Australia leads by 182 runs, with 6 wickets remaining. Two sessions of play remain for today, but I am not sure in reality how many overs of play will be possible. Rains are predicted for today as well. Also, Australia has lost their entire top order, and the last recognized batting pair is at the crease now (Cameron Green and Steven Smith). Actually the chances of India winning the match appear to be bright.

Watch out!! Natarajan, Shardul, Sunder and Siraj going to make their maiden test century here in Gabba.  Grin Grin Shitpost 101
Looks like you had a vision that the tail end players will score big and i had a laugh reading this earlier
More like a shitposting haha but both Shardul-Sunder were close..

This series need a documentary and 5 match series from now on..
+1

There has been enough drama as well as heroics in this series for a documentary. It has been a long time that Test matches have been so exciting. Not just that, the grit and resilience shown by the Indian team are quite an uplifting story amid the pandemic.

The Australian team too needs to be acknowledged for what they are. Never relenting and always trying to destroy the opponents. That explains the frustration that they have gone through when not being able to follow through and dominate. The bad blood in the media notwithstanding, India and Australia together really define two very different brands of cricket characteristic of their different hemispheres. These two teams are essentially saving and growing cricket.
True, perfect advertisement of the Test cricket. No one giving an inch to their opponent, every time it look liked that one team dominating other, opposition out of nowhere pulling rabbit out of a hat. We need more series like these where visiting teams showing characters and fighting hard because in recent time no team is considered strong visitor.

Debatable but somehow i feel that Kohli's departure was blessing in disguise. Alpha male is out and every one taking responsibility and rising to the occasion.

It will be interesting to see what Australia do today as we saw in the last test match 4 sessions was not enough to bowl India out so what will Paine do this time? Australia will need at least 350+ runs if they want to win but also need enough time to try and bowl India out so do they play like a T20 and try and score as many runs in the first session but even then I can't see Australia scoring 300 runs in the first session but maybe they need to bat two sessions and then put India in to bat. Also the weather could play a role in this match so its going to be an interesting end to the series.

If Sri Lanka had a lead over 150 runs then the match would be interesting as they picked 3 wickets already.
If Sri Lanka played a decent game in the first innings the match would have being interesting but it is too late as they just need 36 more runs to win even though they picked 3 early wickets.

India is riding high in the final Test and i wished Ashwin was in the team just to respond to Paine as he was challenging him to come to Brisbane so that they could hurt him and easily defeat India  Cheesy. Australia will try to score runs quickly and if India is able to pick some early wickets then they could have an upper hand in the match.

Seems they understood their mistakes and learnt a lot from their first innings and as a result played well in second innings and made 359 as against 135 in first innings.
They should have calculated all these before the series started so that they could have a fighting chance Grin. I am not denying the fact that Sri Lanka tried to play for a longer time but they conceded a big lead as they played really bad, may be because the wicket was aiding the bowlers and once the pitch settled down the batting became easy.

Seems they understood their mistakes and learnt a lot from their first innings and as a result played well in second innings and made 359 as against 135 in first innings. Though England massive score of 421 in first innings have put them in driver’s seat and though they lost 3 wickets for just 38 in second innings still they only now require 36 runs to win the match. Sri Lanka would realize that though they played well in second innings and bowled well in second innings but each session for them is very important and losing couple of session initially in the test match can actually cost them the test match even if they play well in the end.

Sri Lanka collapsed from 5/291 to 359 all out. They lost 5 of their last wickets for just 68 runs. They had the perfect chance of setting up a challenging target for England, but the lower order collapse destroyed those hopes. There is hardly any take-aways for Sri Lanka from this match, apart from the good knocks by Lahiru Thirimanne and Angelo Mathews. They need to do much better, if they want to beat England in the remaining matches.

Sri Lanka was completely shattered in the first innings but returned to form in the second innings. The openers did not play well in the first innings but they played well enough in the second innings. Lahiru Thirimanne is still unbeaten, he has scored 76 runs off 189 balls. Great innings. But Kushal Mendis is out of form in both innings. I want to see a century from Lahiru Thirimanne tomorrow

Don't even remind me how fucking shit SL played in 1st inning, it was look like they were not playing test match but T20 and playing very risky shot even without settling.

