The redditors are dumb, overstock and tigerdirect accept bitcoin albeit not directly, but the guy says you can't buy anything with them.

What do you mean not directly?
They use Bitpay/Coinbase and get the $ instead of risking it and doing BTC directly.

Oh, I don't really think it matters either way though.
It matters a bit, because if Bitpay/Coinbase flop - no support for BTC.

There's is and will be more than those two processors. I'm sure people could just take the coins directly and exchange them themselves. Might even save more fees that way.

What's the worst is when the spell it "BitCoin" or "Bit Coin" or even "bit coin". Like seriously.

why?

BitCoin is okay, a bit weird but acceptable as long as they're giving us publicity and demand Cheesy

Yeah in reality Bitcoin is not really popular.I think hardly 0.25 Million out of 180 million in my country have any idea about it
Situation is same in India . not many know about crypto, most of the people who even know are too hesitant to use it , because of all that negative publicity .

which negative publicity?

bitcoin has been on our national TV a couple of times already and it was always positive Smiley

just a few times they mentioned Silk Road and stuff like that Cheesy

I have researched Bitcon a lot of I still don't understand parts of it and wish I could wrap my head around it but some parts are very difficult.

I think you'd have to be a very bright person to understand it fully. As long as you know and understand the basics that's probably enough.

I understand the basics and the security sides of things but I would like to know more about it and keep reading any information I find.

Keep reading and learning then. Like anything it'll take time to understand, but I'm sure you'll get there eventually.

I concur.  How many people know how fiat currencies work? Fractional Reserve banking?  Hardly anyone on the street knows anything about how that whole system works, yet they're more than happy just trucking along with dollars in their wallet.

They might not understand it now, but I'm sure there will be a point in the future when they wished they'd've tried to get their head around it earlier.

Not many know about bitcoin, but it is also very difficult to find material that helps explain the technical side in layman's terms.  Still, the best thing to do is try to explain bitcoins in simple terms of utility.  Transaction fee's are less than credit cards.  You can send money in 10mins to anywhere in the world.  It is poised for global adoption.  It decentralizes banking, so the fat cats will lose control of the bewildered heard.  All the negative issues(volatility, security, illegal activities) I tend to leave out, because those issues will work themselves out as we progress.  It is important to talk about bitcoin and spread the word, so I still try to get people on board so hopefully they will use it and see the benifits.  I have a feeling that once google and amazon start accepting it, everyone will want to own some.
