Thanks to both of you, but I have never felt better than anyone including the two of you who I consider to be my seniors in this forum.

I'm happy that my 500 merit target has been achieved, and now I just need to be patient to rank up to Hero in the next few months. But I started to set a target of 1000 merit even though it is still quite far to be achieved at this time. Nothing is impossible, the journey is still quite long and I can expect it sooner or later.

And now, I locked this thread and will return once Hero rank is reached.

Best Regards_

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
_BlackStar earned the merit that is enough to be a Hero Member. Man, that only tells that you are contributing well to the forum as seen on the merit you are earning. Of course, we can be active or inactive sometimes, but because we love the forum, we will never leave it.

I've been here since 2016 but I'm not a good merit earner but I still continue to be active to the best I can.
People like you who earn merits really inspire me and for sure those who are aiming to rank.

Lastly, the most important is the contribution to the forum, and ranking up will just follow, sometimes you won't even notice it.

You are growing very well so far. Quite often I see posts and threads from you that are constructive, informative and quality.
The topic that you create with brilliant ideas that are useful for forum users make merit always stop at each of your posts.
Finally you have reaped good results since _BlackStar was listed on the Bitcointalk forum.
Get ready, after sufficient activity, Sr. Members will be a thing of the past for you.
I think that's how the merit system works for all forum members especially for those who really care about the quality of their posts. The merit system introduced by theymos is to improve the quality of posts so that anyone who doesn't do it will find it difficult to rank up because on the other hand the merit system also functions as one of the conditions for rank up.

Anyone can earn merit and rank up, but the quality of their posts and knowledge will largely determine how quickly they accumulate merit on their profile. _BlackStar is one user the number of merit is higher than the number of activity at the Sr level and there are several others as well. I also want to congratulate him after successfully obtaining 500+ merit, sooner or later he will become a Hero member.

Even if you can't post every day on the bitcointalk forums, I'm pretty sure you'll reach a new level in the next few days.
You're wrong, I need enough activity points to rank up and I can't get them in just a few days because you and I or anyone else will only get 14 points in 14 days unless under certain circumstances if you can claim your potential activity points. This means that I have to keep posting actively in each period.
Yes. The amount of activity is also required to reach a new rank. I mean, you don't have to be online every day by making lots of posts, With daily tasks on the project you advertise, the activity count will be achieved as well.

Once again I congratulate you, you are now a HERO Member. Even though your rank is still Sr. Member, but the number of Merit gains (503) has already reached Hero rank.

Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Maintaining quality while improving it are two things that are quite challenging if it is not a habit. I just want to achieve good posting standards for every post I make regardless of whether someone considers it quality or not and it has become a habit that I always do based on my skills and knowledge. In the end I just thought that merit wasn't everything I needed to think about even though in reality it was necessary to rank up.

Since _BlackStar was born on the Bitcointalk forum October 19, 2020 you have progressed well, it doesn't take long for you to be in the rank of Sr. Member. What you are doing here are quite good, there many other users who dream to be in the new rank soon, but they are not as lucky as you.
I would say you are a lucky man, today your merit has reached 462, you need 38 more minutes to be in Hero rank.
Even if you can't post every day on the bitcointalk forums, I'm pretty sure you'll reach a new level in the next few days.

Congratulations _BlackStar.

Looks like I'll have to be patient for the next few months to reach Hero rank [around September] as my activity aren't enough right now. So far I've managed to get 448/500 merit for Hero rank and only need a minimum of 52 more merit to qualify. But it looks like I will have to wait patiently like some other users whose merit amount is sufficient to become a high ranking member.
See after only after few days your merit stats have grown and now you need only 38 merits to reach the Hero rank ignoring the fact that you lag the activity for it.See you have gained additional 14 merits in period of two days which simply justify the post quality and your speed of merit earning and effective contributions to the forum.

I don't think that's the case now because I just want to keep my merit count above my activity count for a long time. I'll probably try my best though this isn't really important to mention.
Keep up the work same way you have been doing without taking merit perspective into your mind because at some point they may not be delivered as per expectations but we need to maintain that good work we are doing on forum. But speaking frankly there are now so many new members who have maintain this thing of more merits than activity including you and it will be same as activity will be delivered after every two weeks and that also 14 which means you can cope up with that.

To all my forum friends, stay calm even though it seems the world not safe right now. The war must end soon and I love peace.  Wink

The fact that you have achieved such high amounts of merits in a relatively low amount of activity points is a testament to your post quality and contribution to the forum. You have currently achieved what 80-90% of all the forum members  cannot do, which is to rank-up and get out from the "Jr. Member hell."

Continue what you are doing OP as your contribution is what makes this forum a better place for all beginners to visit. Like what I always mention to newbies, if you do your responsibility as a forum member, then merits would be the least of your concern!

