well, it is supossed that mtgox was robbed, so that would be the biggest I think
Maybe satoshi was robbed  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked
That would be the biggest Grin
He is said to own more than a million coins

Yeah! Something like: The (Threelettercompany) thought it was enough to kill Satoshi, steal his wallet files from his computer and run away with 1 Mio BTC. They didn't know about the need for the encryption password, so the 1 Mio BTC will be untouched forever and this robbery was the biggest fail in BTC history.

Third: hodl.

Third is: never leave your bitcoins on any exchange.

How can then people know of all the rules if no one talks about them?

Common sense, basically. Why should I go and brag about how much money I have?

The next big business will be Bitcoin insurance!

Great idea!

The same guys who own the insurance company will also own the entities being ripped off. The entity puts in a big-ass claim for funds they themselves stole, collect the insurance, then file for bankruptcy. The ultimate triple-dip: Paid while in being operational; Paid when stealing your own funds; Paid when your insurance company funded via others pays your claim. Shit, I forgot one: Paid while the insurance company was operational, but now also defunct.

But how different would this be with dollar business? They could do the same probably already doing it.
The main difference is that the public is compensated by price increase of the remaining coins.

First rule of Bitcoin: you don't talk about how many bitcoins you have.

Love this, great first rule!

First of all, keep your head on a swivel so no one takes that BTC0.78

Second, robbery has two "b"s

=http://www.cnet.com/news/bitcoin-startup-circle-unveils-no-fee-digital-currency-banking/Well, Circle.com claim to have them bitcoins insured
But since you can't print them coins the price would spike massively when they lost them and had to be rebought by the insurance company.

More information : http://www.coindesk.com/bitstamp-claims-roughly-19000-btc-lost-hot-wallet-hack/

now i am worried about mine 0.78BTC in my account Tongue
1. This is old news. Not sure why you are reposting.
2. Bitstamp said they will reimburse all lost coins, including but not limited to you.

I still haven't figured out how Bitstamp is plannin' on performing said feat, considering that the coins lost from the hot wallet belonged to their customers, as does the same amount 100 fold in their cold wallet.

You telling me that Bitstamp has earned at least $5M USD, not counting their operating cost and VC investors receiving at least something during their entire time of existence?

Something doesn't add up!

Well a lot of the bigger ones in that thread were lon cons (most likely) which is somewhat different then a "robbery". Although I do think one of the dark market "hacks" shortly after sr1 was taken down exceeded $5MM in fiat value
