The fear of losing money through investment makes people prefer saving to investment. I was a victim but my own case was different. I have seen many people who were scammed through bitcoin and that made them to totally hate bitcoin and doesn't really want to hear anything about bitcoin anymore. But in my own case after I was scammed and I paid through bitcoin which actually was my first time of using bitcoin. I discovered it was a scam, then I became curious why they decided to scam through bitcoin and not through bank accounts. That curiosity actually led me to learn about bitcoin. I behaved so differently from many others.

I will also advise to hold your money tight instead of investing in what you do not understand.

Yes it happens all the time but scammers only scam people who know less about Bitcoin or have less experience. Those who have deep knowledge on Bitcoin cannot do such fraudulent activities. Even in my country now a kind of fraudsters are stealing money from common people by talking about investment in Bitcoin but in reality they embezzle the entire investment money without investing on Bitcoin. Even though common people are victims of such frauds many times, they are repeatedly falling into the trap of fraud without being aware. We must continue to raise public awareness by counseling against such fraudsters.

Some of the ideas that people carry about and it’s customary to some of investments is that, you tend to get periodic returns on investment. This has been some of the bases why you find new Bitcoin investors seeking packages with investment firms with hopes of having their money invested to get regular periodic returns.

Most of these tunes out to be acclaimed promises because, the market is unpredictable and even the self proclaimed experts can fail. So will the company and missing goals your coin.
That’s why. It’s better you learn to do it yourself or don’t do it until you feel your ready.

Scam is one thing that I can say that have tried to retard the global acceptance of bitcoin but it's actually normal because anything that  is good can also be use by same humans for bad things because the potential of it's good is exploited by human that tend to be successful over other people's sweat.

And again introducing bitcoin to people can be really tricky sometimes because some of those people you have introduced can turned back at you because maybe they experience a big decline in the market price.

The manner and approach in which you introduce bitcoin to others matter a lot. The kind of information that they have had about bitcoin from others or the kind of information that you might have given them might be the cause of their reaction and misconceptions. This is one thing that makes people look at things the other way around, most of the time.
 
Maybe the person you want to introduce to bitcoin has already conceived the idea of seeing bitcoin as a Ponzi scheme, which it's not, and as a result of many Ponzi schemes that have failed in his front, he will never want to believe anything that is related to that. The thing you need to do first is to make him understand what bitcoin truly is, and when the person in question has a full understanding of bitcoin, that's when you can invite him over to invest in it.
 
But what's the point of inviting someone who doesn't have an interest in bitcoin? They are not paying you a referral fee for that, so the best is to tell them how it works and allow everyone to make their choice. The kind of pressure you put on someone can make them think it's all a scam or that you have something to gain inside.

Due to scammers, the crypto world has become hell. It's hard to trust someone in the crypto world. A lot of people are deceived through crypto investment. Still, scammers are deceiving us through various means, which creates a negative impact on crypto. That's the reason a fear always works when someone thinks to invest in crypto. A lot of people think any kind of online investment is a scam. Even if you explain Bitcoin to them, they will continue to believe the same thing. Because their brains only know online investment is a scam. However, we have to prevent scams and should explain Bitcoin. It is most important to explain to someone how Bitcoin works and that it is not an investment scheme. It's like an asset whose value would increase. 

I'm not in doubt about getting paid via Bitcoin but, this platform isn't an investment platform... Correct that mindset of yours. If by any chance, anyone is found illegally impounding selfmade rules just to squeeze out funds from anyone, that account will be tagged and banned if it persist.

I understand the fact that some peeps are Afraid of buying and HODLing BTC... Don't tryna compel anyone; refer them to sound lecturing about the whole process and allow the shallow minded ones to freekout all they want.

talking about someone's fear of investing in bitcoin, it's not easy to persuade them to invest in bitcoin, I once told about a friend of mine who broke up with me because he sold his bitcoin at a loss during the bearish market in 2020, at that time he said told me that I had deceived him by persuading him to invest his money in bitcoin, even though if he had just wanted to be patient then there would have been no loss because the number of bitcoins he had would never change, now I am sure he regrets all the impatience he did at that time, bitcoin was not designed for the short term, but for the long term.

