We should respect his privacy and leave him alone. There is nothing wrong if he wants to stay anonymous.

IIRC, Satoshi never used the same IP address twice.

I think I may know who ... at least, I know someone who could have written the code (in terms of expertise) and had a good reason to, and who would have, for very good reasons having nothing to do with Bitcoin, disappeared from active development at about the same time as Satoshi did, and who has enough money that he wouldn't need to spend all those coins that Satoshi mined just the same way Satoshi hasn't.

But, y'know, that isn't proof.   Wink  It's all circumstantial.  And I won't name names, because I respect the guy (whether he is or isn't who I think) and he didn't want his name known.

And besides, even if I'm right, nobody's really gonna know until his will is read, and that's more or less as it should be.

I think if Satoshi would want to come out, "it" would have a very hard time convincing people that "it" is the right one. Maybe the computer crashed and no evidence exists any more. Probably we never find out..

What if I'm Satoshi, would you believe me?

Write "I created  bitcoin" in Japanese and I'll believe ya Wink

Satoshi is the moniker used by a group of people who worked within a small, tight knit community. Certainly there are a few people who know true identities, but it's in their best interest to not speak out yet. Think about it... right now, most people only know a little about bitcoin or nothing at all. If the bulls are right and bitcoin becomes a major currency, competing with the likes of paypal and credit cards, a book deal or other projects could net a lot of money for those Satoshi insiders. So obviously, they're just waiting for the right time.

Personal question:  Why is this an issue for you?  Does it really matter?  Just curious.

People post Satoshi threads all the time.  Why is that an issue for you?  Does it really matter?  Just curious.

Satoshi was not a woman.  But his mother was.  She threw away his two computer with all of his bitcoins on them shortly after he died.

lol..... Did he died of a drug overdose, after injecting himself with all the cheap stuff which he got from Silk Road?

i get that people are curious and wonder who satoshi is, but why so much speculation and all? he doesn't want to be known publicly, so just leave it at that. there's probably nothing to be gained by finding out who he is.

I've never understood why there is so much hype around who Satoshi is, if he wanted everyone to know then we would know. It simply doesn't matter.

Because we don't know "he's" a "he" at all

If Satoshi is in reality some kind of NSA or CIA type organization, then I don't want to be supporting it Smiley

who care who he is. the code speaks for its self. if he does work for the government than grats to them for getting something right for once. i always argue that the government doesnt deserve any money because it doesnt produce anything of value. well if they did actually produce something of value than i would be ok with them profiting. if bitcoin was produced by them than im ok with them making money off of bitcoin, its a totally different dynamic than taxation.

Why is everyone so interested in Satoshi is all of sudden?  We don't know who / what he is. Give it a rest guys, please. Asking on a forum isn't going to get you an answer, just dozens of theories, none of which are probably true.

Relax, I was in the same situation. Did't feel comfortable to supporting it because of this possibility. Now since i know who "he" is this is no longer the case. No i won't tell you and you want find any reference locking at my posts. All i will say it is a group.
Now some might remember that i was wrong once before with HD Moore. That is actually a sad case it just shows how soon the gov. had infiltrated this rev. (it took em a week or so) Anyway it don't really matter nothing is gonna stop it moving forward.
There is no benefit for u to know, Relax.

All paid signature campaigns should be banned.
What is the possibility that Satoshi is the NSA or another government agency?

very high

Even if Satoshi == GOV then they did a bang up job when creating Bitcoin.  Using secp256k1 at that time was a stroke of pure genious as it is one of the only curves that can be shown to not have been selected by the NSA and to not have any possible "backdoors" in the crypto.  Bitcoin as a system and on a technical level is brilliant.  Great job Satoshi - whoever or whatever agency you are!  You have created something that will go down in history as the beginning of a revolution, just like when Al Gore created the internet for us.

A government agency, particularly a U.S one wouldn't have released Bitcoin open source and not to be too cocky here but I would have probably sniffed something like that out in a second if more programming savvy people hadn't already, look at how fast everybody bashed ripple when it first came out.

Yeah, who gives a fuck who Satoshi is really? I'm just grateful they came along when they did and fixed the currency problem we've been having, now I can focus on doing things I actually want to do in life in peace Cheesy.

Good point  Smiley I'll rephrase:
I've never understood why there is so much hype around who or what Satoshi is, if 'whatever it is' wanted everyone to know then we would know. It simply doesn't matter.
