@keithers

Most of recent ICOs weren't even coins, but tokens for services on top of ethereum's network. Some were partially, if not totally, independent of this or that network, they could function in any network with smart contracts -- e.g. sonm.

Some were decentralized exchanges, some were coins, like minexcoin. As far as I can tell, these were different propositions of coins, not merely copy-cats. The thing is that not even this guarantees there will be a future for them. We are in the middle of a "Cambrian explosion" of crypto.

Alternatives to BTC have been around for a couple of years or more, but BTC is still what everybody knows and what all lay people buy. Network effect counts as much, if not much more, as the tech behind. BTC can implement modifications and still be number 1 in real trade volume and market cap.

Tezos seems to be building a lot of steam coming into it's ICO.   I have been trying to follow as much news as possible.   Do we know what currencies will be accepted as forms of investment in their initial offering?  I would assume that they are at least accepting BTC and ETH, right?

I plan on going in on this one if possible, just don't know how heavy yet... what are your guys' thoughts?

I'm also going in, but not to heavy. The fact that the ICO is uncapped worries me.

Being uncapped is kind of a bummer, but Ethereum is also uncapped at this point right?  There are so many different cryptos now that it is hard to differentiate between what is good and what is just a cash grab.  These past few months you could have literally just put all of them on a dart board and threw a dart at it and nearly tripled your money, but I don't think that will be the case for much longer.

I think there is still a ton of money to be made, but it has to be the coins (or ICOs) that are bringing something new to the table, not just a carbon copy of bitcoin with a different name.

I also join the community of Tezos supporters who are going to invest into it. I saw lot of important people talking and discussing about this project which rose up interest in me for the project. A reasonable amount of money in Bitcoin is prepared to throw into it once it is live.

Hi all, I'm heading the Tezos project. A few things about the project

 - We have real on-chain decentralized governance, i.e. we can upgrade the entire protocol without hard forks.
 - We support smart-contracts with a functional, statically typed language which we design specifically for formal verification. We presented it recently at the Stanford blockchain conference and the video should be online soon.
 - We're starting with a delegated proof-of-stake consensus model
 - We are headed for a crowdsale around late Q1, early Q2 2017.

We've been fairly discreet for the past few years quietly building our technology (our source code is available on Github). We did not want to go to a crowdsale without an actual working product. We're not a fork of any project, we built the entire thing from scratch in OCaml.

I'd be happy to answer questions about the project!

P.S. we're also looking to contract with translators and community manager.

Hi there,

I would like to spread Tezos in Chinese community. I have experience in spreading Counterparty (XCP) in Chinese community since 2014.

And I translated lots of Counterpart documents including wallet installation guideline, BTT post, etc. Let me know if I am eligible to do the same thing for Tezos. I can do it part time, but I promise I can complete every tasks on time.

Below is the Counterparty Whitepaper I translated in Chinese FYI. It is not a google translation. I translated it by my English skills.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4906508

Welcome to join in discussing Tezos in Chinese community. Below is the initial activity for broadcasting Tezos project. I will start to translate Tezos related documents into Chinese in the next few days. Stay tuned.

Short term free market ICO could generate a lot of capital, but it's better than a few whales controlling the market, and better than EOS's year long uncapped, gambling ICO

Hi everyone, I have been reading everything I can about "Tezos ICO" for several months, and every time I have more doubts about participating. The lack of communication with people and silence are my main concern, I am also a newbie, I never participated in an ICO, perhaps because I am too prudent and I like to rely on more advanced projects.

On a scale of 1-10, what would be the risk of failure that you give Tezos?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. I'm sorry, my english, I'm from Madrid  Smiley

i will give it 3 because it is no cap!
I had to say this project is good .but in this time ,BTC,ETH price is up to very height but they never think how much money they need to development projects.

ETH ico was no cap too, and look where it is now

three years ago. different epoch.
