Because though he is really a heavily controversial person, his name still has some weight in it for being the founder of the famous but crappy McAfee Antivirus. Especially in 2017, having his name on a certain project's team page gives the illusion that that certain project is legitimate/relevant. Fortunately, for all the stupid things he's said(especially the tweet in question), he's slowly but surely losing relevancy and reputation even in the cryptocurrency markets.

EDIT: So it seems like on the 2 projects he heavily shilled(Skycoin and Apollo) and whereas he's supposed to be a team member, apparently his name is no longer on the team pages. Freakin LOL. Shilling failed.

This dude has never got my attention he is always looking like a pendulum in every decision he makes. He says this today and says the exact opposite. i am sure it's just a shill to cause people to sell whiles he accumulates much into his holdings. A couple of weeks ago there've been already some articles and at least one thread on Bitcointalk about his change of heart. It was about another tweet where he says that his price prediction was a ruse or something (see here, for example). In that tweet, he already called Bitcoin 'ancient' and praised blockchain and smart contracts in opposition to it. Oh, and in this newer tweet, he's basically expressing the same crazy 'Altcoin superiority' idea. I think that this 'prediction' is just as crazy as BTC going to cost $1million by the end of the year, to be honest.

Funny how he and a few other people(a.k.a. Twitter XRP bots and ETH supremacists) call bitcoin "outdated" and "the hotmail of crypto"(from one of the Tweet's replies), but yet not one other cryptocurrency has come close to what Bitcoin is today and what it has achieved. I don't get how they could call something that people widely use "outdated", even though it doesn't even a better alternative. Not even close.
