This reminds me of penny-stocks before they issue a 10Q.

The founder comes on, making grand promises, assuring spooked investors that "all is well", and that the uptake of the shares is totally normal and an "organic" part of the lofty vision of the company.

Then, after the spike fails to materialize, and everyone is foaming at the mouth on the penny pumper forums, the 10Q gets filed/released and its exactly the disaster that everyone dreaded - and the price falls to a new low.

Please, continue, this drama-cane has been most satisfactory and I suspect will end up the same way after it runs out of funds.

I agree, this is the year of alt coins.  After 99% of them fail (not implying Mastercoin is one of them) by mid next year, new alt coin development will be either a corporate affair (Ethereum) or just outright scams promising the stars/moon, etc..

It's quite weird to see that how the MSC founder made millions by delivering an unfulfilled promise, while now he is happily looking to re-buy his stash at below IPO price = at a loss for the people that trusted his project.
'weird'?  Its not weird.  Buy low, sell high.  Everyone knows that.  JR is just a lot smarter than you.

Don't worry, next year you'll be complaining about how you weren't able to buy at .01 because mean ol' JR was hogging up all the MSC in his repurchase.  You don't think we've seen your type before?  Cry, cry, cry.

Just go by some cheap MSC, hold them, and STFU.  Stop crying.

Wow, some serious complaining going on here. Ignore it, JR.

The whole project is 1 year old, and a huge amount has been done. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing where Mastercoin is next year.

The potential of this business is so enormous that it must be the no.1 VC opportunity in the world. Any normal start-up would not be available for public investment at this stage. Luckily, MSC makes investment possible. Of course the road is rocky, but that is to be expected.

I guess everybody is expecting you to actually build something instead of speculating and increasing your stash below IPO price.

Pretty normal if you ask me considering people trusted you with their hard earned money.

a third-party project which has a block of MSC but needs cash to pay developers

This is what killed the price of MSC and caused every bit of talent to run for the hills.  Nobody wants to code here as you get paid in script worth nothing.  That should have been made against the rules.

At least it was only the speculators who got hurt.  If the project actually evolves to a platform which does something, the price will finally get back to where it would be previously.  Hopefully we'll see .25 in less than 12 months again.  I sure hope the developers have it in them to continue strongly.

JR, Great!

Now I can dump some coins on the exchange and buy them back through the group buy.

I think you would be disappointed if you tried Smiley

David Johnston,

Since Ron is no longer around to keep JR in control, can you please hire someone to keep the reins tight on JR? JR has no clue.

I hated selling in February, even though it raised enough money for me to quit my job. I was sure I would regret it. As it happens, I was wrong about regretting it, since I now have the opportunity to buy low.

I'm a little confused that people are criticizing me for buying MSC. It seems like the obvious thing to do, both for myself and the project. I understand that lots of money was lost (on paper) when the price fell (nobody lost more than I did), but I fully expect people who purchased even at the peak price to make a fantastic long-term profit. As they say on the bitcoin reddit: HODL!*

Speaking of my buying, for sake of transparency, I'll disclose here that I'm currently putting together a deal for myself and other MSC insiders to purchase a block of MSC from a third-party project which has a block of MSC but needs cash to pay developers (not Maidsafe - I asked them if they would sell some, but they are holding).

I did negotiate a discount off spot prices (by pointing out that selling on the exchanges would lower the price far more). If anybody here is interested in participating in group buys of this sort, you can PM me. I probably can't include you on this particular buy, but there could be more in the future if similar situations arise.

Thanks!

As part of our continuous improvement to omniwallet we are bringing a database layer to omni. This layer should make the wallet much more responsive. The addition of a database also makes integration with other apps easier.

One question that came up in a recent planning meeting was about wallet association. To make the creation of the database simple we did not plan on obscuring the obvious association between UUIDs and wallet addresses and encrypted keys. The current on the implementation contains Json files that live on disk. The files are named [uuid].json. The contents of these files are encrypted using the password you chose at sign-up. Meaning we don't have access to the contents of your wallet currently.

My question: Is it important to you as users of the Omniwallet that this association between bitcoin addresses be obscured. Or is it acceptable that a simple query using a UUID as the key would present a database return of all of the addresses associated with that UUID?

