To enter the crypto world, of course, we need sufficient knowledge so that we can decide what to do and what to avoid. that's why we join in this forum. in addition to increasing knowledge, this forum also provides some information about bounties where it will be very useful for bounty hunters to get paid or money. so if we can study this forum and use it well then it will be profitable. sharing opinions with each other makes our minds more open, that's why this forum is very helpful because it consists of many members with different experiences and knowledge. in other words we can learn from various perceptions, it's just a matter of how we sort out good information or not good.

I come because of these things...
 1. Curiosity
 2. Learning some ideas
 3. Earning money

However, the most interesting part about crypto is how to earn money from here which obviously the most reason why people are coming. of course, it wasn't just designed for such a thing but aside from making some money here, it also imparts useful ideas which it was very beneficial to all of us.

Most people would be for the number 3 but the problem is they don't know how but I think most people who came here was just lured by someone to post something just for the sake of bounty hunting. And it does create a mess once they spam all over the place with one to two lines of post. It is rare to see someone stumbled upon on this forum just out of curiosity why they created an account and the others just wanted to read or report/complain/ask that they have been scammed by someone.

Some more numbers of people join bitcointalk forum for one or two reasons, to gain knowledge or for both the money and the knowledge. The zeal to make money has made many to learn more about bitcoin even if their main motive of joining the bitcointalk forum is to just make money to earn a living. They need to go on research and learn more about bitcoin in order to make qualitative and informative post to gain more merit in order to rank up and get higher pay in signatures they’re participating it. In other words, the knowledge gained can be shared with new members who come to the forum to ask about a particular thing they’re not so sure of.
Either way, the motive of joining the forum has made many to still achieve the primary aim of why the group is created. To learn about the basics of bitcoin and how the market works plus mining.

It seems gonna true about that and yes nowadays compared to the old days here in the bitcointalk forum is very far as it was in the past years people will join here in the forum to gain knowledge about bitcoins but now some people join here in the forum to gain money and start spamming all along.
But not all because some users will grow fast because of their hard work and dedication.
Knowledge and before earning is the best way to this forum.

BTC, a coin of today and tomorrow.
If it is to acquire bitcoin knowledge that makes people to join this forum, the population of this forum wouldn't have increased to the level it is now. Again, there also might be decrease in population at some points.
Take for instance;
If I join this forum to learn how to incrypt wallet, immediately I learnt that, I will exit the forum because I have achieved the purpose for which I am here.
Generally, the altcoins section for people looking for new projects, pump and dump etc is why people are here.
Also the bounty section for promoting projects
And the signature campaign.
These are some of the things that makes people join bitcointalk.

Some more numbers of people join bitcointalk forum for one or two reasons, to gain knowledge or for both the money and the knowledge. The zeal to make money

As said, many will join only for money not for "money and knowledge", not realizing that without knowledge they'll mostly hunt for empty promises, wasting their time and earning nothing.

Even more, even the previous post has missed one more category: those hunting for money to be earned outside of the forum, spamming with links to various weak news sites or blogs, ref links to various platforms (most of them being scam).

Unfortunately the new ones seeking knowledge - with or without the added money - are fewer and fewer.
No one gets to learn and seek knowledge in crypto if there is no rewards waiting for it. Its by somehow a motivation for most of us. So we should be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills in crypto first before we start to invest and trade to make profits. But this is not happening for most of the newbies. They start to invest and trade first and when they start committing losses, that's when they decide to learn and study about crypto. And worst is, others decide to leave and quit crypto without considering to learn about crypto first.

Waaaay back when I first joined, my main reason was to ask questions, participate in discussions, and learn stuff. It has worked out pretty well because it did allow me to get a lot better in the end. It is not an easy task so I have to say it would take a while before you can feel relax about writing here.

There are days when I do not want to participate, and there are weeks where I can't stop participating, so it is not really a one stop deal but at the same time everything about crypto that I learned, I first saw here which is a great deal. This is a great situation to be in for any crypto enthusiast because it allows you be in the center of crypto world.

You have to look at it from the point of view of someone who has no skills, has no clue really about crypto,(other than moving tokens around) most likely comes from the country with low income and it's here solely for the purpose of making money. After all, bounty hunting is very low effort kind of "work" so why not, if you don't have any skills and you have some free time on your hands. And who knows, maybe they hit the mother lode, as they probably heard stories of some bounty hunters getting rich.

There are other far better things to do that doesn't require bachelor-levels of knowledge though; some only requires a decent amount of computer knowledge — probably like virtual assistants and customer support.

