Sounds fine to me, I really don't care.  We could tally up our predictions from last year and let the biggest loser pick first.  Grin

So what do you think? Do we use the League Manager tools and Randomize the draft order or do we use bitcoin?

I like the block hash lottery.

Speaking of the draft, maybe it is a good idea to talk about the draft order, this is the current draft order which was selected automatically when all of you joined the league.

1. South Park
2. DireWolfM14
3. morvillz7z
4. suchmoon
5. This spot is open
6. bbc.reporter
7. nutildah
8. Hueristic

We could go about this in two different ways, the first one is to use the League Manager tools and just randomize the order so everyone got the same chance to get a high pick on the draft, but this has the huge disadvantage of having to trust the person doing this, in this case myself, and personally I would like to avoid scenarios like this one.

The second option is to let bitcoin decide, we could make a raffle similar to the ones we see on the goods section of the forum, the spots could be decided by the current order so it could be something like this:

0-1. South Park
2-3. DireWolfM14
4-5. morvillz7z
6-7. suchmoon
8-9. This spot is open
a-b. bbc.reporter
c-d. nutildah
e-f. Hueristic

Then a block height can be selected arbitrarily by me, since it makes no difference which one I pick, and from that block on the last character of the hash can be used to determine the draft order, obviously if the same user is lucky enough to have their numbers appear more than once they do not receive another pick and just keep the highest pick they got earlier.

So for example if I picked block height 690250 then we will get the next:

690250      9   1 pick   This spot is open
690251      4   2 pick   morvillz7z
690252      c   3 pick   nutildah
690253      3   4 pick   DireWolfM14
690254      d   NA      nutildah(nutildah does not receive the fifth pick on the draft since they already have the third)
690255      e   5 pick   Hueristic
690256      9   NA      This spot is open(same as nutildah above)

And so on until everyone got their spot on the draft.

So what do you think? Do we use the League Manager tools and Randomize the draft order or do we use bitcoin?

Happy 4th of July!

We are closing on the new season fast, literally last month we don't have football to watch or bet on this year. I believe training camps begin the last week of this month, hof game and preseason kick off in early August. Why? Play times are uncertain? Also maybe inconsistent performances? Rookies make lower points? I also have another rookie I like from the same team as Trevor Lawrence. Should rookies not be drafted? Huh

Its far more important to get an average dependable point spread from a QB then to take a chance on a rook.

If the draft were to occur tomorrow which one of these rookie quarterbacks will you be picking? Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields or Trey Lance? Trevor Lawrence might be the only quarterback who plays from week 1? I am speculating Trey Lance and Justin Fields might also become the regular quarterbacks, however, it might be after week 5?

I would never draft a rookie QB as a starter, period.

And I like to gamble! Grin

I did draft Peyton 1st round in all my leagues when he went to Denver and that was a genius move! /bragg off

@nutildah. I thought the live draft is done every week before the games. Okay then I also vote in for the live draft hehehe. But can you not change your team once a week and can those changes then be done on your own time?

Now I understand your hesitancy. No, the idea is to make a team in the draft and keep it for the whole season, treating it like a real team.

Having said that, cases will arise where one of your starters will get injured, and maybe your backup has a bye week. Or maybe your backup plain sucks. In case you need a new player, you can drop an old one and pick up a new one off the waiver wire.

Its possible to rearrange your entire team every week but too many adds and drops kind of goes against the spirit of the game. Besides, most good players end up getting drafted right away, which leaves slim pickens as free agents.

Basic FF Facts For Newbs

- Each team has a max total of 16 players, so the draft will be 16 rounds long.

- There are 9 starting and 7 benched players each game. You must set your starters before gametime or they won't play that week.

- Most positions have a maximum # you can have in that position (for example, you can have a max of 3 kickers, sorry suchmoon). Check the League Settings for specifics.

- Each week, teams in the league face off against each other in head-to-head competitions. Whoever's team scores the most points in their matchup, gets a W for the week.

- "Points" in FF refers to points earned by the plays of individual players in your starting roster (and also the Defense, the 9th player).

- Different plays earn different amounts of points. For example, if a QB throws a TD pass, the QB earns 4 points + 0.04 points per passing yard, and the receiver earns 6 points + 0.1 points per receiving yard. So a 20-yard pass into the end zone would be worth a total of 18 points.

- You can also lose points as some plays are worth negative points. A fumble or interception is -2 points, a missed field goal is -1, and there are others all shown in the League Settings.

Umm... What else...

Oh, playoffs for our league start a couple weeks earlier than the NFL because it doesn't make sense to keep playing after NFL teams are eliminated.

I tried it. I was very much confused for most of the draft because I do not know many of the players. I vote against the live draft, sorry. I want the enjoyment of research on the players in my own time before building a team.
As nutildah says the draft does not happen until a week or days before the start of the regular season because we need to avoid scenarios in which you use a high draft pick and then the player gets hurt, retires or holds out, at that time you will basically lose the league and there will not be a way to recover unless you were a master of the game.

And this is probably even more important right now with the situation of Rodgers and Watson, I think it is a given Watson will not play, but Rodgers is a problem not only if you happen to pick him and he holds out or retires, it is obvious that without him there all GB players will suffer so we need to hold out the draft as much as possible until the situation resolves itslef which will give you some time to learn more about how this works

Also it seems most members want a live draft:
So I suppose we are +3 +4 +6 for a live draft, 0 +1 against it and 5 4 1 undecided so far.

You have at least two months... We don't need to hold the draft until days before the start of the season, I don't think. That's not enough time to research players?

The league is almost full the only one left to register is wheelz1200, everyone else is already in and if I might add you have selected some very interesting names for your teams. Wink

Where are the user manuals and the instructions for this? I registered but I do not know how to play this game...
The first step is to learn how the draft works, here is the link to the mock draft lobby where you can see how this works and experience first hand how the whole thing will work in the case we do a snake live draft, right now the only difference is that you have less time to draft than the current settings so a whole mock draft could last between 30 to 40 minutes, and do not worry you are not the only one playing fantasy football for the first time, I am on the same boat.

It's a classic... learned a lot from those guys, about FF, life, and love. And then there's also Raffi.

You want to make the winner's trophy a homage to your high school girlfriend?

Should have just handed Marshawn the ball. Smiley

Definitely like the live drafts.  I've never done an espn one always on the yahoo leagues.  Live drafting is half the fun and half the challenge of getting your team made up.
