Not all the cryptocurrencies are worth investing. Some are there to increase the number of cryptocurrencies and some are there to scam people so when you want to invest you to look well before investing. Just like a popular saying that, "look before you leap". And cryptocurrency investment is not for short term because short term investment will not benefit you instead you might be a loser of the investment but whereby you hodle the coins for a long term and in the bull market/season you can sell and make benefits.

And also don't invest on a project that is not progressing. A cryptocurrency that has live a long year on the ecosystem yet it has not hit $1 is not a progressive project and it is liable to fall down because the renewal of the domain will expired and the founder will not renew it again since there is no progress, and it will be an abandoned project. So invest wisely.

Having a price over $1 is the measurement for a project to be progressive. A crypto coins price is heavily influenced by various factors like its token supply, circulating supply, number of active wallets, 24-hour trading volume and some other aspects. HBAR has a supply of 50B and its circulating supply is less than 35B so it needs to have at least 35B of market capital to hit 1$. Can we say this is a failed project? I don't think so as they have a large community and have been actively developing their project until now. This is not the only project that is very active in terms of development but their token price is sucking due to bad tokenomics. Token price has nothing to do with its development.

Investment strategy one implement be it short-term or long-term is channeled for profit maximization. Cryptocurrency on it's own is a solid long-term investment, one which is volatile and unpredictable, which is also a speculative investment. I will say it have outperformed most asset classes in recent years; including stocks, bond, gold, and real estate. Cryptocurrency is the tomorrow of today.
Cryptocurrency is no doubt a very good investment plan especially when it's held in the long term, but it's volatility and unpredictability could be the risk that comes with investing in cryptocurrency. Real estate has in recent time been a great investment plan too aswell Wich when compared with cryptocurrency could be regarded as solid too.

In the long term real estate also becomes very profitable just like cryptocurrency does in the long term too.

What might be considered "zeal" by some, could be considered foolishness by others if you are investing into something that is way too risky. I mean it's obvious that we are talking about a situation that has to be a little bit different, and we need to arrange something that needs to be better than what it is today. I get that it is not that easy, and I get that we are talking about a situation that has to be a little bit difficult and different, but we are still talking about a deal where it is going to be quite tough to handle.

I believe that we are going to end up seeing a bit of an issue, but that doesn't mean that it has to be all that quick and simple, we could probably end up with something that could change all the trouble later on. So, what we need to focus is how we could avoid investing into something speculative, instead of chase it. If we could, and invest into something that makes sense, then it will definitely end up with a better deal.

Well, not all cryptocurrencies are profitable to hold. Because plenty of coins are just shitcoins without real use case. Hence, buying and holding crypto doesn't necessarily mean you'll gain in the future because it depends on the coins that you chose to buy. Moreover being a speculative asset makes it more risky compared to other investment opportunities (gold, real estate etc.), therefore an investor must know what you're getting into before deciding to invest your hard-earned money. Take time to learn to become aware of what coins are worthy to hold even it takes a long period.

@OP, Generally, there are thousands of cryptocurrencies in the space, and Bitcoin is the head of them all. When referring to Bitcoin, it's better to spell it out; otherwise,  it will be concluded that you are not only referring to a particular cryptocurrency. If you are not also specifically talking about Bitcoin, then you should move your topic to the altcoin discussion board.

One character of Bitcoin is volatility, and that's why it's better to invest in it and hold it in your wallet until the bull market, but if you are investing in altcoins, you should also prepare your mind for any losses you may incur.
To a fault there people that still mistake bitcoin as cryptocurrency in general not knowing that cryptocurrency is made up of numerous digital currency with a different blockchain, just like fiat with different currencies.  One of the asymmetry between bitcoin and altcoins, alts are not definite to mark a bull run or an all time high as many of these coins are projected sponsored by scammers  to defraud investors of their Investment that's why you have to do your study weighing all possibilities before investing into any alt project because character.the possibility of losing is higher than your chances of making a profit with alts due to their pumb and dump character.

The OP's statement is indeed vague as there are so many cryptocurrencies in the market.
Only few of them is worth holding long-term. Users should not count that any crypto can be categorized as such.
And outside this market, there are people who will prefer to invest in tangible assets such as real-estate, precious metal over crypto.
If you happen to be in this market, sure, volatility is your friend to gain profits, however, only few are worth holding.

Since this is your own opinion about this market, is it useful to compare crypto with other markets? Investing not only stops at achieving profits but also creates many other intangible values.
I know the potential and opportunities that crypto brings, but they are not everything, because we all know that this environment contains everything, including risks. I still remember a driving story, if you don't know how to drive when you sit in it, you are betting your life. Investing is the same, and most of those who fail lack the basic knowledge. But that failure is not only necessary, it is also a part of the lesson of the journey to victory.

Cryptocurrency on it's own is a solid long-term investment...
Nah, I don't believe that because it isn't true. If you talk of Bitcoin and a few alts with utilities, I will say that's true. This shouldn't be taken on face value across board for there are cryptos which aren't meant to be held longer than necessary. They will turn worthless in one's hand and one will be bagholding till God knows when.

