In my point of view, the future of Bitcoin will be stable. there are some issues which will verify my argument. Day by day it's getting bigger and popular to the people and gaining credibility as well as acceptability as a virtual currency.
Not only that but also creating high rate of value so I think, Bitcoin will be last longer.
yes no doubt that the future of bitcoin is really stable, because the number and investors of bitcoin are increasing from time to time, which is making bitcoin more trusted reliable and will also make bitcoin more stable.

The question you brought up about whether governments are considering buying up bitcoins is an interesting one.

It looks like the classic Prisoner's Dilemma problem. All governments would be better off if bitcoin died out, but the first government to initiate a bitcoin-reserve buying program would be in a much better position than other governments if bitcoin does become ubiquitous.

I think in the world of American hegemony we lived in between 1990-2000 there would be no bitcoin buying, but in an increasingly bipolar world of East vs. West that is developing today along with a few fragmented rogue states such as North Korea and Iran, someone will defect and start buying bitcoin which will trigger a cascade of strategic buying.

Disagree about the creation of i-coin though. No nation has enough power to unseat a truly global currency like bitcoin once it becomes ubiquitous, unless they conquer a super-majority of the world.

good described situation in the world, but, i dare think a bit more optimistic on moral side of the world's civilisation ..
technology advances the speed that morality can not follow, so, we will skip globalism and step forward to universalism ..
but if we do not calculate god ( divine, goodness ) in that equation, well, probably the evolution will ask hegemons to realize their dominations ..
that is the war, i see solution in implementing secular god and try to use it to prevent any future disasters and distresses ....

Reading through this post made me to be careful of what i comment so that tomorrow people will not come back to my post and laugh at me. Some said bitcoin is dead and this was just 3 years ago now bitcoin is worth more than $2000 who knows maybe in 3 years time bitcoin will be worth more than 10,000 the question then would be how many bitcoin would i be holding then.

Day by day it's getting bigger and better so I can predict that the future of Bitcoin very stable. More more function should be added and friendly which attract people to come join here. When more people come here more activity will run and this is the way to be sustainable.

Yes that's true the future of bitcoin is very stable. Though the price is very unstable but that is in the positive way. And we are near to the mass adoption of bitcoin, what's happening today is that the adoption is gradually being accepted by the people. By that way, people will have the time to see the growth of bitcoin in the future.

I belive that price will keep rising in future, also bitcoin will be more popular in future for sure. Best way to see what happen is wait for it.

Yeah we don't know what will be the scenario in future, but one thing is sure that bitcoin will be more popular in future and it will keep on rising too.
Yes and now we can see bitcoin's price has increased to $ 2010, this is really a great thing and it is also evidence of the growing popularity and development of bitcoin in the future. Maybe we do not know about the future but we can rely on what's going on to predict the future of bitcoin, a future where all over the world accept bitcoin and see bitcoin as a common currency, Bitcoin will open up new future in digital currency. We just need to trust and wait, in the future we will become rich with bitcoin

Bitcoin has a very long future but there are still many competitors who want to drop it but for me bitcoin is still the number one.

There is growing consensus that a basket of cryptocurrencies (or, more generally, decentralized non-fiat currencies) have gained a sufficient foothold to exist alongside traditional fiat currencies. There's little to suggest that fiat currencies are going away, if that's what your question is asking. Supply shocks and over-management / poor management of fiat currencies will continue to drive non-fiat currency growth.

I don't think bitcoin will take over all payment systems or anything like that but I think in the future it will both be a traded asset and something that works in the background. For example you send money from one account to another and the banks will use bitcoin in the background in some way. This will bridge the divide between the technically competent and technically incompetent. Cash for instance is never going away nor is national currencies so the future has to be something that will link currencies to bitcoin.
While taking over all those payments systems could be great, bitcoin does not need that, bitcoin only needs to become part of that and become a real alternative as a payment option and with that bitcoin will be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

What I think is yes the banks and also the government banks in my country are showing interest in bitcoin and also if you to them to sell bitcoin they will give you a better rate than compared to most of the rates offered by other several exchanges.

How do you use Bitcoin? Bitcoin has opened up many possibilities that were not possible without Bitcoin. I use Bitcoin to "help people with a few clicks of my mouse". How you can also that is described in posts found at

It may still get breaked if the system running itself will fall down and will not get fixed,no matter how strong it is there is still a small holes on its security and weaknesses among its goods

When they really want to break it,no matter how we took care of it  they'll sure find a way , a lot of ways to break it, we just need to have believe that we will get successful in bitcoin .

I am just curious. Many of us believe that Bitcoin is the future currency but we also know that there is a limit on what we can mine. My question is, let's say we are already in the future, the Bitcoin is currently the universal curreny then we had mined all of the remaining Bitcoin, what will happen next?
At that point miners will need to cover their cost with only the fees they charge for every transaction, at that point bitcoin will have become very valuable so I think by that time some whales would have gotten out of bitcoin and this will allow for more bitcoin to be distributed among the general public.

I don't think that those whales are going to get out of bitcoin, that's why they are called whales. They are influential and with their power to manipulate the market of bitcoin why there's a need to get out of it if they are benefiting on this type of industry. Maybe they will retire if they had plenty of savings already but the future of bitcoin is really bright.
At some point they will want to cash out and enjoy the benefits of their fortunes so I think some will actually sell a portion of their coins so they can enjoy their lives without any worried in the future, or maybe you are right and they never sell but I think greed is going to strike at some point.

Come to think of it, for example you are a whale on this market and you are getting good money on it with every movement. So do you think you are going to stop with this type of trade or career? You will not even need to find your day job or real job for it because once a whale is always a whale, then it can take up an assurance for the rest of your life.

I also think that there's no need for the whales to earn a lot since their already whales they just enjoy their life or give some in charity unless they were not satisfied in their money yet that they keep on investing and risking it.

That's why they are called whales because they are big fish and they are earning bigger than ever. But it's up to them if they are going to give some of their funds from bitcoin in charity. They have now a secured future because of bitcoin and that's why they are not going to quit or even to stop with their bitcoin career.
yes that is right that now most of the people have started career with bitcoin. as bitcoin is now giving good opportunities to the people to make good profit from bitcoin through trading alt coin and so many other sources. for example from gambling we can also make good profit but gambling is more risky way of making money.

Bitcoin as an investment has a promising future but as a currency in our day to day life I think it needs some fixing with respect to the delayed confirmations and huge transaction fees.
I agree with you. when we talk about bitcoin, we should talk about investment too.
As you said, "Bitcoin as an investment has a promising future" but when we talk about the delaying of transactions confirmations, we see that is not good for us. I mean people who want they transactions confirm very fast; This problem should be fixed.

But bitcoin is still the best of them all because if we all migrate to using a different coin, it will suffer from the very same problem. The fees will increase and the transaction time will increase as well. Since most of our investments are already in bitcoin, might as well just stay here since we'll have the same problem with other coins anyway but there can be a slight improvement but that's just not enough reason for us to do a massive migration

This holds true only so far

But since the problem, as you yourself say, is very well formulated already ("people already know the problem"), while understanding a question is half an answer (or, in other words, a problem well-stated is half-solved), we should expect a new generation of coins coming up which would specifically aim at fixing (or rather solving) this issue fundamentally. Basically, that's what Lightning Network is supposed to do, and I think this not the only viable solution possible. So we have an answer which is already there, it just needs to be tested and implemented (and someone may already be doing exactly that)
