With the current price its truly  golden year for those who will take advantage of todays price. im pretty sure everyone is waiting for a lower price to buy and hold for a better profit.

Everything in this world have a chance to be a golden year in any aspects of business, Like in bitcoin, I do believe there can be a golden year for us especially to all bitcoin enthusiast to reach 1500 or more before end of this year. Because I do believe too that bitcoin has full of surprises like what happen before end of 2016. Cheers!

if so , then 2017 should be the year of cryptocurrency, not the year of bitcoin only.
even though recently bitcoin price have reached to the lowest since last month ago.
there is interesting move on most altcoins, all get increased, it seems altcoin ready to show up its potential.

The golden year did not start well... price dropped from $1200 to $700. But I am sure more and more services and businesses will be with bitcoin and more and more people will use bitcoin. So in long run, bitcoin is up for sure.

The start was much amazing especially the first few days of 2017 and the amazing thing is continued. I believe that in this whole year bitcoin will spread almost all of the world and the price of it will increase much high.

I will say the same how this year started think we will all enjoy in this year for good.
Also think that this year we will see btc price goes higher then in 2013 we might see this even this month.

Good start of the year and I say yes, I am positive we can be more successful this year compared to the past years of bitcoin. I even think that we can surpass what has been the greatest achievement in the past. Most if not all of us are longing to see another milestone of success and with the present price of bitcoin, it's possible we can crossed $2,000 by the end of the year.

This block size issue has the ability to change bitcoin into a store of value rather than a currency. To even come close to the volumes of visa or mastercard you are looking at blocks of like 500MB in size or more. Not happening. Rules out unlimited blocks.

Purists wanting to keep block size at 1MB and saying anything else is an altcoin, if this is followed BTC WILL NOT become a currency used at such volumes. It simply does not have enough capacity. No amount of burying head in the sand will do it. People won't want millions of transactions filling mempools which would also increase the difficulty of running a full node too to boot and waiting ages to confirm. The high TX fees due to limited block space has already pushed me and many of my clients to Litecoin for payments as the TX fees may not be high to a westerner but they are high for an Asian.

Segwit is the best solution, but unless a consensus is formed, I think there is a chance that if Litecoin adopts it first, then BTC will be the store of value and Litecoin would be the small daily payments for everything. I never expected to switch to an Altcoin for daily payments, but this block size issue forced my hand. This is why I see Litecoin as a true companion* to Bitcoin. I trust in both currencies.

So we stand at thus:

1. Unlimited Blocks - Introduces problems that if userbase increased, we face having to propagate large blocks and storing them of stupid sizes.
2. One time increase - Band-Aid solution to wide adoption as a currency, may make it smoother as a store of value.
3. 1MB Blocks - Never can become a mainstream currency, store of value only in long term.
4. Segwit - Scaling problem fixed, Lightning network or similar, soft fork, more block space

I hate to say it, but this is the reality of it. It is trending towards option 3, and unless we implement option 4 BTC will never become a mainstream currency everyone uses for everything unless some solution to the block size issue is there.

I use Litecoin for most payments and Bitcoin as a savings store, for the above reasons. So where do we go from here? No judgement of course, if BTC becomes a store of value, that's what it becomes. The technology underlying it can be used as a currency. I am not a Litecoin 'bagholder' saying this either. I own 800+ LTC all acquired in the past year.

Litecoin will deploy segwit first it seems, and as a business owner, I will not wait for Bitcoin to follow in it's shoes, my friends and clients I am all teaching about the benefits Litecoin offers over Bitcoin for general payments. I have been waiting a while and watched the endless debate in the mean time me and my clients have been observing fee increases.

So many poo-poo it as well, and I have even been accused of trying to pump it. Even at the price peak of BTC and LTC I sold none of them, although I have sold my mining rigs because I prefer writing and running my business to get coins although I may invest in the Bitmain LTC hardware when difficulty stabilizes. Using my BTC debit card where I can pay in LTC directly now I am happy with that too.

Bitcoin and Litecoin both have their places, both are good, but this debate needs to decide what everyone wants for Bitcoin. For it to stay where it is, as a speculation tool, as a mainstream currency (requiring change, and not be stuck in 2009, just as bad as moaning about people 'stuck' in the 1970s), or a store of value like gold which cant be controlled by banks so much.

There is no judgement of course, whatever it becomes will be come, the people will decide with the consensus rule. But as an adopter of Bitcoin for Business, I will say as a small business owner that pays my rent and bills nicely I have made the switch to Litecoin for my daily transactions over the internet with all but two clients, because as a small business owner Litecoin deploying segwit and able to handle greater transaction volumes makes it more suited as the currency I use to conduct business than Bitcoin which is more like digital gold.

Based on my thought as the 2017 started the price of bit coin is 1000 USD this might be the golden year of bit coin I guess, but we wait until it happen.

I think that BTC will change our lives for the better. Also I can see that 2017 may be a new 2013, but you have to wait until we see that will happen.

The year 2017  to everyone we are all prophesying or I say we are all wishing but to me I will say nothing will happen ad 2017 will just be like evey other year if steps are not taken towards the direction we all wanted. A lot of predictions I have read concerning Bitcoin but I will say it will not just happen by mere wishes until those that matter to effect such change makes moves until then we only wishing...

The more fiat moving in the bitcoin economy the better, even if that money comes from speculation because at some point some of that money is going to stay in the bitcoin economy even if the intention was to just try to earn money in speculation.

Yeah, same as 2016, lots of events might happen this year. We started with the price drop and then it starts to crawl and reach this price right now. If we believe that bitcoin should be alive in 2018 and  in the future, we should not be drinking coffee, watching the price chart too much or do a panic selling just because we read a bad news, we see others selling. 

This year might be a deja vu of 2016 and not the older years.

I think that 2018 will be a golden year Bitcoin

The start of 2017 for bitcoin is really crazy. Bitcoin has given an amazing surprise to all of its users. After a start like that it is sure that this year will bring much more happiness to us and bitcoin will flourish in this year.

This circumstantial increase in the price of bitcoin does not seem a sufficient argument for me to declare that 2017 will be a "golden year" for bitcoin. Maybe this will be a great year for big speculators who continue to manipulate the price at will, but for the bitcoin ecosystem this does not seem a good news.

In the begining 2017 bitcoin show their great potential and i really happy. I hope altcoin will follow bitcoin in trend and price

to me i think yes there is no doubt about this. as we can see such a big increasing in the price of bitcoin in a very very short period of time. the trend of bitcoin increase is still continued,

Bitcoin price will be still very high but it is not possible to maintain that price for much longer at some point the rally needs to slow down a little bit and then we will see people selling in order to secure a profit but I think this 2017 is going to be a very good year for bitcoin and we will reach the highest price ever for bitcoin.

after starting the 2017 there is a big big big fluctuation in the price of bitcoin, before 4 hours it was trading in 1145 USD and now it comes down to 830 USD and now again it is trading above 950. what is going here to the price of bitcoin?
