the solution , use bitcoin client if you don't have it download the link it on the write news at the top of this page, you don't need to wait to download the blockchain to read the address in your file dat
but you need to maintain backup of them when you put the file walet .dat
then see on what address are they and extract the private key go to debug->console
in the bitcoin wallet ,
type the command :
dumpprivkey "youraddress"
now import the key in omniwallet.org ,remember to sign up and save the link of yuor wallet
and password !

and yes if you completed the passages you are now rich.

well you could even import any file dat directly on https://www.omniwallet.org/ anyway

all of this Requires unlocked wallet

Hi dexX7,
thanks for response.
I'm quite sure, that I moved my BTCs to a new wallet, after I got them back from Maid-something.
But I kept most of my old *.dat files. Do I have to open every of them, and check them with your link?

cheers

I need help.   REWARD  !

In my early days of cryptos, I accepted an offer from (MSC?) to put some bitcoin on an "MaidsafeCoin" address. The idea was, as far as I remember, that I should get back my bitcoins and some "MSC" or whatever coins...

Does anyone here know what I'm talking about?
Somewhere I should have a good bunch of coins which I never touched.

If you can help me getting them, you will be rewarded.

(..last time I got help at bitcointalk, to fix a bitcoin wallet, I payed 300.-$ to the guy, as promised)

Hi there,

do you remember which address you used? If so, check out http://omnichest.info/ and submit the address to see, whether it has a balance.

I definitely never said anything like that, or turned anybody away who genuinely wanted to help out. The only person I turned away was this one random stranger who approached the foundation asking for a huge lump payment to develop the reference client for us. We actually briefly considered it, since he seemed possibly legitimate, but decided if it was too big a gamble. That guy went on to fork our project and create Counterparty. With the benefit of hindsight, I might choose differently if I did it over again, but with the information available at that time, it was the right decision not to hand over roughly half of our cash on hand (if I recall correctly) to a random guy approaching us on the internet.

Oh, and there was this other really smart guy, not so random, who we asked to look at our protocol and make some suggestions. He came back with this really complicated scheme for turing complete money. I told him we needed to finish our core features before tackling something that ambitious. He took the idea and ran with it to become Ethereum.

Wow, that really explains a lot about Counterparty and Ethereum's origins...

It seems that all those projects are kind of mastercoin's spiritual successors.

Maybe even Bitshares and NXT are linked to Mastercoin in some way...

Ross explains what went wrong with mastercoin:
http://ripper234.com/p/so-whats-up/

Ron and JR made a lot of huge mistakes, none of which are mentioned in Ron's pitiful blog post.

Oh poor Ron, he has a mental disorder, it excuses everything.
Ron doesn't seek any excuse.  He merely sets forth some things that occurred in his life.  He doesn't need any understanding from you.

The poor guy openly admits he fucked up every startup he tried, that he junked up his marriage, and he wants to kill himself sometimes.  Give him a break.  I didn't like the guy, but I sure don't feel a need to beat him down after that grand admission.

Mastercoin was 100% fucked long before Ron arrived on the scene.  'Open source' is a disaster.  The same disorganization now exists with bitcoin re block size.  With no CEO to choose a path, no path will be taken.  Satoshi's dream that miners would 'vote' to reach a concensus - is just not a workable scheme.  So, we have a fork and real threat to the whole thing.  Decentralization is a bit tricky.  Ron didn't cause this.

When Mastercoin paid Micheal Terpin's PR company $6K/mo for three months, it was quite clear the project would burn up everything before doing anything.  Terpin claims to have placed one story (in Forbes - not even the real Forbes, but a website which borrows the Forbes name).  That kind of waste consumed all Mastercoin funds before they could get a legit platform running.

Ironically, they are pretty close today to having an interesting system.

The new http://omnichest.info is looking good.
Wow!  That does look good.  Very, very nice.  Could it be that Omni has a good future?

someone interested in a microsoft partnership ?

BAAS
newest services released by Azure is called “Blockchain as a
Service”. This will allow users to simply build cloud-computed
Blockchain applications. Prior to the partnership between Microsoft
and Coin, Azure had to first announce the partnership with
ConsenSys to develop the “Blockchain as a Service” developer

Rational Exuberance
There were multiple people/teams that were turned away from creating a bitcoind implementation during the first few months. The reason was, JR insisted that "he alone would create the reference client". Not sure why JR never did any programming. It would only be speculation that he is incapable, or maybe was too busy popping champagne.

I'm a crypto newbie and discovered mastercoin recently, and learnt that it was the first crypto 2.0 project, and raised a ton of funds. What happened? why is mastercoin doing so poorly compared to the competition? I don't mean to sound rude, just genuinely interested in piecing together what happened. I appreciate people are probably still working to make mastercoin a success in the future, but something must have gone wrong somewhere in the early days to lose first mover advantage and all the ico funds.

A classic story of hubris really. Would you believe that the counterparty folks once offered to actually help build mastercoin? Yep. It was almost once one cohesive project of Bitcoin 2.0 tech. Now it's nothing really, and the division that was sowed in the community lead the real corporations to simply build their own projects rather than collaborate with the bickering "communities" down here below.

So yeah. Great idea, but ideas are not enough.

Anyone have reference to this story here?
