being new to all of this, can i get a little explanation what the concept of parity is?

I'm buying with two fists, but it may not be enough...
This parity thing is a joke to me, the ETC team have alot of work to do, no dapps, no strong core developer team, no commendable partnership and even funding since the money meant for development went to the ETH foundation and if is going to succeed it really need to differentiate itself from ETH offer something new to investors.
If you can convince the DAO hacker not to dump the ETC from the DAO hack, there is a chance for the price rise.
Keep taking the drugs.
So why parity?
Parity and going above that will be seen as a symbolic win for the original chain. Not only that, it will also attract more miners to mine the original Ethereum classic chain. It will make it secure and a more viable platform to build dapps on.