Yeah you will have to be patient cause the Hero rank is more or less inevitable for you, you are almost across that line, just a little steps more, and in my opinion it is much better to get the required merits and then wait for your activity score to accumulate so you can move over to the next rank.
It's always easy to see high quality posters getting more merit on the forum from different users. Since I got to know this user on the forum, I can honestly say that he is a quality poster with a number of contributions to the forum. _BlackStar is also quite active as a spambuster user and in my opinion he deserves to be beside to Ratimov, actmyname and other best spambusters. I've also sent him a few merits although there may never be many.

Looks like I'll have to be patient for the next few months to reach Hero rank [around September] as my activity aren't enough right now.
It's true that you are required to wait a while until your activity score is sufficient, but don't worry about that because I believe if you post regularly every day between activity periods then you will also be promoted. 7 months is not a short time to move up the ranks, but a lot of people take longer to get there like me.  Cheesy

I am very happy to hear this! I am truly happy for you. Your merits say much more than your achievement of a new rank. At first, I did not take you seriously, thinking that your desire to be on the forum would quickly dry up. But fortunately, this did not happen. You are a good poster, I sincerely congratulate you on reaching the rank of Sr. Member and wish you a speedy achievement of the hero rank.
Unfortunately, I'm too bad at stating it to you.  Cheesy

You can translate whatever you see either from the bad side or from the other side which is different from mine. We all come from imperfection, but our interest and desire to learn has set us apart from the rest. You two are also not pesky posters, I know how you achieve all this based on the history of the merit you have earned and shared among users. Good job to you guys too, I appreciate it.

Note: I just want to increase my contribution to the forum more. Really knowledge is more valuable as the best benefit that I can absorb from this forum than anything else.
That's to be expected, knowledge should always take priority over anything else even if you have the ability to detect cheaters, spammers as well as ban evasion. I know they all are important part of this forum where they all can be useful in keeping forum safe from rulebreakers but when you put knowledge aside then you are a loser in this forum called crypto library.

Regarding your success in rank up to Sr, I think it will be a guarantee for anyone who knows how the merit system works and that is post quality. You get a lot of merit because you are a good poster and I think you really deserve more in the future until you rank to Legendary. Congratulations on your current achievement, you will reach Hero in the next few months if your merit and activity count are sufficient.

Hi friends, I am happy forward this message to you that today I have been promoted to Senior Member. I have nothing to boast in front of you all but improvement is always expected from every low rank user like me.
I am not new to your work. The short time you have spent here you have been contributing immensely to the forum...reporting ban evaders and plagiarism.  Anyone can  browse your post history and have an idea of what you are about. My favorite post is Myth vs Facts and My Assumptions about Bitcoin. Congratulations! Hero rank is not far away.

But that's the key, time.  I wouldn't try to rush it, _BlackStar.
The Pharmacists, I will not rush now and will do so very carefully. But I would be very rude if spammers really never stop publishing their spam posts just to fulfill their weekly quota.

And yet, you still have better stats than a lot of other users out there [try to see the glass half-full, as opposed to being half-empty]!
- Despite saying the above things, you're being unfair to yourself by comparing your stats with others [all of us have different journeys].
It is my humility not to boast with pride for the good efforts and contribution so far. There is always a reason to know that above the sky there is still a sky, so I don't think I'm being unfair to myself.

I have no doubt you'd reach those ranks in the future, but if I were you, I'd focus more on improving your unhandled reports [it's not a big deal, but you have "a lot of those"]:

I can tell you that the moderators have worked faster than I imagined. 2 out of 900 tagged bad [double report], I only realized it now. But now you can see the latest results.

I know this is not a good statistic from me because there are many other users who are much stronger than me.

Being a spam busters is not a bad way in my opinion if it is an attempt by one of the users to raise awareness of the spammers about the quality of their posts.

maybe all of us here unknowingly have given and done things that are useful for the forum, which is basically: do what is in your mind, maybe it's better in every way.
Yeah.  I actually got started on bitcointalk as pretty much a troll, and if you look back at some of my earliest posts you'll see that a lot of them were quite nasty.  That's because while bitcoin had attracted my attention, I lurked on the forum for months before registering and saw what a shit show it was here--and also how little censorship there is with regard to what can be written.

I had no intention whatsoever of growing a reputation here, getting on DT, getting green trust, etc. when I joined.  I didn't even know a hell of a lot about bitcoin, but boy did this forum give me an education.  Seriously, what little I do know about crypto (and it's still less than most members here) is because of bitcointalk and all of the very smart people here.

There's no "club".  That term is just used to refer to the members who are most active nowadays, or have the loudest opinions, and that can and will change over time.  What I do know is that if you stick around long enough--and post frequently--you'll develop a reputation.  Whether it's a good one or a bad one depends on you and what you post, but over time members will become familiar with your name.  But that's the key, time.  I wouldn't try to rush it, _BlackStar.
