forked?

nice, didn't realise it wasn't working properly (i am still unlocking into the wallet console )
i have a question about inflation tought: could anyone explain to me how the pos rate plays a role into it (i read more and more people saying that the hight the pos rate the higher the inflation is but i don't really understand what it means)

Well you have to think about it this way. Inflation would be the value of the coin decreasing over time.  Right now the value of the coin has been increasing over time, so no inflation is occurring.

Although the stake rate is aggressive, the PoW rewards are not aggressive. Only 525k coins will be added from PoW every year. Compare this to a coin like dogecoin that adds millions of coins a year. Also keep in mind that most of the tekcoins are not being staked.

So some might worry about high inflation, but so far tekcoin has had nice deflation.  Also keep in mind that if all the holders of tek start staking, that as PoS difficulty goes up, the PoS rate will go down. It is coded that if the PoS difficulty jumps up enough that the PoS rate could get as low as 1%.  So there are safeguards against huge inflation.  But as always, make your own analysis and decide what is best for you.

I was correct, the problem is now fixed. Please do beware that the "unlock wallet" will not permanently decrypt the wallet, it will only unlock the wallet during that particular session. So you would need to unlock wallet each time you start up the client. I can investigate changing this in the future, but I am guessing it is complicated.

I updated the latest release (v1.0.1) to have the corrected build. Give it a try and let me know what you think.  Find the link in my signature.

Made a real quick revision to the v1.0 of my wallet, had a few things bugging me.

Fixed splash screen - added unlock wallet - added QR code

https://github.com/presstab/TEK/releases/tag/v1.0.1

i went to menu, unlock wallet, nothing happens...

Was the wallet locked at the time?

@presstab

Thanks for all your effort. Outstanding work man!

Just tested it, wallet is locked, I clicked the unlock for pos in the menu and nothing happens.
Ofeefee this new button really is in testing right now. I added it to the source code without being completely finished and tested so it was part of the updated release because I didn't want to go back and remove it for more testing.  I will go through the code of it more thoroughly and hopefully get it working soon.

Right now I think the problem may stem from line 282 of tekcoingui.cpp in the presstab repo.  I think the formint needs to be deleted.  I will change and compile later today.
