Also, if you know it's going to be more then a day or 2 you should mention how long between someone wins & pays and you are going to ship.
Just had a issue where they only ship on Monday and I won something on Tuesday and it was a week before they dropped it in the mail.

Most of the unspoken rules are unspoken because they are logical and assumed. When a new user makes a mistake, said mistake is pointed out and the noob learns and moves on.
Not sure if such a thread is needed, but even if it was, I sincerely question OP’s suitability for compiling such a list.

The type of person that is going to overlook and unspoken, assumed - "common sense" rule is almost certainly not that type of person that is grazing the forums for their daily dose of etiquette. I'm just not sure how many people that would make these mistakes are going to read this thread before actually making the mistake.

This list might be more fun if it was self-deprecating and quoted/linked all of the times you've found yourself making these mistakes. Cheesy

Please add that TMAN excludes kill you from all of my sales moving forwards for being a prized dickhead.

We had such a great PM back and forth after you posted this,

Ill throw it in the OP.

Here is another rule to add to your list:
Collectibles (child board of Goods) - Trades of physical collectible items ("Including physical Bitcoin coins" as the board's subtext states). If you are selling these collectibles on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Ill throw that one in the OP too. Thank you for the source.

And I was nothing but polite in the auction thread, it was you, tman, and LC that jumped down my throat telling me that I was wrong, when infact I was right.

WOW I WAS RIGHT. and yet I will get noooo apology from anyone

Goodjob lil guy, but what we are seeing now is Moderators stepping into the Collectibles board and apparently enforcing these rules that aren't even that relevant. The community wasn't up in arms about this, one loud member brought it up (you) and rather than speak to eachother like a community and figure out if coblee were willing to accept BTC aswell as LTC (he would) we had to have a moderator step in and give a warning?

Wait until this rule isn't followed in the future and an auction/raffle/sale with bids on it is removed due to moderation.

We basically self-governed and spoke to eachother when things seemed off about somebody's Auction/Raffle/Sales terms and it worked. The SJW nation rises.

I saw a user post this in another thread:

Excuse me coblee, but I was curious if the rules of this section have changed, because I was under the impression that auctions in this section have to be in BTC. I see some people get around this by taking bids in an alt currency and than accepting the equivalent in BTC when the auction ends.
I don't see anything to address this in the list of unofficial official rules in the OP. Does OP ever get updated or did the author just post it for merit/sig spam? I can see how this user quoted above might be confused if they read the list in OP and do not see anything included about this type of rule.

Looks like the confused user is also posting in Meta:

Since when can auctions in the collectibles not be done in btc? Because I can remember trying to host an auction there with bidding not being done in BTC and I was told by multiple people I couldn't do that. But now I look at auctions in the collectibles section and I see a ton that aren't in btc.

So can I get some clarification of when this rule changed?
If this was such a wide spread rule I wonder why he never included it in his OP. It seems the confused user and the author of the unofficial official rules list are the same person.. weird. Is he purposely not updating the list of unofficial rules and keeping it vague so he can get more posts for his signature campaign? Merit? Why is he posting in Meta and not this very thread that he started for this specific purpose. My mind is blown, some kind of special.

Jeez you have such a big problem with me just gotta follow me around right

I posted it in meta, because questions about the fourm rules belong in meta.

I am not a saint, I cannot remember every little rule there is on here, especially ones that don't come up so often.

Usually Altcoin related sales should be done in the Altcoin section's (like Marketplace). Regular sections are meant for just Bitcoin. However, this rule was never really strictly enforced from what I remember. I've removed people accepting only USD in Digital Goods, since well, this is Bitcointalk, not USDTalk. With collectible Altcoin items I feel like it's even more iffy, since you wouldn't want to break up the (already small) collectible section.

I always assumed that accepting an Altcoin is fine, as long as you are open for payment in Bitcoin as well.

I'm happy to accept BTC also. Just figured it was easier to price in LTC and accept LTC. If there is such a rule about only accept BTC, that's fine. Just let me know.

Please edit your OP to include this piece of information. BTC must be one of the accepted methods of payment, otherwise the topic belongs in the relevant altcoin board.

To others: feel free to report topics in this section if OP doesn't accept BTC.

coblee recently posted he also accepts BTC and I told him to include that info in the OP, next time feel free to report similar topics.

Yes, that has always been the case (since altcoins were first used on bitcointalk).

Are you telling me this bid is valid? It's a brand new account with only 3 posts and the only thing they have done is bid on your auctions

This guy followed your unofficial rules and you chose to attack him instead of speak with him or refer him to this thread. What does a newbie member/bidder need to do to stop this? How can you create a thread of a compilation of unofficial rules like this and then shit all over someone that followed them one day later?

Also sometimes to do a bid with some colour like .025 BTC... I hope nothing wrong with that, we have to keep our self amused or am I wrong ?
Of course !  Cheesy  Keeps the good mood going.

Most people also add a rule what will happen with forum downtime. Could also added to the OP.

I love the big BTC so long as it's not obnoxious big.  If people get bent over font size for a BTC they need to lighten up a bit.  Cheesy

BTC + Crossfit, living life.
Most of the unspoken rules are unspoken because they are logical and assumed. When a new user makes a mistake, said mistake is pointed out and the noob learns and moves on.
Not sure if such a thread is needed, but even if it was, I sincerely question OP’s suitability for compiling such a list.

He is the most suitable as he has had every fucking thing told to him 25 times, he is just so mental it took 5 years to sink in.

I have to say, I was relative new in collectibles and dealing on terms that were mainly written by the OP's, though I never had any problem and just think that many things are just obvious for when you trade or buy something, sometimes people just have act as a grown up and don't have every single thing written down in text.

The only main thing that one has to know is, when you buy something look to the reputation of the member you're dealing with and when you doubt him then use escrow and nobody can get hurt....

But for myself I not a child and deal a lot with people IRL to, unspoken rules are just known and to be respected as they are just logical and benefit all the dealing party's ....

I never saw Raffle in my life and stuff so I just viewed a few threads and OK now we understand how it works, I have PM'ed a lot with some collectible members, always have been helped out very well on all my needs so, for me its very good how this whole collectible section is going as it is.

Again all those I have handled with THX for the services I have enjoyed t'ill now, and I hope to deal with many more in the section.

"always offer escrow and dont be offended if someone asks to use escrow"

and also, you have to mutually agree upon one.. you can't force someone to use a certain escrow/person.

Everyone just use MJ and we call it a night.

MinerJones is great, but there’s other great Escrows- Krogothmanhatten, Yogg, Hhampuz, OG, and prob others I’m forgetting.

Agreed that is a good point.  As long as both buyer/seller comfy then all good.

When posting in offering threads you should:
Avoid to troll and sig-spam like user killyou72 by posting garbage and repeatedly harassing the thread opener by making offers when the thread opener does not want to deal with you, because he does not deem you trustworthy.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.45581187
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50859640

You should also avoid posting garbage items for months and years on end, continuously bumping threads for items that are not only off topic but also something no one wants that simply just clog up a board.