And I don't blame that ideology people have to be careful with what they invest in, there is a lot of scam projects all around and scammers  are always creating more means, and they will look for ways to convince you so that you don't have a choice than to give in, but this days people are becoming smarter in the sence that they are careful how they put their money online. And even with bitcoin now people are smart and at least they have little knowledge on how bitcoin works. Unlike back in the days that people don't believe in bitcoin but now even in the television you must have heard about bitcoin or even come across any kind of information on net.

When there are people like that, it's just best to stop encouraging them or explaining anything about Bitcoin. This is going to save you from trouble, debates, and your most precious times. If you tell them tons of good things about Bitcoin, they will remember nothing and if you tell them one bad thing about it like its volatility which is mostly a bad thing to many then they will remember it as a bad thing wholly. In general these internet scams, it's true that it has discouraged a lot of people from looking into Bitcoins and taking an interest in them. But we can't blame them if they're missing it and protecting themselves as if they're on the bad side upon showing interest in it. As for investing in Bitcoin, we shouldn't invest in platforms but in actual Bitcoin. That's the misconception when people think in order for them to invest in Bitcoin, it should be in a platform.

It is not the fear of being scammed that makes people not to invest in bitcoin because bitcoin holding on noncustodial wallet have the characteristics that the holder have full control. If the holder is scared and want secure wallets, cold wallets or multisig wallet can be used  for the holding.

If I will have to say it again, it is ignorance. Bitcoin is not meant for everyone. It is meant for people that understand it if they want to avoid hack.

Indeed, this platform is a straightforward book of answers to all the queries that a newbie have on their minds. And even if there is not a single answer to a query then you can openly ask here and will be given a reasonable answer by many international and different types of answers which will explain your query in different simple ways.

We all here try to contribute, try to help each other.

And the experience you have faced while sharing the idea of BTC with your friend is not something new, he will believe you when you start to make money out of it and then he will realize that he should have adopted this technology with you but if he is not adopting it right now like the way you have adopted it.

Then please do not force him, because if you will, then he will definitely take it as a scam.

Bitcoin is not a scam coin. People are afraid of investing in Bitcoin because clear information about what Bitcoin is and how Bitcoin works and how Bitcoin is used is not well known.
Bitcoin is not a platform, but Bitcoin is a currency that can be used for payment processing and with Bitcoin anyone can make transactions from one address to another throughout the world.

Modern society should be aware and know Bitcoin even though I realize that there are areas that lack supporting facilities such as no internet access so information about Bitcoin does not reach there.
In general, information about Bitcoin has reached almost all modern society.
I think the fear of investing could be because the first type of investment they made was not in Bitcoin but in another project which caused them to lose money so the fear of investing will not disappear.

I say this on the basis of not fully understanding the meaning of your statement.

This is one of the reasons why we need to ask questions and make sure our curiosity is being questioned. There are people that had made the same mistakes we are about to make so we need to make sure that we don't easily make decisions without scrupulous examination of decision.

The Crypto world currently is full of scam and we need to make sure that we don't allow greed to eat us up. Most people that we see getting scammed are people that are always ready to make careless mistake because of there too much love to make fast money. If only we are ready to discipline ourselves and thinking seriously before choosing what we do, then we are going to keep making a good investment.

Due to the high rate of scammers around the globe, the majority of people have entirely lost interest in everything to do with investments, including bitcoin and other types of investments, so I wouldn't claim it is just with bitcoin that people have lost interest in. 

