I've recently watched a talk that are illustrating how immigration isn't the long-term solution to the problem of a country and that it will only be more problem for that country to take in more immigrants, I'm not saying that taking in isn't a good thing especially if we're talking about people that are a casualty of war and they're seeking asylum, by all means take them in because they've already got no homeland to come back to in a while, they deserve the respite and the asylum away from war. Also, it's futile to fight illegal immigration and the smuggling of these immigrants because you can never win, the best thing that you can do if you're the country that's having this problem, you're probably better off helping that other country where you've got a lot of immigrants to prosper, that way, people from that country won't have any reason to migrate and make more money there since they're going to be fine with just where they are, it's what's the gist of the talk of that I've watched, I'll leave the link below, if you want to check it out.

Border opening can either be harmful or be helpful to a country, it works vice versa. It can be harmful in the sense that bad goods and services can be brought in,weapons can be smuggled in, illegal migration of non citizens can have quick access to a country when the border officials are corrupt.
It can also be helpful due to the price of goods and services because there will be competition in the market place there by making goods cheaper, it also strengthen international relationship.
Opening a country's borders often has negative implications. As the country is currently riddled with corruption the number of illegal activities will increase. But protection will be maintained if government controls are in place. There is freedom to travel between many areas as if you were traveling internally. There are no border checkpoints at the borders of the Schengen area. Also flights in the Schengen area are treated as if they are domestic flights you do not clear immigration upon arrival.

No country should open its borders illegally.  Each country has its own safeguards in place.  And that country is separated from other countries by its borders.  But if the border is not adequately secured and the border is not closed, many unethical activities can start from there.  Such as smuggling, human trafficking, arms smuggling, smuggling of goods or products by evading government taxes, these are very harmful to a country.  Because every imported and exported product is subject to tax.  From which the country benefits.  But any thing entering the country by tax evasion means for that country.  Moreover, arms trafficking, drug dealing can be a threat to a country.

Either of the decision of a country in opening the boarder or closing it, it has to be to the favour of the citizens because it both has benefit disadvantages, opening a boarder could serves a means for illegal entry of the people and other contrabands that could be dangerous to life, closing it could as well increase the economic challenge of the country especially when they lack the strength and capacity to be responsible for every demands and needs of the people, so looking closely into the condition around any of these decision could be the best thing to start with.

The effects of opening border,I think in this case opening of border have good and bad , because not only good and nice goods that was expected from the country can pass the border, bad goods too can pass I mean harmful product so opening of border has a good advantage and bad disadvantage too
Two this are involved, even some of our offers on duty in the border many of them do compromise they do take some money and allow a harmful product to pass the border all because of bribe . asurming our officers on duty are being real,no harmful product wouldnt have pass thro and fro but they do compromise

The negative effect of border opening can't be compared to the economic benefits of opening of border as it brings bring down price of goods and services

Actually. Keeling the borders of the country opened and having a net positive flux of immigrants moving to the country would make some good and services to increase in price through time. In the case of countries like the United States, a good example is the cost of house, apartments and shelter in general. Which would also translate to the increase of price of renting a place to live.
As people move in, regardless of their social status and income, they all need a place to stay, the more demand and the same offer will inevitably translate to an increase in price, as the demand won't stop any time soon as the USA continues to be an attractive destination for people from developing countries, then it is save to say homed won't decrease in value.

Also, in the country people are moving to do not have enhanced infrastructure in hospitals and in their crop production, they would be also dealing with inflation in medical services and the price of food. The same logic of supply and demand. In the case of the USA, they have very good food production and infrastructure compared to other nations.

This is a really difficult subject since open borders may lead to a larger interchange of thoughts and customs, as well as higher economic activity, but they can also pose security threats, as you indicated. So I believe it's critical to create a balance between security and transparency. One possible solution is to implement an organization of checks and balances at the border. For example, heightened security measures such as improved screening and background checks for persons entering the nation may be implemented, yet those who are approved to enter may continue to travel freely. This would provide a balance between safety and the enjoyment of mobility.

Border control serves numerous important purposes within a country, but it is crucial for the government to effectively communicate the reasons behind such measures and address any concerns or skepticism among the population. Transparency is key, especially considering past instances of inadequate border control.

By engaging in open and honest communication, the government can ensure that citizens understand the necessity of border control. This entails providing clear explanations regarding national security, including how border control measures help safeguard the population from potential threats and criminal activities.

In this case I would like to use my country as an example in Nigerian  the last past four years  was a tangle after the government shut down the boarder that duration difficulty was in the country cause the velocity of things was high in price and also there was a lot of economic situation all over the country and also food starvation will shower over the country and if it doesn't have a substantial boosting of local food production I will say that the country will be forced to go into starvation of food and will not be reasonable I think that should be it disadvantages right now

The government's intention for the border closure was good, but they never took the right part. Before a country's government is supposed to close down the border and restrict all foreign goods from entering, they should make sure that a lot of production has already taken place in their locality, and closing down the border will help the people start valuing and making use of their own-made products.

