I don't know why anyone engages in a discussion with such characters and gives importance to their ideas at all. However, until the new alt terrorist, this discussion is over because the OP got permanent cold storage -> https://bpip.org/Profile?id=3521140

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
All of these are grave concerns.
Theymos even gone so far as to commit major crimes like laundering nearly $500 million dollars.

When the FBI becomes involved, I believe it is best if theymos roll down that fucking mountain and start talking until he can.

A single message from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York would be enough to seize bitcointalk.org.

Think about that for a moment.
Is this supposed to mean that you're just another troll like the former from CW's case?? Like..wtf is your problem?? Are we supposed to have genuine members becoming rivals at some point ?? We've heard enough of your erroneous illustrations but have you got proves for them?...
I've been following this thread for a day or two now .... It' doesn't make any sense when you get registered just to take issues too personal, on a site you know nothing about -- plus, the fact that you get too obsessed on public affairs like this -- Cus alot aren't really complaining and you wanna take the pain and get a sip from a goat's bile? Just so impossible as you can't sue BTT without valid evidence

Ps, interesting choice of name though.
I'm 95% sure OP is just trolling, and his username kind of supports that theory.  These are the kinds of accusations that other trolls have made (and I think cryptohunter was one of them) over the years.

Does the district court in NY have some kind of special powers or something?  I'm not sure where bitcointalk is 'headquartered' or who'd have jurisdiction over any prosecution, but I don't think Theymos operates out of New York.  And I don't think NY courts typically give orders to federal agencies like the FBI--but I could be wrong.

Not that it matters anyway, since this mud being slung is so old that it's hardened into a brown cake and subsequently disintegrated into dust.  LE isn't interested in what internet forums are doing unless it has to do with posting illegal content.

While you can disable JavaScript, this will make quoting on BitcoinTalk impossible, and CloudFlare will force you to enable JavaScripts or deny you access to BitcoinTalk.
~
It doesn't bother him that people who don't use JavaScript can't access BitcoinTalk.

A good VPN with $2.99/mo.

Is that too much for a privacy?

Do you have any evidence supporting your claims? Those are some bold accusations. On topic: use a vps to post on this forum if you are that much concerned, that would
save forum's money.

I'm very angry that this happens because now as LoyceV claims, "there is no money".
By the way, this is also a lie.
Huh, I just read where LoyceV said there's no money coming in.  All donations aside, I thought this site generated a decent amount of money through advertising and/or other means related to web traffic.  I think I recall Theymos telling the community there wasn't a need for any more donations (or maybe somebody else said it).

But even assuming what LoyceV said is a lie, it isn't a lie from Theymos, who's the target of your ire here.  So that's why I'm questioning your claim to any concerns about the use of what funds the forum has; you had no part in the making of that money, so the way I see it there's no justification for you complaining about that part of your rant.

You've probably got all the answers you're going to get, by the way.  This isn't the kind of thread Theymos is going to come down off the mountain to respond to.

I won't believe that you'd bring your ass in here just to illustrate some lame point about something you won't even care to ask questions for proper understanding?? What's the point in your appraisal?? I don't even like participating in discussions like this cus it's not productive in anyway; who knows if you're not one of these usual trolls that shows up everytime? Hmm... The forum has been a victim of this malicious attack (DDOS) and AFAIK, Theymos is been trying alot on his effort to ensure SAFETY in here and that's the only way out.. you shouldn't complain if you've not got a malicious intensions as that can't be dis-engaged.

Don't you find interesting that neither my Tor Browser, nor my non-js Firefox had any issues with Cloudflare? I had to force an "all" posts view for Clouflare to kick in.

I do have a significant problem with CloudFlare, which is most likely due to the fact that my opsec is far more sophisticated than you can imagine.

CloudFlare most likely recognized your fingerprint and now allows you to do things that others cannot.

The rest of us, on the other hand, either find a hcaptcha or a message to enable JavaScript in order to visit bitcointalk.org.

It's possible that you recently solved a hcaptcha that extracted your fingerprint, so when you visit bitcointalk.org, it won't ask you again.