So impressed by Sundar & Thakur watching them batting as if they were only the pillars and could save India which they actually proved it. I was depending on Rahane and Pujara today if any 1 could stay for long could help India to reach near OZ score but it was somebody else only who saved India to give big lead to OZ. Day Definitely belongs to India today and considering the team has changed a lot from the start of the test match due to injuries, India would be happy to play for draw as its win for them even in draw with new set of players they are playing this series.

Yup. Actually no one expected these two to bat so well. They treated Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins with absolute disdain, and only Josh Hazlewood looked to be in some sort of form. But the Indian team needs to remain cautious. Still two days remain and the game can change at any point. Tomorrow the Indian bowlers need to make sure that they don't give away too many easy runs.

Only two days remain now, and considering the weather forecast, any chances of getting a result look pretty much minimal. That is unless one of the two teams undergo a batting collapse. If we assume that at least one session gets washed away, then Australia needs to bowl out India in around 60 overs. India will be happy with a draw, as it will help them in the World Test Championship points table.

There is more chance of getting result on this match. Australia have started the second innings strong, and with two days left the fall of wickets in the first innings will conclude whether the match will end in a draw.
You are forgetting the rain factor here. There is a good chance of rainfall for the next 2 days at the Gabba according to weather reports which is why a draw seems like the most likely outcome.

Also, Australia just scored 20+ runs and the lead is around 50+ runs which isn't strong by any means. Australia will probably try to score and declare quickly, but rain might play spoilsport.

I expected Australia to wrap up the tail fast but now it looks like they will bat the entire day.

It was an amazing fight back by the Indian tail batsmen. At one point, there were six down for 186 runs but the last four wickets gave a good resistance to the Australians bowlers and now the deficient is only of 33 runs. We still have two days left in the match but it look like that most likely this match is headed towards a draw.
Anyone looking to bet on a draw now can be in a good profit.

After that excellent 7th wicket partnership the tail end up too quickly so now India is back into their bowling and most likely the match is heading towards the draw because we are not having promising weather as well for the remaining days.

Warner was in a hurry and made into 20's, can he get going?

If warner getting going along with few others in the australian's 2nd innings, they could well try to give 280 - 300+ target to the Indians in the last innings and hope they could get them out cheap. It look difficult but its worth a try. If Australia lose quick wickets, then of course there is no choice but to play for a draw.

Predicted 2 draws in a row and looks like I might be right. It looks like this entire series might end in a draw(ODI - Aus, T20 - India, Test - Draw) which is pretty amazing for India considering all the obstacles they encountered.

Kohli's departure and other injured players weren't necessarily a bad thing since it provided opportunities to players like Rahane, Natarajan, Shardul, Sundar etc to shine.
New players got opportunity, and Australia might've not thought of such a comeback. India reaching 336 runs in its first innings is really a big score. Finally, the great partnership between Sundar and Takur came to an end with the special delivery from Cummins, Takur wants to seal a place in the international career and the intentions are up to the mark now. India still trails by 60 runs and 3 wickets in hand, can Sundar be able to hold one end and play throughout the day? Atleast go for the zero trails will be his approach from now on. The game is on for sure!

It all depends on Sundar now. When Thakur and sundar were batting I had a feeling at that this match will not end in a draw. If but now I think it will. Do not expect much from the tail enders but they need to rotate the strike and give more chance to sundar.

Looks like you had a vision that the tail end players will score big and i had a laugh reading this earlier but with the way Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar is playing it is possible that they could score a century each. I never thought they could bat and India is surprising everyone all the time. Last match there was Ashwin and Vihari and now a new set of players trying to save the match.

India lost 6 wickets for 215 runs. Now Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar are in the crease. I hope India will lose all their wickets by today. And they will be able to collect 60-70 runs and in totaal they will be able to score 270-290. At the moment, they are 154 runs behind Australia

Lol...

When everyone thought that Indian inning is about to over and Aussie would get 150+ runs lead. 2 new boys put their foot down and showing top order batsmen how to bat. I am now sure that Sunder is playing against England next month and how good is lord Shardul. This is highest 7th wicket partnership for India. Mighty impressed!!

This series need a documentary and 5 match series from now on..

Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur are giving tough time to Aussies and they are ruining their dream for series win against India. These two players comes from no where to save the indian batting line up. Perfect Perfect !!!
