If there is prior notice I think it is acceptable, but the time to open the page is not fixed, is the reward really enough?

I’m really interested if this is a viable option for adult video websites as a supplement or alternative to ads https://tubeace.com/will-mining-cryptocurrency-porn-tube-sites-way-future/

I think its ok as long as they openly advise users that they are doing it, and even better giver the user the option to switch it off.

Cheesy True.   Would rather see them do that than show adds or popups.
Well no ! At least tell the visitors what they're doing and let them have the option to like toogle it on and off.
Exploiting and using people's cpus isn't acceptable under any measures.

Can someone explain how this goes ? How is a website able to use someone's cpu that easy ? How can they use the browser to get more cpu usage ? It just doesn't get through my mind.

AND if they were able to do it, I'm sure hundreds if not thousands of websites will be able too in the coming days. There must be a solution to this. I'd really love to get a technical reply to how they did it.

I dont think they would receive any positive feedback from taking advantage from us in such cheeky way

Honesty is still the best policy, if they told their users that they are testing it in the first , their users will understand it because they are also a big help to their users, or they can hold a poll if their users will allow them to use coin hive to monetize their website

I don't know what happened, but accroding to the above, it seems to be an invasion of personal privacy, i can understand why they did this, but i wish this will never happen to me, , what will they do next for other reason?

HODLing is an art, not just a word...
as far as i understood from the real news, it was not exactly stealing anything. it was an option or more of a test to see if they can replace their advertisements (which are intrusive too) with this in order to be able to cover the costs of server,... and earn some money.
apparently the donation method doesn't work for them. and with the closure of nearly every other torrent website PB remains the only one standing with a huge traffic.

I am not a tech by background and not very tech savvy. But after reading about this information I have become scared and will be more cautious in the future when accessing sensitive information from my laptop from where I trade or use personal information. THis is not good. I guess time to start buying originals again has come!

They should have informed their users. What they did is huge and probably illegal!

I wonder what will happen this time with pirate-bay.

Going stealthy
Stealing CPU power is OK with me, I hate it when site injecting spyware and adware. Expecting to give something back from a site like this.

What can we say, Pirates always be Pirates.
Everybody tryes to earn money how he can.

Cheesy True.   Would rather see them do that than show adds or popups.

I also love pirate bay when download torrent, I think it is there way to keep there website running because some torrent site are down and the team are hunting down by the NBI! for me I think it is fair enough when try downloading there file and they also used your cpu to mine momero!
Just try to install anti-malware in order to make your pc free from them!.. Wink

Apparently, the idea is catching on.  I noticed today that a fairly popular faucet, MoonbitCoin, now has an option to allow website users to contribute their CPU power to their mining efforts for a bonus on their faucet payout.  But they are upfront about it, giving the user the option to turn it on/off, so that's fine with me.... a good way to handle it.

nice! been seeding some files particularly some ISO files and yet they were that cheeky. i wonder how much they got from it after 24 hours. or was it true that its just up for 24 hours. probably not earning much this time but weren't the money they got of all the ads popping every time people click a page?
