Friends,
We all witnessed the horrific rally of bitcoin that made it do over 11 times in a period of less than a year, but few people on the telegram are spreading hoax as well as doing "false" cross promotions by creating misconceptions among users that bitcoin went to 8000 and will go down more. They are doing all this through their channels and this is one worst thing that could destroy the image of bitcoins in new investors' views as they don't know much about it and will probably not check out the real picture. I don't know why such channels are not banned on Telegram but I will try my best to report each and every group that does their cross promotion with such bullshit content.

we should not worry too much. There are many other news sources about bitcoin and crypto other than telegram instead of telegram only but still many others. And fuds also exist now

Someone else has done something like that, but I think we anonymous here in the bitcointalk forum. We should be careful because such people are scammer, but thank you very much for being able to avoid others too, but I will arrange and read your telegram channel carefully so that it can be changed and you have nothing to worry about.

Yes,personally to newbie when join in airdrop.cause now so many project about airdrop and so many account and wallet stolen after they follow airdrop.actually airdrop project must join with telegram.its ok if the project not scam.but maybe different if project scam and admin for airdrop project is scam too.and once,to many bot on telegram now ^^

I know what you mean, I have seen such groups and stayed away from this airdrop business after I saw all the shitposts, thats not for me. I suggest, no matter what you do: never click a link in telegram. This is only phishing and is heavily promoted by scammers through telegram. Its just disgusting and I would love to see all those scammers computers and phones infected with heavy viruses that just eliminate their hardware. That would be awesome.

I think not only on the telegram is a lot of content that is very ugly and only harmful. it is possible to do so only to gain profit and to be very detrimental. with the information here many participants should be more careful when join in telegram.

I do not see a problem with that. The author - get yourself a channel on a telegram and write that bitcoin tomorrow will cost $ 15,000. To follow or not follow panic purchases or sales is the decision of each particular trader.

yes you are absolutely right pal Wink

@Stedsm
You will be hearing more of these FUD news from all these fake channels when the price goes higher and if you are going to listen to those,no comments what so ever, all of them are just key board warriors just vomiting things without even having any clue what they are telling and if you are going to listen to those,no one could help you,i am not sure how reporting those channels will help in removing those channels, rather than quitting them yourself .

I mean even in telegram scammers are everywhere and could attack anywhere at anytime. Your right a countermeasure should be set against these people because if continously attact victims many more of our fellow bitcoin users will be dismayed in the bitcoin community.

Almost any person with a good basic knowledge in crypto can open up a telegram group and make tons of members join it from the social media.
Yes it is absolutely wrong to use social media for such bad things as spreading wrong information but the world id full of scammers and it depends on us whether to believe them or not. Bitcoin price can easily be seen on the internet and one doesn't have to believe on others as crypto is volatile and any predictions made on the speculation of coins is purely an assumption.

Those people can't effect the image of bitcoin in anyway . Everybody knows already that bitcoin is unstoppable and even if the price goes down it will recover shortly. Real bitcoin investors will do much more than just listening to what bs telegram channels are saying.

You really overestimate the impact of those channels.
Probably you're also a little too much involved at emotional level.

The world is not going to be influenced by some bots or stupid kids and their spam.
Most of the telegram channels have over inflated user numbers, I've seen a lot of them in which bots and fake accounts make more than 99% of the users there. The rest is the admin and his persona Smiley))
5k telegram members can be bought with 50$ which they make by begging ICOs for free token in exchange of spam.

Besides, do you think there are people so stupid they check one channel and decide to sell?
I miss the btc-e trollbox in this case.

I know that people can be bought but what about some trollboxes (at telegram itself) where these people do their promotions with the same content to gain some members really subscribe to their channels seeing the number of members they have? It's not like everyone knows about the bot thing and I am  glad you guys evaluated it here. But you really can't deny the fact the those who are not aware or least aware about bitcoins (like newbies whom I'm mainly focusing in this debate) may get dragged to some misleadings and be made to do what they are not expecting to. As well, it's not some kind of an "emotional attachment" of mine with those channels but it's my duty to come up and disclose such wrongdoings going on there in order to prevent users from getting fake information.

Thanks for the information mate. This is not the first time that this kind of things will happen because some group have created a false video about bitcoin on youtube before and I think the people behind this are the people which bitcoin some affect their altcoin or investment. So they are doing it in other for bitcoin to fail and I suggest we also find a way to evangelize bitcoin in a good way that will energize people and the investor.

Thank you so much for your great concern to your fellow bitcoiners. But don't be so worried. There are many sources of news regarding bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies other than telegram. And fuds are always everywhere. So it's almost common everyday. New comers will get used to it. Anyway, I'm glad that this community has people whose concern with others. Just keep it up mate.

I say bring it on! The price just went up to $10500 yells yeah!! Bitcoin is great and will swallow you whole. This is no problem and only very stupid people will believe this. People who cannot type "how much is Bitcoin worth?" into Google will fall for this and if you can't do that you need to honestly go back to school. Why do people even fall for this? People are really so clueless with their money? You can't afford to be this clueless.

could be an botnet spreading fud/fomo to try and jungle the market for day trading

I don't believe these are bots, and even if they are, I strongly believe we need to get such channels stopped (banned) from working because this will probably harm the prestige of bitcoin it has gained throughout its 8 years of success. More and more people join telegram daily through the forum itself with the need to gain more knowledge on how to trade bitcoins, and they end up getting these "fake" news from such channels. I really can't believe that just to gain more users and get more money through them by alluring them that they could make more with their so-called paid channel, these bastards will just do anything ridiculous and break all the levels of meanness.  Angry
If they are really bots and someone just starts and stops them (with a push of a button) then you have little chance to win in this situation. We need to have something like bittrex or one of the exchanges has announced that they will pay attention to these groups and take the necessary actions against them.
People can be influenced easily yet, because this is like the first step of an educational process. When people face new things, at first they can easily fall for the unknown, because they don't have the necessary knowledge. When people are educated enough, they won't listen to these channels anymore.

Ignorance is never an excuse for stupidity especially in this world. If you have internet access then you have no excuse.

Good thread. Actually I become more and more sick of Telegram usage. Dont get me wrong I love this App and the easy communication that it enables us. This brought crypto forward in my opinion. But the malicious usage backfires now. Seems that there are so many people promoting such channels and groups, luring newbs in these chats then to send them phishing links to get their private keys etc. Its disgusting. Somebody (Telegram staff imo, dont know who else could) should do something against this development of Telegram.
