Just thought I would share this with you guys and am curious what you all think - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31993538/tampa-bay-buccaneers-tom-brady-releasing-debut-set-nfts .

Brady is a big bitcoin and cryptocurrency supporter so I’m not surprised he’s releasing. Especially since Gronk has already released an NFT series himself. NBA Top Shot kind of soured me on trading card NFTs, but I suppose that’s a different thing in and of itself.

Football is officially back with today's Hall of Fame Game (8 pm ET)! Let's kick off the pre-season, shall we?  Grin

Dak and Big Ben are not playing, and i doubt any of the veterans will play much, if at all, but there are some interesting players to watch, namely both teams' first-round picks, Micah Parsons and Najee Harris. Steelers' rookie running back has a huge upside imo, most fantasy experts have him finish as a top 10 RB at the end of the season but for that to happen Steelers' offensive line has to improve a lot...

To think the Steelers could have five players on the line who are either first time starters, starting with a new team or starting in a new position is incredible. And I don’t mean incredible in a good way.

According to rumors, Deshaun Watson might not be a Texan before the opening of the season. Teams where he might go are the the Eagles, the Broncos and the Raiders. Other rumors say that Justin Fields will be the starting quarterback for the Bears by week 3.

Also this, who will be the Patriots’ quarterback? Is Belichick really choosing Cam Newton for the whole season? Jets to reach playoff is 6.03 hehehe.

Justin fields starting that early wouldn't surprise me.  They don't have world beaters at qb right now.  With them giving up their first rounder next year for the opportunity to draft him they are all in on him.  Now I just hope the bears go 0-16 so the giants can get the #1 overall pick next year Smiley

That is certainly nothing more than rumor.  As a die hard Bears fan I am pretty plugged in to the team and what's been going on and I can tell you that there is zero indication the Justin Fields will be starting by week 3.  The most realistic time frame for when he will be starting will completely depends on the play of the team and of course most importantly Andy Dalton.  If the Bears start off hot ( which I don't expect being that their schedule is not easy to begin the season ) then Andy Dalton will not lose his job and they will continue to bring Fields along.  I am perfectly fine with fields being given some time to grow and learn under Dalton, personally.

@DireWolfM14. How much time would he be given and when? Would you speculate 8 weeks, 10 weeks? Jimmy Garoppolo will certainly not like that. This might also give Bill Belichick an opporutnity before the deadline on November. Choosing Cam Newton as the first quarterback might not take them to the playoffs.

Assuming that Garoppolo doesn't get traded before week one (when his $25m salary will be guaranteed) I imagine we'll see Trey in some trick plays and designed QB runs.  We might see him as early as week one.  As for taking over the reigns, It wouldn't surprise me if Shanahan makes the change after the bye week.

There have been some rumors lately that Shanahan and Lynch really fell out of love with Jimmy G after he showed up at camp in 2020 totally out of shape and out of sync.  Imagine how Tom Brady would have prepared for the upcoming season if he had narrowly lost the previous Super Bowl...  Garoppolo prepared himself with vacations and parties.  Not the work ethic Shanahan is looking for.  Regardless of whether the rumors are true, it's pretty obvious that Garoppolo's days as a 49er are numbered.  Shanahan will take every opportunity to promote Jimmy G as one of the best, because he want's his trade value to go up.  If some one offers a first round pick for Jimmy before the start of the season, count him gone.

Also, did the Patriots buy a gem or is it San Francisco that bought a gem hehehe.

All the local media folks are talking up Trey Lance as a "generational quarterback."  The videos of his practices show a pretty natural throwing motion, and cannon for an arm.  Shanahan has been giving him time with the first-team OLine, and has said publicly that Trey will get time on the field this year.  The reporters claim that his mechanics, mobility, speed, and accuracy make it quite clear that he's better than Garoppolo.  It almost sounds too good to be true.  I reckon we'll see if he can handle the speed of a professional NFL game soon enough.

I like Jones because even if he played in a super team his fundamentals are strong, he's not very mobile which is why many teams don't like him but he has an okay arm and he goes through his progressions nicely, if Mcdaniels can teach him how to read defenses then I think the Patriots have a starting QB.

