The name is not vacant, the name is still using by The Sceptical Chymist as the username and it is only the display name changed to the The Sceptical Chymist. The username is intact.

That's because you should search for "The Sceptical Chymist", not The Sceptical Chynist.
If you search for "The Sceptical Chymist" and click on the result, you will see that the message is sent to "The Pharmacist".

The Sceptical Chymist deserves congratulations. I never expected the request to change his username to take so long, given his reputation and the amount of effort he has put into the forum. I like his new name because of his personality in the forum; he always does things skeptically here, so even his new name. Well, congratulations to The Sceptical Chymist for the new name, I personally liked the previous one, but that is just my opinion.
I have the impression that the administration takes care of the name change requests rather slowly, I had assumed The Sceptical Chymist had already changed their mind on their name change request, after the time It took to get an answer.

I believe it would be productive to set a minimum-maximum waiting time to get an official reply from moderators on name change requests and ban appeals, not matter whether the request is accepted of denied.

Just my opinion.

I also recently noticed that one of our board local users had successfully changed their username. Theymos is probably being kind and granting some user requests, of course because the reason for changes may be perfectly acceptable.

Great after a long time finally the change has been made and was surprised to see the thread in Meta board otherwise it would have taken me more time time to realise that change has finally be implemented and our known @Pharmacist is now the one with username @The Sceptical Cymist so once again congratulations to you man and you deserve it.

Although it was not me, but I'm really happy to see @The Pharmacist can change his name become @The Sceptical Cymist after long time awaiting for theymos to realize that. Maybe someone that want to change his name should create proposal and wrote "Fuck you" to theymos, it might trigger him Tongue