But the reverse was the case for Nigeria; it was all about politics. The government made a move in that hash closure because some groups of producers wanted to benefit the most from it. They stopped things from entering the country and later still took licenses from a few entrepreneurs, giving them to only selected people, who were to benefit the most from the border closure. In such a case, those in charge are now controlling the price of goods, which would have been at the lowest cost as they were home-made and not imported, but it seems like the reverse was the case.

So in the case of Nigeria, the border closure caused more harm to the citizens than the good it was supposed to bring. This is just based on my own observation and how I understood and witnessed the whole situation.

Open border policy, if the name implies that it's free to enter and reside in the country, simply doesn't work. Human has always needed a border. Look at your house, do you have a fence surrounding your house? Most of us have it for various reasons for protection/security and privacy. We are the same human being as our neighbor but they should also respect our property.

If we zoom out to the nation's level, there is so much wealth, education, and cultural disparity that will make regular "aliens" unable to assimilate with the locals. Hence, the selection (and education) process is strictly conducted to make sure these people can live better with the locals. It doesn't mean the "aliens" have bad intentions or bad behavior. They simply have so many differences and are unable to adjust/adapt, and then create a problem in society.

However, often, "open border policy" still includes selection processes and education to select the most suitable candidate to become a citizen.

The bad side is they'll never know the immigrants/refugees if they've got bad intentions or bad habits so it will eventually out when they are already there. Like this news in France, an immigrant attacked children.

Yeah, that's the good side of it. There will be more people working and there will be more taxation for them as it will contribute to the economy of the country where they'll go. Thus, it should be weighed properly if a country really needs them or not. Most citizens don't want to see immigrants in their country and that's one reality.

In this aspect what I have to say in this particular issue is that closing of border have a lot of effects in a society because the cause of commodities would be high than the normal so it is good for a government to open a border for the citizen for easy importation and exportation of goods from another country to come in in the country and also their own product to go outside their country that is the benefit and advantages of opening and closing of border

As human beings as a whole fail to meet basic reproduction needs to sustain the population going forward, immigration will likely be viewed by politicians as a way to keep the boat afloat and keep tax revenue coming in while society begins to collapse. The downside being that the immigrants will likely be relocating because they want a better life, and this are likely a less wealthy class so more prone to crime, etc.

Border opening has both good and bad effect, the good effect is the inflow of most consumed goods to the country that has low production of such goods, some country do not produce cars so the easiest way to bring in this cars is through the border, but the border need scrutiny in other to check the inflow of adulterated and contraband goods.

Don't you know what's border and it effects when is open and when is close, if border is close in any country they will not be importation and exportation of goods and services and that will result a hardship because the country will be using what they generate in their country and no goods will be coming to the country and any goods that enters the country will pay higher amount of fees to smuggle goods and it will result as high price of commodity because of the money paid in border to let in the goods, border opening will create more advantages to the country because price of goods and services will be cheap

What happens to the culture of a country when you systematically import immigrants into a country, illegally or not, who don't conform to the values of said country?

Just recently -- Syrian refugee goes on mass stabbing attack targeting children and women: https://news.sky.com/story/syrian-refugee-who-stabbed-british-child-and-five-others-in-annecy-knife-attack-was-denied-asylum-in-france-12899146

Turns out many of these Syrian refugees don't adapt to westernized culture very well.

The crime increases, and more cultural fragmentation within society leads to weaker social capital and structure. Sure, if you want cheap labor just bring in cheap workers from other countries. But there are long term impacts that go beyond the economic benefits. Culture can be lost in less than a generation -- a country is not a country without closed borders.
When these refugees entered Europe many of them were already radicalized and some were also radicalized in European nations they just can't stand or tolerate Western culture. It was disheartening to see a fully grown up sane man stabbing children. What did that innocent child do to you? Children that are peaceful and open-minded are the ones he wants to kill. Some people say it is because of religion and I tell them that it is not totally the truth because the Islam I know is a peaceful religion. It doesn't promote violence and the killing of innocent people.

There are still many Syrians living peacefully and productively in Europe. Some of them have integrated so much socially, some own good businesses and work in reputable organizations. So you cannot shut your borders because you might also shut out the productive human resources. There will always be changes or alterations of cultural heritage, there are some cultures that have disappeared. Like in Africa, many cultures have been diluted with the European lifestyle, my local language is been replaced with French and English words.

Fact every country is a company. Without benefits very few refugees would reside in places where money miraculously arrives in bank account for doing nothing. The residents of a company (country) are part of the assets. You may support any company or become a  sovereign individual.
The bribery system in place of supporting a particular company only works with freely printed money.