Come to think of it OP, anything and everything that has to do with business and investment should be viewed as speculative in nature. There's no certainty to where price will go to or how that business will turn out in a few days from its startup or creation. It isn't a crypto thing alone.
Generalizations are most of the time a bad idea, newcomers see that bitcoin, ethereum and ripple have grown significantly since their creation and they mistakenly think that other coins could reach the same level of success, after all they think that if those coins obtained such success then other coins should be able to do the same, but this time will be different as they will be there from the beginning and earn a lot of money for a small investment, so they proceed to invest in those coins failing to see there is a reason the coins at the top are there, and that is because those are the best projects we have on the market, and very few developers have the talent, skill and the perseverance to get their projects to succeed and reach such levels.

When classifying currencies you should be knowledgeable enough to know that bitcoin and altcoin aren't the same in general people may term it to be cryptocurrency whereby you can't predict their prices. Bitcoin is more secure and trusted, it's more reliable than any other altcoin out there so while choosing investment you should mind the coin to invest if not directly bitcoin.
This is one of the most common mistakes we see the newcomers making when they first enter this market, they think that since the term cryptocurrency can be used for all the coins we have on the market then all coins and tokens are created equal, but this is not the case, this is the reason we have the term altcoin to refer to any coin that is not bitcoin, as even if there are a few altcoins that are worth the attention they receive, not a single one of those coins is as good as bitcoin and people should be as careful as possible when investing in them.

The other thing I noticed mostly is people don't care about the kind of coin they invest but are always thrilled by the profit they will make in as a return of investment, this is one thing that lure investors especially the newbies into silly projects without doing their proper research to know what quality is the project token they are making their investment, the name coin has deceived lots of people because they had the orientation of bitcoin so to whatever that bears the name coin gives them this thinking that it could worth like bitcoin without knowing they are just dreaming. I don't think at this my stage and experience so far over here that any projects will possibly come to deceived me with their fake promises, instead I better leave my holding in bitcoin without being lured into fake project/fake coin.

part of cryptocurrencies do not have a long track record through which we can say or judge that they have outperformed assets such as stocks, bonds, gold, and real estate, which have been around for decades, while most of the current cryptocurrencies did not exist in 2013. This huge difference makes the comparison illogical because we are witnessing... A boom in currencies in short periods without confirmation of the general trend in the coming months or years.

Bitcoin is the only one that has had an upward trend over the past 10 years, and we hope that it will remain and maintain this upward trend, but the only truth is that the momentum of the upward curve will decrease over time until it becomes a safe haven.

I will advise you to look more carefully and make your currency selection. Centering your advice and description on the benefits of holding a crypto asset across all crypto currencies is very risky and dangerous because there are a lot of scam crypto currencies out there that should be avoided and not used as a choice of investment in any way.

Investing in crypto currency when you take the right steps by investing right now is a good thing, and it always turns out to be profitable when it's held over a long period of time, allowing the assets to add value as their demands increase.

Investing in gold and other valuable resources is also acceptable. The value might not add up really quickly or it might remain stable in a particular place, but it's better than investing in an altcoin that will turn out to be lavish and wasteful or that hard-earned capital one tries so hard to gather.
His forum rank might only be a newbie but it looks like he knows what he is talkin about. And take note, he is the one that is giving an advice here, not the one who ask for it. What you said here can still be a good addition to what he have said and other newbies who are not aware of these can learn to it.

I think there is a million plus number of cryptos right now so indeed that it's ridiculous to invest all of them even if we say that all of them profitable because how can you be able to handle them all? There are rankings that are made and it measures how each crypto performs. To save time and effort, we can just pick the top-performing cryptos.

Cryptocurrency outperformed because it was new to us for only about 13 years, and during the first period, the value of any asset will inevitably rise from zero to several million, but maintaining and doubling the ATH will be difficult, so Bitcoin will not be able to reach 1000% during the next 13 years because the price will be very large.
Bitcoin has a future due to limited supply and increasing demand, and I cannot say that every Cryptocurrency has value because some of them are either already dead or will die due to lack of activity.

You should put name in what crypto are you talking about because if you are generalizing , sorry to say but there are some that only Shitcoin and nothing to count for.
and also you are posting in altcoin section meaning you are supporting this area instead of bitcoin?
every cryptocurrency is speculative but we can find sanctuary if we are into bitcoin majority than altcoins.
though what you said is almost correct that we need to find best position in this market if we wanted to seek for better tomorrow as these currencies is for the future.

With what you have said so far, I come to the conclusion that you might be confused about what you are trying to say. Well, Bitcoin is also a crypto currency, but I can genuinely tell you that it is very different from other coins in the crypto market, so, please, when you are next to light up a discussion like this, it is better to be specific, on the part of crypto you are trying to talk about, whether it is Bitcoin, altcoin or shitcoin so that one of those coins will not be mixed with BTC when discussing about it.

However, if you are a bit confused about what to invest in, I can say Bitcoin is one of the best crypto currencies for you and others, but other coins can make you get frustrated in the middle of an investment. There are some coins that could get you some profits, although that is now guaranteed, but you can try one of these Bitcoin or Ethereum.

what more can i say? the OP should think not only twice but many times if he will venture other alts other than bitcoin. most of these alts have very short lifespan and so you need to be cautious in buying them especially those new ones. i can agree that if you don't know which coins to invest in, better consider btc and eth first. those top currencies for me are rock solid and won't disappear overnight.
