And thanks @joker_josue for helping out with adding some other stuff.

I've been a little more still now. There is not enough time for everything.  Undecided

And I still haven't been able to focus on a topic, making it easier to add information. I have to try to plan this better.

I have been working on the Wiki for some time, adding some things that are glaringly missing on links that you can access from the front page.

For instance, now Sparrow Wallet and BlueWallet have their own wiki pages.

The miner list compilation turned out to be much harder than I expected it to be, and I worry where I am going to get price data from when there are so many resellers.

And thanks @joker_josue for helping out with adding some other stuff.

Hello @NotATether, how is your initiative?

I now also have editing permission. In this sense, we can collaborate with you, if you are interested.

So yesterday I finally got those edit permissions I was asking for. So I am going to start an initiative to modernize the topics there by making a discussion thread here (as admins and edit-power givers rarely read this board anymore) Here is how it'll work:

The process:

- You guys (bitcointalk community members) bring together problematic pages, or pages that are just plain out-of-date on this thread
- I will make a priority queue out of them depending on how serious the problems are
- You suggest to me the appropriate modifications to make to the page
- I post a verbatim draft of the new page in code tags on this thread
- We peer-review the draft to iron out any wrong info (I'm known to edit my posts to fix spelling errors so for a serious page like Bitcoin Wik pages I do not want to do that). Scratched out due to lack of interest
- Finally, I push the changes to Bitcoin Wiki.

The queue:

Items closer to the top have a bigger priority.

- Add BIP38 info to private key page
- We need P2WSH, P2WPKH sections of P2SH and P2WPKH as soon as possible, and redirect pages with those titles to new sections in Script.
- Create Multisig and P2SH-P2WSH pages and redirect them to Script >P2SH-P2WPKH.
- Transactions page has simplified sections on P2PKH and P2SH. Make sections there for other address types and include links to Script at the end of each section.
- on the Bech32 page, Process to derive Bech32 addresses
- In the Tor page, mention that Tor V3 can be used by Core in 0.21.0

Completed items:

- BitcoinPaperWallet a likely scam - page needs updated Done!

Staff is doing a great job at mirroring new BIPs let's leave them alone.

Other suggestions? I want to hear your thoughts let's make this a long-term thing guys. This is pretty much the only hope we have for updating these pages because of how fewer people are asking for edit permissions now.

Hello! Low priority request to add us to the list companies who have implemented CoinJoin at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/PayJoin_adoption

Suggested text:

Satoshi Coffee Co. | Receive - Yes | https://sats.coffee Bitcoin-only online coffee store

Thanks for all the editing you do and for considering this request. The more we can identify options and publicize methods to improve bitcoin privacy and fungibility, the better. Take care!

The entire pools section needs to be redone.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools
Pools that no longer exist, payment methods that are no longer relevant, etc.

Also there are a bunch of links on that page to pools / locations that no longer exist and should probably be removed before someone puts up something bad at one of the linked sites.

-Dave

I moved the defunct mining pools to another category. That should be a good start but I will need to scour the mining board for newer pools and add their info in there too.

Also I should really finish adding the ECC operations, and removing/marking all the multibit stuff that @fourna mentioned.

Hi,

Would i be able to get a pool added please?

The name of the pool is PEGA Pool- https://www.pega-pool.com/

First eco-friendly pool and is mentioned on this wiki here

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining_pool#History

Could the pool be added to the list on this page please?

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools

Also to be added to the list on this page too referring to Bech32 adaption

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bech32_adoption

If anymore information is needed i am more than happy to help and supply information for the pages. I have tried to get privileges on freenode and am still going through the process but if anyone could help and add to these pages i would be so grateful.

I am also more than happy to help modernise them two pages entirely and update them if i can get privileges or just provide all information for that page so it can be fully up to date if needed.

Horribly out of date, doesn't even list S17 and S19; I am not a mining expert so @DaveF and anyone else interest you'll have to give me input into the specs.
That's going to be a huge update [best of luck], but you can begin by using the following platforms [use ctrl + f for SHA-256]:
- Unfortunately, for some of the details you still need to go to each of the manufacturers' pages, but it's a good start.