For me, the obscurity serves nothing.  Returning all addresses may even  help with some of the tasks I do.

Omni wallet is freaking awesome.  With a little effort, that thing can be a really great tool.  Anyone who ever made a transaction with MastercoinAdvisor loves Omni.

Keep up the good work.  In the end, Omni Wallet can be huge.  I hope you'll find the energy and resources to press on vigorously.

It looks awkward to me but you definitely made a nice killing, dacoinmaster. By the way, when we will see a real and useful application of Mastercoin, a true killer app?

I was using OmniWallet to do a simple send.  In the transaction list, it showed up as a 'sell offer'.  Opps.  That wasn't right.

Here is the transaction: 33d59dd64bb8332227924f50e48921f8b4d9279ed0eda4b424671fdef89184b1

I wonder, how mature is Omni?  Can we rely on it?  I wonder if there were any implications regarding that error 'sell order' I created.  Is anyone still working on Omniwallet?

The funny thing it, Omni wallet is pretty easy to use and looks good.  I don't know why MasterFoundation is pushing it out of the project.

How are things going?  Is anyone left in the community to give a toss?

Omniwallet is an ongoing project that is a high priority for the foundation. I'll make sure we take a look at the transaction. Can you email the transaction Id to [email protected].

Bitcoin is physical
As for celebrating a Bortday the Mastercoin, I expect more words from the Foundation. Who cares about the number of FB members.

Now some irrational emotion driven rants from an early investor (and PoW of a dumb user), if anyone cares:

1. Price is down.

2. Price is down like hell, closing pre-IPO. That hurts.

3. Price is down. I'm checking the blog: some nice activity and anouncements of Mastercore and Omniwallet for the first of August. Good, price creeps up just a tiny bit.

4. First of Aug. No announcement, really?

5. Second of Aug. Price is down, like pre-IPO. Of course, what do you expect. People start to ask, finally mastercore 0.0.6 (seems a bit of a way to go up, like two more years to reach 0.7?) But I'm just a dumb user, who knows what these developers are thinking). But wait, no Windows version? Really? The anouncement means nothing to me. Price is down.

6. Oh, Ron signs off. Good. Started to hate this guy. Nothing personal, it's just money lost. And lots of it. So I cannot force myself to believe he did something good for the Mastercoin, even if he tried - price is still down. Creeps up a bit after Rons resignation though.

7. Omniwallet looks quite good, changelog is moving up every day. But wait, it works only on Chrome, and I don't use it. Probably my fault, who knows those developers... And what does the "next milestone 0.16" mean anyway? Is it going to be usable finally? Can I finally tell my friend, a stock daytrader, who lost a fortune with MtGox, that he can finally store some mastercoins on his PC? Maybe he would buy some. Not yet?

8. Price is down. I check the Mastercoin dev forums. It used to be more activity a few months ago. Where is J.R. anyway? I hope his baby is alright. Besides that, should I also start to hate this guy too? He sold bunch of MSC in what seems to be a hurry, to get a full-time on the project. And to me the "full-time" somehow means some community noticeable activity every few days. Especially, especially, when things are down. An anouncement of "buying the MSC back", doesn't look that good with all this history, ask your marketing consultant. Some words on Mastercoin birthday would be nice. J.R, you were a pioneer starting all this 2.0 a year ago, push it up, people may like that.

9. I still check the bitcointalk Mastercoin thread mostly. To me, besides the trolls and a couple of dumbasses, it's the best health indicator on the project. And now I can't get rid of a feeling Foundation only starts to answer only when people ask for updates. Last month was so quiet everywhere. Is it because of summer?

10. Price is down. This is important. Because there are alternatives. And that's why the price is down. Admit that and contemplate on it. It was the soviets, who used to deny all the nasty things.

11. Besides all that, I still believe in the project. Could be because I like the people who started it. I even buy the optimism of the Foundation, though I sometimes hate these half-assed cheerful blog announcements.

Mastercoin does not need more exchanges as much as it needs blockchain 2.0 applications which can pilot at innovative businesses. Once people can see the potential of this tech in real-world implementations - then exchanges will be competing to list MSC.

The road-map doc is a big step in the right direction.

Unfortunately with sub $500 btc prices, and the current burn rate of funds, the foundation does not have enough funds to complete the latter goals in the road map.
