Ethereum is still the best choice for issuing tokens. Ethereum's smart contract is still invincible so far. Although Ethereum still has many problems to solve. But I believe that Ethereum's technology upgrade will come sooner.
In my opinion there are other platforms that are way better than ethereum for building dApps but the reason why ethereum is the used most is because it is the easiest and most welcoming of all. Considering that ethereum is popular that the rest being the second cryptocurrency ever gives it an edge over others.
now I prefer BNB and XRP as the ERC20 platform, because this year both of them have become the best performing coins this year, people are starting to feel how this platform works and have made people start taking steps to invest in this coin.
As of now, ERC20 is still the best plat form. But its position is being fiercely competed by Binance's BEP2 and other platforms such as EOS, Waves or Tron. Before IEOs trend, ERC20 showed its dominance on new projects but since IEOs trend started, a good platform is replaced by a good exchange.

I think erc20 will remains the best platform for smart contract and developers will still choose ETH over other rivals like neo or tron because of its simplicity,its very easy to build token using erc20 and no other like it
ERC20 is a universal platform used by many ICOS. It is easy and convenient to work with smart contracts on this platform.
erc20 is the best, my reason is that the wallet is very simple and easy to understand. to withdraw or deposit tokens, it is also very easy. ease of use is number 1 for use.
