After a humiliating defeat in the first Test, an innings and 276 runs, South Africa's return today was truly remarkable. With just 3 wickets in hand, they are able to score 238 runs. If they are able to collect 150-200 runs tomorrow, it will be difficult for New Zealand to win this match, despite their strong batting lineup. However, I do not think that New Zealand will lose this match, maybe New Zealand will win or the match will be a draw.
That's a strong comeback from team South Africa in the second test. Although, the game isn't in favour of South Africa yet. This was the first day only. Who knows how they will play tomorrow! The Proteas should collect 300 more runs to make the game difficult for New Zealand. The betting odds is in favour of South Africa now, but the difference isn't huge. Everything will be more clear tomorrow.
Surely after worst ever defeat they are doing good job in second test and very strong reply in this first day which is going to help them for some more positive and better performance in coming day because 238/3 is really great effort, and now they can add some good runs in second day which are going to help them in bowling even with first day of play I have feeling this match is going to be drawn and first ever test series win for New Zealand but still very good start is much needed for visitors because now they are here without their many star players, and they are looking for new combination at very difficult time as many bad things happening around them in and off the field, and they need to fight them for better and bright future of cricket.

3 wickets for just 79 runs. Something went really wrong this time for the Newzealand side. Latham out for a duck and Young for just three runs. Nicholls and Mithchell have the ability to take them out of this situation. If these two also get out then Newzealand will be in deep trouble.

Marco Jansen and Rabada are on fire as Nicholls and Tom Blundell both gone. New Zealand are 5 down on just 99 runs. Marco Jansen has taken 2 wickets while rest of the three belongs to Rabada. South Africa will try to get lead of 200 to 250 and if they can get this lead they are surely favorite for this game.

After such a stellar performance in the first test, New Zealand seems to be struggling in the second. Batting first, South Africa made a massive total of 364, thanks to the century from Sarel Erwee. None of the other batsmen were able to make a half century. And New Zealand immediately lost both their opening batsmen (Tom Latham and Will Young) when they came to bat.  Now the responsibility is up to Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls to stabilize the innings and take New Zealand to a comfortable position.

Devon Conway also gone and responsibility is now on Henry Nicholls and Daryl Mitchell. New Zealand still need 300 more runs to level South Africa first innings runs. Good bowling by Rabada as he quickly bowled out both openers. From betting prespective I can say South Africa are now favorite for winning this game.

Yes, it is a good stat for South Africa thanks to the top 3 batters they have scored 238 for the lost of 3 wickets. Van de dussen and Bhavuma are batting at the moment. If these guys lose their wicket then it will be a struggle for the South African batters. I am expecting a score of more than 300 runs by the end of day one.
On day 1 stump, South Africa are 238 for loss of 3 wickets. So far all batsmen have scored runs not just one men i.e. Sarel Erwee who scored century. South Africa recently have beaten India team during there home test series but lost miserably in the first game and they have made promising start of this game. South Africa must try to score over 350 runs as NZ have strong batting line up.

If South Africa continue its performance in this manner, then this is going to be the match of South Africa. It is the same pattern as the previous series against India. The first match was a defeat and came so strong in the second mtcch and this let South Africa win the series. This time the match is going to be a win for South Africa and end the series drawn.

Mohammed Siraj has a test bowling average of close to 30, and his ODI and T20I bowling average is even worse. It is an open secret that he got in to the team purely due to the "RCB quota". This automatically puts other talented pacers like T Natarajan at a disadvantage. Virat Kohli has become a synonym for nepotism and favoritism and players like Siraj and Saini are prime examples for that. That said, I don't expect Rohit Sharma to be any better either. But at least Rohit is a bit better in terms of team selection.
Mohammed Siraj came into the Test line up when all the bowlers were injured in Australia and he made an impact in that series and whenever i saw him bowl he was having an impact in the game picking crucial wickets, his average might not look great but all of his wickets in Test were crucial ones, not sure about his impact on the shorter format but in Test he is a good bowler.

The second Test between South Africa and New Zealand is going on and South Africa had a decent start and new comer Sarel Erwee scored a century but none of the other batsman were able to convert their start into a big innings and they need someone to hold one side and play a long innings to save them in this match.

Suraj has only played 12 test matches till now and has taken 36 wicket. As a bowler his performance in test is good and he might be the replacement of Ishant sharma or bhuvnesh kumar in the future. If he performs well in the upcoming test series with SL then he might become a permanent bowler for India. Kohli is going through a rough patch now. I am sure he will regain his form soon

Betting odds are in favor of South Africa because of there good performance on day 1. If New Zealand can bowl them out before 300 then New Zealand will be right back in the game. If South Africa can score 350 runs and  New Zealand can also score 300+ runs then there will be fair chances of draw. I am not in a position to place a bet at this moment.