But I guess social media spamming is something that literally has almost zero barrier to entry compared to the things I've mentioned that requires people to apply for jobs. That's another topic, I guess.

I can't for the life of me understand how a lot of people still join Bitcointalk solely for "bounty hunting" a.k.a. spamming on social media despite the fact that it's pretty much a total waste of time now. I'd understand if it was in 2017 where every obvious crap token pumped, but today? Nah.

That's probably the reason why compared to 2017, there's definitely much fewer bounty hunters today. I am not so sure, but it appears so. The incentive factor itself is enough reason why the 2017 bounty hunters would stop doing their old thing now. However, we can understand why some are still interested. In the first place, bots are used. So there's not much effort required in terms of the menial social media jobs and the reporting requirement here. They can afford to risk and join a lot of campaigns and probably be happy if there's 2 or 3 projects that ended up paying tokens that are not worthless.

when the genuine thread discussion on trending topic and project declines due to signature campaign, unfortunately the campaign does not reward as earlier done because members dont participate in crowdfund as before.

Unfortunately, in recent years, many bounty hunters have joined only for money and not for knowledge. Sometimes, I wonder if all these bounty hunters are real people or just automated bots that fill out bounty reports? We have already uncovered a number of account farms, but I find it difficult to imagine that anyone would do all of this by hand when we know that the financial benefit is almost nonexistent.

Tell me, why is a beginner who is interested in knowledge, merits, and ranks? But we regularly see those who teach from the first day, create "useful" topics, and seek merit. These people very foolishly decipher themselves and pretend to be sincerely seeking knowledge at a time when their motives are far from learning.

I think most of them think Bitcointalk is a moneymaker with crypto. So far I have predated it, this is due to the doctrine of the members in new people. But so far I think there is a purely true seek knowledge regarding crypto. As far as I know this Forum, the development is very good, since the service system applies this forum looks more organized. So if they feel like being useful actually it doesn't matter, because indeed the forum educates them to be like that. After that there will certainly be bonuses from their efforts, (Signatures, bounty etc),I think it is a motive because the higher the rank and the quality of their posts is good then they will get that bonus.

The thing that surprises me is how those managers talk all those altcoin projects into having bounty campaign. I would really like to be on a call when they persuade them that it is a must have and that thousands of illiterate lemmings will make the project look attractive to potential investors.
Potential investors don't seem swayed by the thousands of spam promotions on social media for new altcoin as they actually have their own reasons to invest private sale or initial sale when they are convinced about the great potential of the project. Many of them get information about the initial sale on other platforms outside bitcointalk, not social media and usually it's like coinlist or something.

So I think we all know what the real purpose of bounty hunters in this forum is and that's generally for money. It would be nice if they also care about the quality of the posts and are willing to contribute to the forum rather than just wanting to make money, so that they can get a double benefit where their knowledge can also increase about bitcoin or crypto in general.

I've been wondering about the forum software / database size, though.
It's probably not that much. My inefficient collection of all kinds of data on loyce.club fills 250 GB now, with 17 million files. 211 GB of that is online. My posts archive fills 142 GB, and I know it would take up less disk space if I would use a database instead of millions of files.

Does the forum just have so many BTC in reserve that it doesn't matter?
With 1250BTC, I don't think a couple hundred GB server storage matters much. The Bitcoin blockchain is bigger.

Reason why people join Bitcointalk it's all about money and knowledge, in this life some people have money but  they don't know how to invest to make profit, joining bitcointalk give them knowledge of how to make profit with what they have. Well on the other hand some people join bitcointalk to make money and to start investment.

For real, people are advertising even on the T19 Multisig wallet. Roll Eyes
Theymos has been spared, though!

I was curious about why that would be, but no, he just moved the coins to a new one last year when that topic was edited, seems like the multisig participants have been changed too.
This is the old one:
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/19XTo6BHpPHSkW5cm183VrgEYpGjVJmQEt
same nonsense spam there too.

Wow, 1250BTC, still untouched. Makes me wonder how he pays for the infrastructure.

Ads probably, I know theymos banned ICO a while ago when they were offering huge amounts for ad space so judging by the sums he refused the current one sare still enough to keep the forum running and the mods paid.

Today, many have learned to recognize real beginners who are interested in bitcoin, and they came to the forum to replenish their knowledge, or as beginners seeking money.
And the second point, we are sincerely surprised when people appear on the forum who hear for the first time that here you can not only communicate on topics about cryptocurrencies but also earn something. Here they can really become valuable for the forum.

Cough cough, million-dollar forum software to be released, 1250 BTC in forum funds still untouched, server costs won't be a problem for a while.  Wink
