Well, I understand you. In the Meta there are not many appeals. I hope you make a fair decision.
It's not what you think mate... Some good people have been banned and have even never appealed. So the number of people to be handled is actually bigger
There’s not much the mods can do about that until the issues have been raised though. You don’t expect them to go through every single ban once in a while to check for false positives do you?

Is this enough to avoid punishment for plagiarism? And what do you tell other banned users?
I'll gladly answer your question but first can you define what's enough by your standards? Because if you are just asking me a two year ban on signatures and a 60 day ban on posting and sending pms is enough for a user to learn his/her lesson after being given a second chance. The duration of the said bans will also show us if the member is really here to be active in contributing in the forum again or just wants to be here to earn money.
I will explain what I did not like.
This user very quickly received an alternative punishment and he began a countdown.
But this case became a precedent for other participants.
I have no complaints about punishment, it is really cruel but fair.
My claim is that the administration delays the consideration of other cases.

The more that you have contributed to the forum, the more chances that your pleading would be considered. Take hacker1010100 as an example, he became a valuable asset and contributed to the forum enough to give him the chance of redeeming himself, unlike people who got ban due to plagiarism and have a history full of shitposting and spamming. If I were a mod and I see their history, without a doubt, I would consider the one who contributed most.

There is also someone who recently got banned (tvplus006) and I am hoping that the penalty imposed would be less-harsher due to his outstanding contribution in busting out fake ICOs and scams.

This is the new policy that has been considered by the admin. There are quite good users who had been plagiarizing post long time ago and being reported. Now, theymos has considered lifting the accounts ban over a period of time for the user to continue his/her endeavour in joining cryptocurrency.

But, if the ban user is not a good poster then definitely there is no time frame for it for banning because it will be ban pemanently.

Just assume and believe what you found, and wrote above are right, it somehow shows that not all account buyers are bad guys. I knew that prominent users there tend to hate account buyers, for some understandable reasons: potential scammers, and spammers. However, I remembered that some of DT1 members wrote that it might be fine if someone buy an account, and only use it for bounty, with good quality posts. In that post, the DT1 member emphazies that it takes time to see progress of bought accounts, before removing red tags. I think it is fine with neutral tags, despite the fact that it is still unfair with users have to contribute hardly to rank up. Maybe that DT1 member will see my post today.  Smiley
Yes, that's true. His contribution to the forum was outstanding for him to be made a MOD. Buying and Selling of accounts are hardly acted upon, only when they bought the account for the primary reason for spamming and ruining the forum on the whole. Either we may or may not be a shitposter in our early forum days but we need to improve over time and need to contribute. Third World Bounty Hunters never realize this and would continue spamming the forum with their reports.

Hell yes, and I'm curious to know who that person is.  Hilariousandco alluded to it being a member who ought to be a mod, but the member was never named.  I have a short list of suspects, though.  In any case, I think it's fantastic that his reports are being acted on.
theymos way of appointing a MOD was very much different than we thought. Reports are a primary aspect but the reporter should have gained trust from theymos and the community for them to be considered for the position. We need to wait patiently, until the suspected plagiarism checker gets into limelight with his official appointment.

I was skimming through the early post histories of all the mods, and some really good posters here. Most of us have registered here for airdrops, to participate in small giveaways etc and just realized the effectiveness of the forum and turned ourselves into decent posters which we are now. Interestingly, I suspect one of the MOD's account was a bought account (not quite sure, but the evidences proves it). Few things which I observed were

1. A shitposting spmmer registered in this forum on 2014.
2. He was spamming till 2015 and all of a sudden his account was compromised in the May 25, 2015 server hack.
3. The MOD was having a Newbie/Jr. Member account back then in 2015.
4. He bought the compromised Sr.Member account from an account seller and started posting from that comprised account.
5. Later based on his good doings for the forum members, he was made a MOD by theymos.

P.S Not willing to reveal the name of the MOD.

I'm curious about tvplus006.  Why has he not appealed his ban?  He's been online since the ban was issued, and he's definitely another that would likely get a reduced punishment.  Like Lovesmayfamilis, tvplus006 exposed many scams and also contributed much to the forum.
I think some people just love to keep off some harsh responses that come off certain individuals who feel like "saints" here in Meta when one has made a mistake, so they just decide not to open an appeal.

Lovesmayfamilis was reduced punishment.

Yes, that's a good thing for the forum.  Lovesmayfamilis worked hard to expose scams, and is generally a very good contributor to the forum and the crypto community as a whole.  Never mind that I have her excluded from my trust network, it's not personal.

ETA: I didn't notice this as I was posting, but someone is appealing tvplus006's ban on his behalf.

Like Hilariousandco stated earlier on, It can't all be done in one day. You have to be a bit patient.
I saw his ban appeal and profile a few days ago and i believe he may get a signature ban. Let's wait and see.

And can you revert Perma Ban into a signature ban only ?
Or is it just the Admin ?
I believe Global Mods now have the ability to revert the Permaban to signature bans too if they  believe someone is worthy a second chance. Since there are so many appeals lately, i don't think only admin could handle all of them since he is so busy.

Is this enough to avoid punishment for plagiarism?
Apparently.  All ban appeals are judged on a case-by-case basis.

And what do you tell other banned users?
Usually that they're useless shitposters who never contributed anything to bitcointalk other than bounty spam and that they don't deserve to be unbanned.  I'm sure you've read a lot of ban appeal threads.

Seems like someone is doing an outstanding job in finding out the plagiarists lately.

I believe that any person should admit a mistake and fight to the end. English-speaking users do not like plagiarism, Russian-speaking users do not like injustice. I do not agree that one user is banned forever, and another user is banned for several months for the same crime. After my post
Lovesmayfamilis was reduced punishment.

Seems like someone is doing an outstanding job in finding out the plagiarists lately. Almost every one of us were shitposting idiots who  came to this forum to earn some satoshis. The mistakes we did in the early days are haunting us now and it seems like most of us should check out our early posts which we have made. Sad

Isn't that enough to get the same punishment?

You are English-speaking people so hate plagiarism, and here you cover the offender.

This user is an ordinary poster of ICO and BOUNTY in 2017-2018. I do not understand why you give him so many privileges in front of thousands of other users?

You do not find it funny when a man accuses others of plagiarism, but is he himself a plagiarist?

Global mods were given the ability to ban signatures only yesterday. Do you think we can get through all the appeals in one day? Be patient.
I can see ray of  hope.  And I have patience too. Waiting for my turn too.
Good decision by theymos.

Yes they have opened 79 scam accusations. None of us can decide who deserves the benefit of a reduced punishment that's for Admin's ... maybe Global Mods get a say I have no idea. The best course of action is to just support that user in their ban appeal thread. There is also the fact that a lot of information is available behind the scenes that we are not aware of.

Regardless of how many users receive a reduced punishment, it's a step in the right direction for the right users.

Several Russian-speaking users who have merits and recommendations have asked for forgiveness. Their requests are ignored. And this user is not even banned for plagiarism. Explain to me the principle of your justice?

Who they are or where they come from has no bearing on the decision. It's if they are deemed to be a net positive to the forum, and I imagine it takes a decent contribution to overcome plagiarism, especially if it was motivated by money.
