Gambling(maisîr) is totally prohibited by Islamic law. But if you think of it, it is the kind of gambling all of us here on this forum speak out against. The kind of gambling when you want to get rich without working hard for the money, that is what considered a "grave sin" in the Quran. If you gamble just for fun and you know that today you can win and tomorrow you can lose, then it is no longer an activity "with no consideration for the possibility of loss", which is prohibited by Islamic law. You are just having fun, and having fun is not prohibited.

This is just my opinion. I'm not a mullah, nor am I a mufti.

What you think of as a flaw is an advantage to many people, and what better example than what happened during the pandemic, almost all over the world casinos were closed down and you did not really had the option to gamble at a physical casino anymore, so people decided to switch to online gambling as a way to satisfy their desire to gamble, and now many people are finding out they prefer to gamble online as it is way more practical and cheaper as well.

I work with a Muslim girl, and she is very nice, the only thing is that she is a girl who covers up a lot, her religion catches my attention, but honestly I already have mine well established, I don't like certain things like those that are more evident in terms of men having many wives, and Muslims are very intelligent people, and they have ideas that can change anything that can happen, they are proactive people, I ask him sometimes if they like gambling, and the bitcoin, all that, he tells me yes, and little by little I think he will give in so that he can interact there, that is not disrespecting his religion, having fun is not bad.

As far as we know gambling had been inculcated into the DNA of humanity, even before Islam or any religion is founded.  So it is normal to see people not following their religions and giving in to their "worldly desire"  such as gambling.



Honestly, I don't think that the lack of physical casinos devastates the country, it is the corruption of the government officials that devastate your country.

Their was history of Islamic people had involved in the gambling before the independence from the colonisation of many Islamic country.After the independence all over the world,the Islamic people made their own rule for their people.Then they fabricated the rules of Islamic against gambling.But the fact is,I had know many Muslim who had their involvement in gambling even now.I had not portrayed against Islamic,it’s just an argument for the gambling history .

Let's try to identify the two on a clear and straight forward point, online casinos is distinctly different from live or physical casinos, but what determines the choice being made by the gambler is his desirable taste on which to use, in most cases some gamblers are nit after pleasure and fun with casino houses, so they had prefer to gamble online with the comfort of their mobiles, some prefer the live casino houses because they are used to it right from the start and does not mind staying there all day long even when they are not placing bet.

I don't think the things you stated is a flaw of online gambling.  I believe those are the strength of online gambling reason why online gambling business is booming.  Being accessed easily anytime and anywhere is an advantage to attract players.  Aside from that due to different timezone, the 24/7 operation of online gambling gives them opportunity to cater and service anyone from the globe.

Online gambling has many flaws. For example, the gambler does not need to go to the casino. Gambling is available to him 24/7. Many gamblers are just too lazy to go to the casino if it is located far away. Online gambling is even in your phone.

I also didn't want to meet such a scammer because I've experienced that scam before.

Regardless, people seem to think debt is a way that can help them fulfill their desires, including when they borrow money to gamble. And yes, they may have gotten used to it before so that becomes an excuse to keep borrowing and gambling. But we also see many people defaulting on their loans and suffering from debt instead.

Unfortunately, this is especially true with regards to gambling. I love movies and I watch a lot of them, and I can say that in the past 15 years or so, movies have been great in showing and explaining some scientific and historical facts, but never in my entire life I saw a film where gambling experience was depicted realistically. It is always only partly true, and this part is normally very small.

Agreed, in the name of religion people were restricted from gambling. When our winnings/losses doesn't affect the living of our dependents it is Ok, but when things happen opposite way we need to think of it and take adequate measures to keep ourselves away from gambling. At this time we can follow the religious writings to keep ourselves out of gambling.

Interesting write up in the OP but don't you think gambling was translated differently depending on country/region/culture and games played were certainly different from what we believe these games came from...

I read the Wikipedia link about the history of gambling that you provided and the part that interests me is how religions such as Hinduism to Christianity struggle hard against gambling, in fact, what they are doing doesn't work because gambling has been a part or friend of the human journey since thousands of years ago.
In countries that still uphold religious norms, gambling is considered a dirty job and the cause of humans to be sinful. I myself am a religious person, but still gamble even though it's only on a small scale, I just think as long as I don't harm other people then what I'm doing is not wrong.

We have seen the long history of gambling and many people have gone into debt just to continue gambling. This causes many people to suffer because they cannot pay their debts and do not get any winnings from playing gambling. As long as they can maintain the goal of gambling just for fun, they won't have any problems but the history of gambling will continue because there is still a lot going on in the gambling business. Maybe some people can get big wins in gambling while others will get big losses.
