I will advise you to look more carefully and make your currency selection. Centering your advice and description on the benefits of holding a crypto asset across all crypto currencies is very risky and dangerous because there are a lot of scam crypto currencies out there that should be avoided and not used as a choice of investment in any way.

Investing in crypto currency when you take the right steps by investing right now is a good thing, and it always turns out to be profitable when it's held over a long period of time, allowing the assets to add value as their demands increase.

Investing in gold and other valuable resources is also acceptable. The value might not add up really quickly or it might remain stable in a particular place, but it's better than investing in an altcoin that will turn out to be lavish and wasteful or that hard-earned capital one tries so hard to gather.

Maybe for some crypto it is a solid investment in long term but not all. Due to popularity there are some altcoins or crypto resorted to scam once they get funds of the investors and leave or let the project died. Lucky for those who bought early with the pioneer coins cause the increase is really big and massive especially for bitcoin. 10years holding with a cheap price and now you could rip billions and millions of money.

First thing to observe here is that, bitcoin is what you should be referring to specifically in cryptocurrency, not all cryptocurrencies can have this same qualifications as you've highlighted, if you're a bitcoin investor, you have several opportunities to make your financial assets well secured and profitable, this have to do with how you store your bitcoin from the kind of wallet used and the duration to which you're able to hold your financial asset in other to make it profitable.

OP, it is bitcoin that you are talking about and not just any cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is the one that has the potential to overpower every other assets that has been existing long ago, due to its volatile nature. If you want to invest, you should invest in bitcoin for a long term and don't think of a short term investment because, you might end up running at loss, since nobody can predict the price movement of bitcoin accurately but only with past records and that is why it is called speculation.

Newbies don't know the difference between bitcoin and other cryptocurrency and that is why they can easily be deceived to invest on the wrong coins. Don't be greedy and follow the hype of those other cryptocurrency, since majority of them are pump and dump shitcoins. Only use the amount that you can avoid to lose to invest as a beginner whose faith isn't strong yet in bitcoin.

For me, Cryptocurrency investment is an investment for the future that can be made by everyone today and forever, while for some other investments, as you mentioned, it is an investment that sometimes requires having more capital if you want to get more profits. However, all of this is still good enough for anyone to do from now on as long as there is the ability to do it well, because investment will be quite good if every investor knows how and has sufficient knowledge about it. For example, most people already know about Bitcoin and then invest in it.

@OP, Generally, there are thousands of cryptocurrencies in the space, and Bitcoin is the head of them all. When referring to Bitcoin, it's better to spell it out; otherwise, it will be concluded that you are not only referring to a particular cryptocurrency. If you are not also specifically talking about Bitcoin, then you should move your topic to the altcoin discussion board.

One character of Bitcoin is volatility, and that's why it's better to invest in it and hold it in your wallet until the bull market, but if you are investing in altcoins, you should also prepare your mind for any losses you may incur.

When using the word "cryptocurrency " please be specific so you don't mislead the uniformed. In other words, Saying that cryptocurrency have outperformed most asset classes is actually equivocation because many people have be wrecked by cryptocurrency. This is why it becomes very important to be specific when using that term.
If you say Bitcoin have performed better than stock and many asset classes, it is understood because that is the fact.... many people have had their lives transformed through Bitcoin. On the other hand, Luna and other cryptocurrencies that failed, have destroyed many lives.

I will encourage anyone willing to start building their portfolio to consider Bitcoin that is the pioneer and most reliable digital currency.

But be careful of cryptocurrencies. Some can make you rich and some can be a nightmare for you. Cryptocurrencies are harbouring scammers. You can read about scam in DeFi and DAO and see why you need to avoid some aspect of cryptocurrencies by making proper research. There are many new projects that are mainly created by scammers and some are just pumped and dumped which are obvious scam.

Advice:
There are just few good cryptocurrencies and it is advisable to go for bitcoin. Some altcoins will not reach all-time-high and while many will dump more to almost or lower than their pre-halving price after bull market that is followed by bear market. But bitcoin has proven itself to be a store of value in long term.
