In some places name does matter and in some cases it doesn't matter,it depends on how people trust or get attracted by the name,here in the case of bitcoin ,even though the name is not very appealing to a large crowd ,its features ,its potential ,its capability is one of the reasons for bitcoin being #1.

The fact that bitcoin is the main and number 1 because bitcoin is the first bitcoin made and use by many people not other altcoin online that honestly the script are from bitcoin and they are just added new features that is why there are some people are interested with other coin.. or they are use altcoin for trading purposes..
But bitcoin will be still remain as number 1 due to many company and site are accepting it than the other coin..

You can't use a name to judge the success of anything or anyone. Sure, name attracts in some cases for example, in entertainment, no matter how stupid a name is, once you are good, your name becomes a trade name heard in everyone's mouth.
Bitcoin started the cryptocurrency world and that alone gave bitcoin an edge over other altcoins as the king of the jungle. The value is already high and other alts are just managing to drag along. Just know that either way, anything can happen tomorrow and we can see an altcoin forging ahead regardless of the name if it decided to do what bitcoin couldn't and people decided to accept it more than bitcoin.