Because of people's gullibility toward bitcoin, quite a good number of people have been duped by it, and they are not happy about it. I wouldn't hold it against them in the slightest of their refusal to invest in bitcoin. They do remember the lost financial experience they suffered at the hands of scammers who ask them to invest in bitcoin, the same way you do as introducing bitcoin to them as a tool for investment.

One would not fully accept investing in bitcoin with simple convincing, without doubting it, that you plan to defraud him as well, after having that kind of experience years or months ago.

Don't feel bad if a friend of yours thinks poorly of bitcoin. Due to his prior Bitcoin experience, he is simply acting on that. It's possible that someone stole his money by convincing him to invest in bitcoin.

Those people who lose interest because of fear of being scammed refer to Altcoin and not Bitcoin, and they don't want to learn and understand the main principles behind Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. They also lack knowledge about blockchain technology.

There is a difference between an investment platform and a Bitcoin investment; when I hear investment platform, my mind is going to an altcoin or centralized platform where you will give them your money to control for a while and give you back with some interest when they are done, while bitcoin investment is using your money to buy Bitcoin, keeping it in your personal wallet, and waiting till you are on profit before selling.

Op just as one of the member made mention I'll like to reiterate it that this (bitcointalk) isn't an investment platform it's rather a community of crypto enthusiasts that come together to rub minds about our common interest crypto.

Moving further I will agree with OP that the environment we find ourselves can be a hindrance to we not being open-minded to new ideas just so sudden, it's all about giving them time. Because you accepted the idea when it was first introduced to you doesn't mean people around you will do same.
A mistake we shouldn't commit is to force or try to convince people about investing in bitcoin when they haven't willingly out of their volition agreed to. The best is to ask them to do their own research and with time they will voluntarily adopt the idea just like in this thread BITCOIN: Give people time

If we have a poor security practice, then we will also need to fear of everything happening because we don't know how we make it appear being vulnerable to them and they attack, but when we are confidence in what we do, we will not have anything to get scared about since we know what we are doing and the safety we practice for our own security benefits, we should have an idea of the expected measures to take right before we make an investment and after we also did.


Don't misguide the people of the forum, especially the newbies, this platform is meant for bitcoin discussions, and not to talk about other investment platforms as the main objective for it creation, you can earn as well from here, but that also is a secondary advantage, learning and discussion on bitcoin is why this forum was created in bringing people together from all nooks and crannies of the world that are bitcoiners.

Aside from the fact that your friends see your idea of bitcoin as a scam because of their lack of information about bitcoin and what it stands to represent in the financial sector and being as an alternative to the fiat traditional currency which faces a lot of regulatory toughness,  this have made Bitcoin become the best alternatives.


Anyone that sees Bitcoin as a get-rich-quick scheme will easily get deceived by all those investment platforms that promise higher returns which are mostly unrealistic and untrue and in the end scam them, making them have that bad feeling about Bitcoin instead of them building the knowledge they keep their misconceptions and thereafter generalized everything about bitcoin being a scam.

This shouldn't be an excuse anymore as anybody still thinking this way is been ignorant, Bitcoin isn't a platform but a currency and there's no way it'll scam you when you make your investment rightly by buying from exchanges that aren't fraudulent. You only get scammed when you try to buy or sell Bitcoin using scam exchanges or trust random scammers online claiming to be Bitcoin merchants.


This statement is kind of confusing but Bitcointalk purpose is to connect Bitcoin enthusiasts, the platform isn't an investment platform or place to earn Bitcoin for a living, anything that you earn while you're on the forum should be seen as a privilege and not as a main source of income. People welcomed here aren't people that their sole purpose of been on the forum is to earn but to learn.


The only time I can think about our environment contributing to the fear of we not investing in Bitcoin is when they're banned in our country but to date no country has officially banned Bitcoin and when you talk about other types of fear, the internet is opened to everyone to do their search and we shouldn't be influence by what others are saying concerning bitcoin but DYOR to find out the truth or you'll be deceived and miss out on an opportunity to invest in Bitcoin early (again).