Actually, they have lost 3 wickets and they have 7 wickets in hand. and they are looking really good to post another 200 plus score tomorrow.

I think if they just survive and flip defensively well in the 1st session on day-2 I think they will be able to score quite a few runs in the second and third sessions. They have to score a big amount of runs for having a chance to compete with the batting lineup of New Zealand.

But I think in the first session the New Zealand bowlers tomorrow will fire all cylinders to get a few wickets at least. The first session is going to be really crucial for both the teams and will also have a big impact on the results of this test match.

We have seen teams well settled at the end of day 1 and collapsing on first session of next day. South Africa are nicely settled they need to take lead further from where they left on day 1. If South Africa are in good position yet we cant say who is in winning position right now. Test is proper form of cricket and the winner is the one who really played well unlike in ODI and T20. For South Africa first session is very important.

Second test match between South Africa and New Zealand is underway. South Africa made a good start after facing a big defeat in first test match. Two sessions of the first day are almost complete and South Africa are nicely placed at 163 and just one wicket lost. Openers made a good start of 111 runs partnership, Sarel Erwee is not out on 100. No one is expecting such performance from South Africa.

23 innings and 36 wickets, he is still roaming in border line area where he can be replaced anytime if he failed to give some outstanding performance since there are many talented bowlers in the Queue. Kohli case is getting complicated day by day, he is dropped from matches because of different reasons but it looks like bcci is looking for his replacement.

This is average performance from them, and now it is good time to change this because with these changes and having new captain surely going to give some positive impact with Kohli is now out with is personal ego and personal likes and dislikes in team selection is also ended for many players.
With the entry of few youngsters and help of other senior players surely going to change all momentum against Sri Lanka in test matches after this they have very tight schedule which involved South Africa England and then twenty/20 world cup mean again no rest for this money making human machines. Look like now they are not going to have any fair chance in second WTC championship after losing first final against New Zealand at Lords, with some good number of white ball events waiting for them.

Seems like it. They honestly have a really tight schedule and it seems like fatigue will have a big role to play here. I am really interested to see how the youngsters play against Sri Lanka, to be honest.

Because today I have already seen Ishan Kishan play really well in the T20 matches against Sri Lanka. I believe India has some great young prospects and they could prove to be really useful in the coming matches that they have on the schedule.

Australia tour happened two years ago. Why you want to live in the past? Players like Kohli, Hard dick, Rahane, Siraj and Pujara are constantly underperforming ever since then. Since Kohli was the captain, he persisted with these people and never allowed any younger players to replace them. Only after he was dropped, promising youngsters like Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar could find a place in the playing XI. India is a country with 1.4 billion population and cricket is the favorite sport by a distance. If they can't perform well even in cricket, then a few questions will be asked.
Muhammad Siraj is still in squad for test series against SL. Muhammad Siraj must take this opportunity seriously else he will be dropped like Pandya, Rahane and Pujara. Once you are dropped from squad and asked to play in domestic to prove your fitness and form it becomes difficult to find your place in squad.
Kohli is in squad for SL test series but not for T20 series. Kohli will be very soon a history if he stayed in his current form for few more series.

For me, I am always going to prefer experience over talent in test cricket. I know this is not the most popular belief but it is what it is. The reason why I think this is because test cricket takes a lot more skills than shorter formats of cricket.

In test cricket, bowlers bowl the same ball for 3-4 overs to set up the batsmen for a certain ball. But that doesn't exist in ODI or T20. And quite frankly I don't think the young players have the composure of doing that. I would rather trust my experienced bowlers in tests. But in the case of Suraj , I think he has some experience of the test even though it's quite minimal compared to a lot of others. But in the matches, he played he did quite well. So worth a shot I guess.

Sounds weird argument considering WTC is 2 years affair.
Btw India has played  14 test match after BG Trophy and Won 7, lost 5 with 2 draw.
Why would you want to replace red ball specialists with the white ball players? If specialist players are performing bad then they should be replace with only red ball players, not the other way around. I don't remember Hardik playing any test match in last 3-4 so don't know what are you talking about by mentioning his name. BTW Siraj is young guy in test cricket, unless you only consider 19 yo as young.
This is average performance from them, and now it is good time to change this because with these changes and having new captain surely going to give some positive impact with Kohli is now out with is personal ego and personal likes and dislikes in team selection is also ended for many players.

I think that makes more sense because we have seen a lot of teams making this mistake of playing players of the shorter format in test cricket, and that Idea failed really miserably, and then when the player lost their form we blamed the selector board for their mistake. And shit talked about a lot of players.

That type of over-eagerness should not be appreciated and I think the player who played test cricket better should be prioritized for test cricket than any other better player who plays one day or t20 good.
