I think we should not reach that situation, losing a huge amount in gambling could affect a lot and it might ruin our good relationship with our family.
Gambling is known to be risky but only for people who are not responsible enough, but when you experience addiction all you need to do is to accept you are weak and you have a problem so you will be able to find solution to quit as early as possible.
I believe a person does not need to experience heavy loses to stop gambling for good. I think it is on a person decision and how determine he is to control himself from gambling. Though I admit, losing a huge amount of money might be a good reason but to others it is another reason to gambling again (chasing losses). But at the end it is on the person's determination and decision if he wanted to stop gambling or continue it.
It's all about mind. So, the way to quit gambling or to control our emotion on gambling will be different. Some people can take others experiences as a way to control their game, while the other people tend to use their own experiences as guideline. I am the one who lose a lot from gambling in the past and nowadays I am afraid to repeat it again.