I agree, Jones is the type that can succeed as a pocket passer in Belichick's system.  If Cam Newton could bring himself to accept the roll of a pocket passer he might be successful also.  He's had whole year in the system now, I wouldn't be surprised to see him play well.

@South Park. How good is Mac Jones? If I understood correctly he was supposed to be the no.3 in the draft but he was drafted no.15 with Trey Lance in no.3.

Also, did the Patriots buy a gem or is it San Francisco that bought a gem hehehe. In any case, the trade deadline will be on November. We might see more trades.
The truth is no one knows for sure because QB is by far the most difficult position to evaluate, when it comes to RBs this is way easier since it is the offensive position from which the transition from college football to professional football is the easiest, it is still not 100% accurate but it is easier.

When it comes to QBs they need to learn a more complex offense, deal with a more complex defense, the speed of the game is faster, the windows to throw are smaller and their decision-making is going to be tested at every step of the way, this is why you have players like Brady picked 199th overall and Marino picked 27th overall.

I know it doesn't matter, but I always root for the Cowgirls to lose.  Mike McCarthy's sideline presence only makes my love of a Cowboys loss even sweeter.  I love it when he throws his hands out to his side, palms up, mouthing WTF while wearing those colors.  He was the worst offensive coordinator the 49ers ever had, and  I couldn't believe when GB hired him to be there head coach.  At the time I figured they new something I didn't, after all Mike Nolan was our head coach.
They do not need McCarthy to lose, Jerry Jones and the huge contract that he gave to Dak is going to be more than enough to put the Cowboys in a bad situation for years to come.

In Green Bay he did pretty good job, ironically with the quarterback he and Nolan passed on in the 2005 draft (tell me if you heard this rant before.)
And the worst part is that they are about to pass on Rodgers again, most likely this will be the last season of Rodgers on GB, so there will be a lot of teams interested on him but with SF picking Lance then most likely they will be out of the race, unless they name Lance the starter this year and they see they made a mistake.

Also this, who will be the Patriots’ quarterback? Is Belichick really choosing Cam Newton for the whole season? Jets to reach playoff is 6.03 hehehe.
According to the rumors Cam has been in fact named the starter, however we need to take this with a grain of salt, if Cam begins to play like what we saw last year then he is going to be benched, if he did not remained that way last year was because the NE QB backups were even worse, but now that Jones is there maybe he could take his place during the regular season.

Think I just found who I'm gonna spend my coveted #1 pick on!

Hah, j/k. Honestly I have no idea. I haven't much looked into the season yet but will begin shortly.

Jets to reach playoff is 6.03 hehehe.

Ooh nice, probably the highest its ever been in my adult life. Maybe it was that high during the Sanchez era but I doubt it.

Yeah that's a revamped line.  Wonder how good he is in pass protection.  Most of the time that's why Rookies see or don't see alot of burn.  Most rooks can carry the ball it's protecting the qb that college never really prepares them for.  Excited to get this season rocking and rolling even if it's just preseason!

I like the 8-team league.  It's been several years since I've played FF, and considering how busy I've been lately the smaller league will allow me to remain competitive without having to invest a lot of time.  I agree that more teams can make things more interesting with waivers and trades, I just don't think that's right for me at the moment.  My vote is to keep things the way they are.

I personally don't like anything less than 12 man leagues.  With an 8 team league there's not much competition being that everyone has a stacked team and if anyone's players get hurt then you can easily go pick up a stud off of the waiver wire.  HOWEVER, I know I am an obsessive freak when it comes to fantasy football and spend way too much time on it each and every year.  I play in at least 3 leagues and try to play up to 5...so yes I know most people are not like me in the sense lol.

There are less "studs" in non ppr.

It separates real players from prima donna's.

You know whats funny is that we started that league you speak of as a fun league, hows that working out for you?

LOL you are the only person whom I've ever heard complain about PPR leagues and I've been playing for about 15 years now.  This also has NOTHING to do w/your old league as there is literally one player left over from it (phish).  It's a new league (this will be year 3 ) and it's been going well.  We've had a couple people do a poor job setting their lineups at times but other than that it's a very good league.  It's still fun, we just take it more seriously because it's more fun that way.  Like I told phish when I "took over" the league and made a new one, you're a weirdo.  Good chat though bud  Cheesy
