Bitcoin goes up and altcoins follow. We've never seen a rally the other way round:

that is the normal way. alts only move when there is alot of heat in bitcoin but when they move, they move alot!

It involves way too much sheer luck to make profits off alts. It's better to go long term all in on Bitcoin, with a small amount of exceptions of coins worth holding such as XMR. But once the Bitcoin panic buying starts don't be surprised if most alts go down too because people will cash out to be on Bitcoin.

It is very difficult for litecoin to move to $30 by XMas. Maybe 5-10 dollars. There is not much innovation in litecoin, it is just a tool for speculation.

And nothing technical has changed since 2013. If you'd put in $100 into LTC at the start of that year you would've ended it with $30,000. It's still largely pointless but it's plugged into China and they're the daddies.

Coin lag, they're jumping now; LTC is currently working its way towards $4 USD per. I'm expecting LTC to hit $30 by xmas. Ho Ho Ho!

but I would rather stay in Bitcoin than gamble it with some altcoin in hopes of making more BTC. You may make more by just holding the BTC.

If you can be totally pragmatic and only allocate play money then you'll be fine. Many people are prone to getting secondary Bitcoin fever and start forming an emotional attachment to their daffy alt and go down in flames with it. Those who are disciplined to run in and out at the right moment and never look back do well. It's not something I've got the knack for so gave up long ago.

I think it's obvious that some alts will always go up with BTC. Bitcoin is king and altcoins will try to follow like imitators. LTC seems to ALWAYS pump when a Bitcoin pump starts somehow.. but I would rather stay in Bitcoin than gamble it with some altcoin in hopes of making more BTC. You may make more by just holding the BTC.

The only time when you will see a price change, is when the Bitcoin price tank. People will either sell their Alt coins to buy more Bitcoins at a cheaper price or they will panic sell,

because they predict a total Crypto currency crash if the strongest Crypto currency crash. Most of the Alt's are pre-mined pump n dumps anyway in my opinion.

I still need to see where they bring significant value to the Crypto currency scene other than being the crash test dummy for new changes to the technology.  Roll Eyes

This entire run they haven't moved... any opinions on if this will do anything to the BTC price?

The usual cycle, first weak hands sell to get as much BTC as possible, then, when BTC price increases enough, alts start getting pumped cause ordinary people cannot afford BTC and buy the next best thing. Buy high volume alts, you ll profit on them within a year.
Yup, this happened during the boom in 2013. Anyone else remember the $15+ Litecoins? hahaha

Litecoin was more than $30 around that time.
If this thing repeats, and I believe it will, there is still much room for Litecoin too increase.

LTC hit almost $50 in 2013. I doubt we'll ever see that again though. There early adopters who were pumping LTC back in the day have already cashed out. Plus, it doesn't have anything innovative to offer over BTC.

As is visible, bitcoin price is moving rapidly. I wish it could attain some 1200 USD value.

Maybe we are in a bull market for all cryptocoin now. I see Ethereum, Dash and litecoin price rise. The price rise might last.

I doubt it, not being pessimistic but these coins are up for some quick pumps. See litecoin being pumped up to $9 only to go back to its original price within hours? It will happen within a span of some days.

Move On !!!!!!

Which altcoins? I see only three that moved. First is Ethereum that has been speculated to death. Then you have Litecoin that mirrors everything that Bitcoin is doing since forever and today you have a slight move in Dash, I don't know why is this. Everything else is dead as a dead horse.

Some altcoins always get pumped when Bitcoin rises. It usually won't last long though.

LTC, PPC, Doge, Dash, etc have  all stood still as BTC ran from 220 to 300 when it started moving above solidly the alts started moving as well..

The last rise to 300 the alt coins started jumping the second BTC did.

People finally just decided altcoins are just little toys to play with perhaps?  Perhaps people are thinking we are indeed in a bull market and now is the time to put more into crypto in general?

A signal BTC is about to drop down a little bit perhaps

Some altcoins always get pumped when Bitcoin rises. It usually won't last long though.

All I care about is that LTC does its usual tag along all "yoshi" like to bitcoin's "mario" at say at least about above 0.0100 or more LTC to BTC ratio.

I got 2500 LTC from mining (hoard) in case LTC goes 'somewhat mildly nuts' as it has in the past...so anything above that I'm golden ..below that I cry like an 8 yr old Sad

just can't seem to move it to BTC yet....things are too weird....look at this last pop from 2.98 to 3.75 usd in a day (higher actually then that like 3.86 i think)

So my 'question' is ..it is NOT out of the realm of probability that if BTC say takes off to 500 usd a coin say... LTC as an alternative might not also go off on its

own 'tangent' and look like a deal at 10 or 15 bucks a coin ....(assuming if you are China and moving fiat out one way ...adds to this idea)

So I hold....my last hoard of 'anything' hard to let to.....at 72.5 btc now from mining ...so we will mine some more and sit on my pile of dragon loot and ponder

the mystery that is crypto? (when confused or scared 'freeze' is my motto ) Smiley

on a side note I moved 501 LTC yesterday at 3 bucks an LTC to BTC at 300 usd for 5 BTC....cause I was so SURE LTC was gonna CRASH (perfect timing in the wrong direction as per usual) .....and woke up (i work nites) to 3.83 ltc price....so sitting on hands is again my new 'motto"!

with SOME alts .holding some .especially LTC imho....... an't such a bad move.....

we will see

Yes from my small time in this community and scene I've noticed that altcoins didn't move much after Bitcoin recent rise. Some months ago if Bitcoin changed value it affected the top coins directly and almost instantly.

Alts price will move also. In fiat they already move. Question is which alts will move most and first. Will be the same as in 2013 or will be the ones that are now most popular.
I think the first, since new users that will join Crypto movement will first notice old coins that already made some marketing in past and have positions on many exchanges.
Some altcoins that will be successful in future  with features that Bitcoin dont have and are bringing something new to the table will start growing n second wave, after new users will educated about crypto more.

I think it'll be an object lesson in people never learning. Barely a single alt has brought anything to the table since the last explosion but if there is another one we'll see endless posts about a goat herder in Tajikistan accepting Wankcoin and how this time it's different. As they collapse again it'll be whales holding the price down rather than no one giving a fuck. Still, there'll be profit to be made by someone somewhere but it would be nice to think people were a little wiser now. There's no shortage of precedents now.
