I don't expect Tesla to do this. But Elon Musk has been playing on his twitter lately and talking about cryptocurrencies like DOGE and BITCOIN. Even had time to write #bitcoin on his twitter bio and then delete it.
Tesla provides FOMO on the current Bitcoin market. Bitcoin is able to hit new ATHs again and again. this will be new history. $ 50,000 would be easy to get to and Bitcoin is on the hype right now.

Elon is a sly dog, shilling DOGE on Twitter to create a diversion whilst he quietly accumulates bitcoin. This is the start of the institutional run to bitcoin. Bezos next maybe? This is just the start of this bull run, it’s going to be epic boys & girl!
While I think that people are a bit too market-ignorant to blindly follow the shills of big names on Twitter(Elon, Winklevi, etc), I really didn't like their shilling of DOGE. If they were to shill an asset, at least shill something that's not a meme, and something that they actually have their money in.

Elon Musk has been buying bitcoin for a very long time, not to mention that it is not possible to buy $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin and not see the price go up at least $10k. the market is big but not $1.5 billion big. on most exchanges it would have only taken a couple of millions to break the $40k resistance.
It's most definitely OTC though. The same way Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy did it.

Did you like the doge commercial somebody made with Elon's voice explaining how it will be the currency of the earth? Cheesy

Here is a bit of fun before the BTCig game begins in 5 hours from now!

He does like to troll his followers hard though.

Though $TSLA's marketcap is a whopping $807 billion, a $1.5 billion allocation to bitcoin with their $19.3 billion cash on hand is definitely nothing to scoff at. That's a 7.77% allocation. Hot damn.
GMO, a Japanese company in 2017 accepted bitcoin and paid salary in bitcoin.

Buy real estate with Bitcoin in Dubai, in 2017.

The investment and Tesla acceptance for bitcoin is big but intrinsically it is used same as GMO and Aston Plaza and Residences news.

kudos to Elon. quite a big move and a huge risk for his company. that being said this event is great publicity for bitcoin. Elon fanatics that haven't thought of investing in bitcoin might consider it now.

in any case this is another thing with bitcoin, a lot of rich people have been buying bitcoin for years without letting anyone know it. Elon Musk is only one of many who made his actions public. there are lots more that not only never let anyone know but also spread FUD about bitcoin because it is extremely difficult to buy billions of dollars worth of bitcoin and not force the price to go up.

So maybe Elon was already buying btc and doge even before the time that he was tweeting about crypto. And now, we are hearing that they just invested in bitcoin. I believe he also has a bunch of doge in his crypto portfolio and other important alts. Really great news to the crypto community, big boost in bitcoin price, finally surpassing the 41k mark.
Every tweet he has done have had an effect or moved these markets of those assets either in a positive or a negative way.
So there is not denying that he does have an influence on anything he mentions about on his platforms or in podcasts.
I think cointelegraph said upon this news breaking it had caused bitcoin to break it's all time high.
I wonder what doge is at now since there was supposedly a superbowl commercial of it with his voice over in the background.
I first thought it was a parody made by a youtuber but then some people have said they saw the advert on their feed.
So don't know what to believe now. Embarrassed

Well, the hint was probably been laid here: https://www.twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1340581313406001153 and I think this isn't a single transaction cause if it did then congratulations to the lucky miner that can mined this block, but I think it's a series of buy-ins. Wondering if we really need some TA or just Elon? This is a great news and hello $50k maybe in the coming days or next week. #HODL

This is for all naysayers who said BTC will never reach $100K, I'm more positive than ever, but first $50K!
What does it have anything to do with Tesla or other private companies investing billions. The price will rally on hearing these news and you need to be careful as you never know when they will be booking the profit. I am also looking for an opportunity to book my profit and and so does everyone in the market and will see how long this rally will last  Tongue.

Invest in bitcoin and THEN pump it.  All of a sudden your company is worth more than it was before.  that is cheating.

Since Tesla, Inc. is a public company and has a crap ton of investors around the world, they're required to report their financials. So they pretty much had to mention their Bitcoin purchase in their recent SEC filing[1] taking note that $1.5 billion is a significant amount of money.

Damn, bitcoin will be hitting $50k soon, this news will again hype the market and will make it possible.

As of this writing, bitcoin is already trading at over $43,000... That was instant my friend, let the FOMO begins. lol
$50k is really close, not possible. But I think it never just stop there, I was expecting to reach $100k. Sounds unrealistic but it looks possible.
Thanks to Tesla and EM, he did a great hyping job and that was a big influence on the market which I'd never think goes like this.

PayPal, Tesla, what next? I was expecting more companies connected to EM will announce as well of buying Bitcoin.

what a fantastic news! this is another historic moment for the history of bitcoin and the whole community.
After several years get a such public notoriety it's something very big and huge.
if more companies will do the same we can see even the total market cap rally again. It's just matter of times but other big players are getting into the field!

I was surprised that when I've checked the price, there's a boost. Thanks to Elon, he knows what he's doing and that's not just like the Dogecoin pump tweet that he usually love making of.

But this is real investment for his company and I think other institutions will gain the confidence on investing in bitcoin. Well, he's just the richest person in the world that bought a lot of bitcoin through his company Tesla.

Binance should upgrade their servers since bitcoin soars 40k, lots of users raged due to this, losses positions and liquidated, I can't even access its site now and its app keep crashing.

I think this news is going to have the biggest impact in the price of the entire history of Bitcoin.
As well as the biggest positive impact in terms of consolidation of Bitcoin in the economy and in the culture of people.

That's huge! The market has started responding to it and we are seeing 43 grand at this moment! Wow! 1.5 billion USD is a huge amount of investment and I believe 50 grand we can easily expect to see in a short while! We are on the right track! I am sure more and more cash rich companies will soon join the bitcoin bandwagon to make it even bigger!

That was almost a 5k price pump for BTC after the news came out

Looking forward to seeing other companies jumping onto the bandwagon and start allocating some of their funds on BTC...Hmm, that $100k price target at the of the year that some ppl were talking about might actually not be too far-fetched after all, or maybe i'm being too bullish? 🤔 either way, thanks Elon (:
