Oga calm down atleast e still dey on point because as the country be now the matter tire everybody and na all these inflation dey affect dollar rate and even the price of commodity for the country. Although I know enough talk and discussion dey open about all these things for the forum but atleast e better pass all those nonsense wey newbie dem dey post for the forum. The only thing to save this country sef na to just sell the country or better still divide am sef because like this we no even get directions wey we dey go.

Bro for me I think they can oo, who made the situation like this it's still them let me tell you these government officials know what they are doing if the government are ready to adjust things bro I bet you it won't take up to a full first tenure but now they are not satisfied with what they have how then will they satisfy others just that the only thing making me feel like we still have leaders is just that when you commit a crime they would come for you apart from that nothing no government at all in this country.

Which situation do they want to change when there is no work from the government those who have their certificate are now working for a private owned business person who does not have a certification in his name.
Walk round and show me government job you know now that are recruiting workers. It is an insult in a country where they would share 3 cups of rice when there is a little problem and pen to book a very high amount for what they call support.

If Nigeria is to be better, we masses have a great role to play. Even if we have a good leader today, Nigeria will just change a bit. If we want a real difference, it will begin from us. Nowadays, almost everyone is corrupt and everyone want to take advantage of the position they are to cheat. This country can only be better of such mentality is been changed from us.

so what you are saying in essence is that if the marketers buys their goods during the period when the price of dollar was high and it affected the price they bought goods in the market, they should reduce their price and sell bellow  the amount they bought their goods just because the price of dollar suddenly came down? the market women are business people that are still looking for profit and because of how unsteady the price of goods is in the market, you cant blame them whenever they leave goods at certain peak price at moment when ideally they are supposed to bring it down.

even if they are selling product that has nothing to do with exchange rate, as long as the price of transportation and other things they also buy is increasing, its only normal for them to join in increasing the price of there commodity. but like your topic says, to solve the current economic crisis is not something that should be left in the hands of our government alone cause the reality is that they've failed to proffer any meaningful solution at the moment. each and every one of us have the responsibility of contributing our quarter  in ensuring that we depend more on locally manufactured goods rather relying on imported goods that is affected by dollar to naira relation.

if only we can improve on the quality of our locally manufactured goods, no one will be looking outside that much. because of how good we have become in the production of Garri, even if other countries decide to bring in their garri to us, no one will want to take that above our regular garri but look at the quality of local rice for instance, the quality is too bad that regardless of how cheap local rice becomes, i will never choose it over imported rice and that's also what's applicable to other goods that are imported. the quality of our locally manufacture products are very bad and if we don't want to improve on it, we will still continue to depend on imported goods and the depreciation of the naira to the dollar will continue to become our major problem.

Secondly, the demand for farm products is high now because they are scarce due to the news that floods will hit some parts of Nigeria last year. The news of the flood made some farmers who used to be affected by floods harvest their farm products prematurely in order not to be at a total loss. When the farmers, who are not always affected by the flood, harvest their farm products, they will have no choice but to sell them at a high cost because farm products will be hard to get.

In my opinion, i know think say na the farmers they increase the price of the product, some farmers no get any other job doing apart from farming, sometimes no matter what dey invest no be everytime dem too dey get the kind of profits they always want. At this moment many farmers are selling their farm products at a cheap price because sometimes if new farm product comot the price dey reduce, and sometimes e no dey reduce, so some farmers wey no get anything than to sell their farm product to solve some other problems, them dey sell am at a cheap prices, na all this rich people dey buy am keep at a cheap price, if time come wey everybody dey shout for country say foods stuff price dey increase, na that moment all these rich people wey buy am at cheap prices go dey pack am comot, since all the products no dey plenty for market again and we no get choice than to buy am, at the end they will now begin to sell it for us at a high price, e dey affect many farmers because that time dem no dey get money to buy am again. This life no hard na we dey do each other, today if this farmers decided to dey hide their products, i won't blame dem because all this suffreness don too much.

For this country na those rich people they wicked people wey no fit afford money to buy whatever they want, we dey here they complain about the economy and cost of products, if you check those rich men store the kind of products wey dey buy keep and they don't want to pack am comot until the poor people don suffer finish. Some farmers don dey get sense dem know say this country is heading to where we no know, they don start to dey hide their farm products to, e better to keep am for house than to sell and suffer in this economy later I believe say if all these rich people pack the one wey dey keep for house comot, the price might reduce i think.

Yes ok. The government can’t fight alone oo. We all need to walk together it’s a collective effort specially with the way things are going. Just look at how people increase price’s of things without even thinking of the great effect it’s costing the masses after they would blame the whole government about everything.

So you don see am say we no go fit even blame the farmers Dem wey increase the price of their product abi? Including those persons wey dey sell, if them no increase the price of wattin Dem dey sell Dem no go fit meet up for the trade business again. And if the government come say Dem wan regulate the price of things for the market, den that na wickedness because dem never do their own part as the government and Dem wan come put their blame of failure for marketers head. If the government bring down the price of fuel by bringing back the fuel subsidy then many things price go come down, even if say the dollar to naira rate still dey stand.