Do you know what happened to bitcoin address utility designed by Caldwell? It seems it was removed from his blog for some reason.

As my main website has been affected by the collateral damage from my server's network becoming unreachable (as well as some other things like my video editing operation and my background eraser service - BitcoinCleanup is hosted on another provider and is unaffected), I'll probably be spending the next few days overhauling the Wiki.

Just an FYI.  Smiley

Filling in the Butterfly Labs page, will probably use ChatGPT to save time done!

Updating number of Bitcointalk profiles on Bitcointalk wiki page done!

Wow sir NotATether, are you an admin or just the key keeper? I assume that Luke has abandoned the forum all together and won't come back after the security scandal.

No, I am not an admin.  I asked Luke to make me an editor via IRC (before he got hacked).

nanotube and somethingweird (IIRC) are the other two wiki admins besides dashjr.

Can I have access? I'd like to share some of my findings related to brute force, lattice and various other attack vectors as well as adding some info about vanity private keys, vanity public keys and pub key hashes.
I have found interesting collision attacks which could be useful for researchers, you know if someone knows of a way to attack/ collide, there is 100% certainty that some others know it as well, so it's better to share it publicly for the involved parties to come up with their solutions.

Editors cannot make other people editors, but you can ask on IRC like I did and maybe one of the other admins will enable editing on your account. But it's far easier to just post your modifications on this thread.

On the wiki the list of testnet faucets needs an update: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Testnet#Faucets
This post seems to have a good list of live ones: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57912721

It's really just a bit of copy / paste for those changes.

Also the wasabi page https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wasabi_Wallet should probably mention what they are doing now with censoring some coins / taint analysis

-Dave

All done (finally!).

But I still need to make a page for gift cards.

Also I should probably expand https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Stratum , and maybe add info about Stratum v2 as well. How did this not get any new info for almost 9 years?

Still trying to find ways to maintain both the wiki and my site & youtube presence at the same time.

I could not find it in a search but IMO a not your keys not your coins page either needs to be added to tweaked in a way that it can be found in a search.
If it is there ignore that.

Along that a nice piece on the dangers of custodial exchanges and such.

For this particular wallet I need to make a history section for it, including their well-documented beginnings and updates, before I can write about the blacklisting controversy, otherwise it will look like name smearing instead of factual reporting. But I'll find time for that eventually.

@DaveF can you give me some more gift card services links? I already listed some on my Wiki talk page (pending page creation) but I got unstable power here Tongue

Sorry have not checked here in a while.
I would use this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208530.0;all as a good list of providers.

For the PayPal page: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/PayPal
Should probably add the fact that you can now buy & sell BTC if you are in certain countries but you cannot withdraw.

This particular adjustment has been published (along with the up-to-date news about withdrawals).

From now onwards I will mark each completed request with (1) merit, so make it easier for me to see what still needs to be done.

Back on topic, do you think there should a 'prioritization' of some changes over others.
Or, do you just want to take them as they come in?

Prioritization does lead to more discussion, which means more of your time.
As they come in means something important that should have been changed in 2020 is still showing and might be there a while.

-Dave

When I saw your suggestion I had in mind the Talk pages that are associated with each wiki page, but this won't work here because its so hard for people to get edit priviliges there.

So maybe a google doc or something like that would be a good alternative. Prioritization in the OP is necessary though, but I'm not sure how I will arrange time for that. Most likely I'll keep it all in my head and leave the suggestions as they are in the thread, for now.

Slightly off topic but you might want to go to Wikipedia and look up the term masochist. I guess I missed the post where you were talking about computing like it was 1985.

Everyone:

Sorry for the delay it's taking to put changes on the Wiki, and the huge backlog of changes as a result. I'm still adjusting to life on the terminal (in case you haven't heard, I'm browsing through lynx now), and I'm still trying to get a grip on MediaWiki syntax since I got no WYSIWYG editor no more.

It's quite difficult, I still have my credentials and they should still work even through a terminal browser, thanks to the PHP-minded nature of MediaWiki kind of sites, and sooner or later we will be rolling new changes and additions off the conveyor belt.

Godspeed.
