Don't support account farming with ideas like this...
All the farmers should do to register 100,000 accounts and wait for 1 year to become jr. member, without any effort...
That's nonsense...

...but yes there is another way to get merit, ask anyone who has a lot beg for it maybe they can give you some
That is not good advice and OP should not do that. He will not get merits by begging merit sources and might end up with a negative rating instead with a red text box saying 'Merit beggar'.

I agree with you.
Much better approach is to prepare and write good quality posts, content that can help other users.
If you try your best others will recognized it and reward your posts with merits.
Also, there are a few threads on the forum where you can report your good quality posts.

There is no faster way to be put on "ignore" by many merit sources and other senior members and make it a hundred times harder for yourself to ever receive merit than by publicly or privately begging for it.

You don't even have to be particularly knowledgeable to earn merit: It's usually pretty obvious which newbies are here with a genuine interest to learn about bitcoin, and which are here for the sole reason of monetizing their account.

Check your spelling, and try to use words that are apposite. "tread" is the depth of the grip surface on a tyre ( amongst other things ), "thread" is a string of posts discussing a topic on a forum board.

I think all of the points here are valid that if you are here a year and make one post a day and still don't have one merit than you aren't contributing. But if you have over 100 merit, maybe you could get 10 merit on your anniversary.

Why dont you try in your local language forum? What is your mother tongue?
Local forums have merit sources so if you cant contribute properly in the English sections try to write some decent posts in your local forum and hope that they will get recognized and awarded there.

~

Here is few points

1- There is no Solution for getting merit without quality post.
2- It's makes me laugh when you suggeste merit should be based on account age. If user not able to received single merit in 1 or 2 years then he or she doesn't deserve to be here on the forum.

The invention of Merit system is for increasing quality post and make this forum clean from shitpost. Here is few points you should consider for getting merits besides all your nonsense ideas about getting merit :- :-

1- Spend your time on reading
2- Gain your knowledge about forum rules
3- Gain your knowledge about Bitcoin and its technology
4- Improve your english
5- If you don't know where to post then try it from your local board
6- Be constructive post and help other.
7- Avoid bounty campaign untill you achieve member or full member rank
8- Think before post. Your post should be useful for other person.
9- Get inspiration from those members who achieve their rank and shared their inspirational journey with Bitcointalk.
10- Don't think about merit so much. Concentrate about improving yourself.

Thanks you . . . Your post is good . I hope can be like you some day .

You seriously are choosing to wait 1 to 2 years on earning 1 merit to be a jr. member rather than earning it for posting one good post? With that kind of thinking you'll really have to wait that long before some random guy gives you one. Earning your first merit isn't really that hard you need to adjust and learn and not the forum be the one to adjust for you.

is there another solution to getting merit for a newbie besides making a good tread that can make someone give merit to a newbie. maybe from the account age, maybe at least 1 or 2 years to be able to get at least 1 merit. can the forum team consider. thank you. just my opinion

The only way to earn merit as a NEWBIE is to have some usefull stuff to say or to have some real good OT questions that show some serious interest, its a kind of task for people that send out merit to spot those newbies that are only interested to wear sig campaigns and just spam the place.

Have some stuff to say with good content, get in some discussions over the place, contribute where you can and you will be noticed and you will earn merit, just realize its not something to gain easy and especially not as a newbie, the merit system is been introduced to get rid of some problems and solve some serious spammers that are only here with no right intentions...

I think that this post would be nice to become a sticky thread in "Beginners & Help", since too many newbies are asking about it.
You'll have to agree with me that quite a substantial number ask just for the sake of it, and talking about stickies, there's one over there on the beginners board: "newbies read before posting", if they actually did, they wouldn't be asking afterall.

Even if one is giving let's say the said 1 merit every anniversary, that'll mean taking 10 years to get to member rank, 100 years to full member, 250 years to snr member, 500 years to hero member and a thousand to legendary. It actually shouldn't be this difficult. Grin

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
1 merit every year on your anniversary really wouldn't hurt the system. It would make all newbi accounts jr member after a year. I don't see what the big deal about that is. Do we have any campaigns that take jr members?
Plenty of them do, since what is sought by campaigns are profiles that have the capability of bearing a signature (posting quality is not a feature for the most), and giving an extra merit for some event such as an anniversary would enable all profiles to bear one (+ post images).

We could play the scenario the other way round: -1 merits every anniversary. That wouldn’t be too popular, but it would constitute an anti-spam measure (not being original here).

There are plenty of altcoin and ICO/IEO/STO/whatever campaigns which will enrol Junior Members, with absolutely zero oversight or quality control to stop them from them spamming to high heaven.

The entire point of the merit system was to stop people from ranking up automatically, so ranking everyone up automatically after 1 year kind of defeats the point. Also, if someone has gone a full year on the forum without earning a single merit, they are exactly the type of person we don't want to rank up and then be able to join a campaign.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)

Even if you make a good thread you may not get any merit because no merit source wanted to. LOL

There is no such "team" here. Forum administration/moderation and merit sources are two different but at times overlapping groups with no specific boundaries.

But if you are someone who knows how to write legible posts and takes part in discussions then you should not whine about not being merited. After all this is a forum and spreading knowledge is the primary intent here, getting ranked up is secondary. Wink

Also when you say a blocked account, do you mean a banned account?

what about the blocked account whether it will be easy to appeal because my experience was never a reply from the email listed on a blocked account. even though we really feel we didn't make mistakes. it's just that the problem is an appeal that is difficult to get an answer

And if it is a permaban, then you're violating forum rules by making posts on the forum aside from on an appeal thread. A ban is on the user and not the account.

If I am not mistaken, the very first I got aside from the airdropped merits was actually given as an "anniversary merit"
Someone was kind enough to give it to me.

I guess this should be a case to case basis. If a user only post bounty reports for one whole year, then I think he/she shouldn't be given any.

Do we have any campaigns that take jr members?
If you mean signature, then yes there are still some.

Merits define whether or not one can wear a signature, and hence determines bounty participation. A forum member should be able to earn at least one to ensure that they don't spam around the forum to fulfill their tasks.

Even if an anniversary merit giveaway was implemented, log in time would likely be used to ensure you are actually participating and trying to learn and not just farming accounts over a 365 day period.