This is where the government have to come in and take action.
It will be very difficult for people to reduce the price of things on their own. Naturally humans are greedy in nature and will want to take every opportunity to their advantage. The government should now impose prises for all the locally produced goods. They should make the law and enforce it, the watch out if the prices of locally manufactured commodities will not drop within a week. The problem is our government and politicians have shares in those companies that are producing local goods.

We can also help by not using this inflation as an advantage to make money. Because many business people are using this opportunity of inflation to add increase the price of their goods and services.  Doing this will make things more difficult for us.

For a very longtime the price of fuel have been 660 naira since July 2023, it was about some weeks ago that the price of fuel increased above 660naira. And when the price of fuel was 660 the price of commodities,  services and other things have been increasing everyday if I am not mistaken, so tell me what is the cause of the steady increase of things when the price of fuel is stable which was 660 naira. But you will notice that every little increased of the dollar price of things change immediately,  we all can testify to do because I believe majority of us here base in Nigeria. And when you as marketers why has the price of this item changed they will quick point to dollar,  and which is true.

I know the angle you are coming from because I thought the same too. Op was supposed to give solutions to how we citizens of Naija are to help our government get us out of this hardship we are all experiencing in Naija. 
From my view, I think OP wants our local farmers to help our country by reducing the price of the farm products they produce in our country. The ideal will be difficult to achieve because our farmers are spending so much money on labor, and when they harvest their farm products, they still pay a lot of money for transportation because of the high cost of fuel to get their farm products to the final consumers. By doing all these things, the only way for them to make a good profit in their farming business is to sell their farm products at a high cost.

Well the matter is critical. Nobody should deceive us again this government will not or can't do anything to stop this hard instead it will increase the more because if this government can do something he would have done some to sustain the hard first before fighting the situation to be over but he is very much relaxed that nothing is happening in the country. Tinubu is clearly for the rich people and not for the poor. And the poor are the Electorate who went to the polling units to vote the president while the rich people only spend money in the election and were not going out to vote.

Op Nigeria economy is petrodollar economy so it petroleum popular known as fuel control the price nod goods and services the more the price of fuel increase the more everything in the country increase as well. And you have to know that Nigeria has no constant electricity and all the major businesses use generator light to power their stores and shops so the more fuel price increase the more it affects them so they have to increase theirs to meet up the expenses.

Bro initially I been no wan response to this your thread, but you talk something wey I strongly disagree with, I mean wen you say things wey we dy produce for here, the marketer dy take advantage of people dy skyrocket the price even though e no get anything to do with dollar.

See make I tell you, Nigerian economy is built around our crude products such as, fuel, diesel, gas and kerosene,so anything wey affect the price of this crude products I mentioned so dy always reflect on the price of goods for we country, this inflation we dy experience so na the results of subsidy removal, dollar increase have less impact on farm products, because we no dy important our food, like garri, beans, rice and plantain.

So as as e be so even farmers dy complain say the money to use transport the farm products come market dy too high compared to before, and all that cost must reflect in the price of the farm product, so my brother, dollar increase no too get leaverage on our economy like subsidy removal, so to me oo, na the high cost of diesel, fuel and gas dy cause tins to cost, no be the marketers.

Sadly enough, we may or may not have marketers on the local board to see this message, so what do you suggest we the buyers do other than to bear the heat?

As citizens ready to fight for ourselves and for our country, we can individually own and work on farms, so as to provide food for ourselves and our family first and eventually sell these farm produce at cheaper rates to others close to us. Why is a bag of pure water 500 naira when the content isn't even pure?

Errm... Have you ever heard of chlorine?  or boiling water to destroy germs. Anyway, maybe it's cause I'm an economist. On a serious note though, there are probably marketers who are exaggerating prices, but the economy touch everybody, no be lie. God would keep us.

As I see the topic, I think say na something else naim I wan read not knowing say, this na just the same with other post about government and inflation. After I read everything I no even see good points about how we fit take join hand fight with this inflation, but rather you just scratch the surface come leave am like that. you of all person supposed know say this kind of idea na to write am as Comment instead of creating a new topic. Abeg make una try clean the board small from inflation talk, or just make one post standby to dey discuss about the inflation instead of the one wey everybody dey create em own topic to discuss one idea. This generation are in the the worst economy era and i think with level we have gotten to the goverment is helpless which they need every citizen to help fight this difficult situation. Like if you go the market, you will see things that has nothing to do with dollar, commodities that are being made from our own country very expensive and this are the same people complaining about the bad government.  When dollar increases the price of goods and services increases too and if dollar price drops the price of commodities still remain the same instead of to also drop in price. It is just as if some people are just using this difficult time as an advantage to make money for themselves. The price of things are not being regulated according to the movement of dollar,  if price of things are being regulated with the movement of dollar I don't think things will be this difficult.  In our country when price of things goes up instead of it to falls when dollar price drops it remains like that, with such attitude from our marketers I don't think we will be able to fight this economy challenge.