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
I'm not sure why you need CloudFlare when the profit from advertising is more than enough to rent entire serve racks.  Is BitcoinTalk's revenue being siphoned off?
That would also not surprise me.

It's to prevent DDoS attack.

That's part of the reason but I don't know if there's much more CF can get since they've managed to spend a lot of money on making things that'd need Javascript to work to no longer require them (such as recaptcha iirc). At the same time, if they can get other tools to run without Javascript what's to say they can't do that with most other tracking tools they might be using (particularly for anti ddos/legitimate user fingerprinting at least).

I know you come up with this so I prepared this for you:

Do you understand the concept of off-topic? Or I have to report so you can call that your free speech is censored?
Let me clear it up: I don't care of that theory and it's, again, off topic.

Regarding your comments on the quotes, it appears you didn't even read the original topic, which was about CloudFlare making bitcointalk.org inaccessible without JavaScript.

With Cloudflare I do agree. With "cannot quote" I don't. And you've put both in the same topic, although, if Cloudflare doesn't allow you in, quoting is the least of your concerns.
You've put together two topics/issues. I've answered to one. Next time be clearer.
I did quote the part I was answering to. Are you sure you've paid attention?

And in order to avoid Cloudflare kick in too often, avoid reading all the posts of a topic in one go (the "all" button); it could make your life easier.

Tor is now considered to be an infallible tool for blanket anonymity, and to question this dogma means you are “spreading FUD”. This is pathetic.

Quote
I forgot to mention earlier, probably something that will make you look at me in a new light. I contract for the United States Government to build anonymity technology for them and deploy it. They don’t think of it as anonymity technology, though we use that term. They think of it as security technology. They need these technologies so that they can research people they’re interested in, so that they can have anonymous tip lines, so that they can buy things from people without other countries figuring out what they are buying, how much they are buying and where it is going, that sort of thing.

I use firefox-esr and set about:config JavaScript to false.

OK, I'm trying now with Firefox (normal, latest, not esr), also with about:config JavaScript to false. And I've also disabled my add-ons...
Preview is working, I'll also post now. And... it works.

Did it occur to you to try with a different setup, maybe you have set something else in your browser and broke it?

If I had more manpower, then I would prioritize maintaining our own DDoS protection
However, if this is your way of applying for the job, I don't think you'll pass. Work on your anger management first.

Nobody is going to work for free.
I have many reasons to be angry, including the fact that the forum is not mobile-friendly and that it does not work without JavaScript because its DNS is hosted by CloudFlare.

Quote
would have paid for the forum to run on monster servers for the next 100 years, but instead it was spent on fast cars and villas.
Proof it. The forum's addresses are public.

If it was spent as transparently as you claim, I'm sure you could list all the addresses that show the 10,000+ Bitcoin in your next comment.

Quote
Theymos, as far as I know, is currently sitting on over 500 Bitcoin that he claims belongs to BitcoinTalk.
Pick a side: was it spent on toys, or is he HODLing?

Toys and other luxuries.  Yep.

I mean seriously OP, did you donate to the forum?  If not, why in the world would you care about the forum's funds?

I didn't donate, but reading about false promises and tens of thousands of Bitcoin missing is a significant issue that I can't ignore, especially when I'm unable to access bitcointalk because its DNS is hosted on a free platform called CloudFlare, which prevents me or anyone else from visiting bitcointalk without JavaScript.

I'm very angry that this happens because now as LoyceV claims, "there is no money".
By the way, this is also a lie.

I'm just quoting you from Tor browser with Javascript disabled (Security Level: Safest).

I use firefox-esr and set about:config JavaScript to false.
You're either daydreaming or something because quoting doesn't work without JavaScript.
When there is no JavaScript and you want to preview the comment, you must reload the entire tab.

Yes, JS is necessary for the initial captcha, unless you get your ccode from another session. But you really can do this once from somewhere else - if you are interested in your privacy you know this very good. But the rest seems to work fine without JS.
An no, this is not censorship, this is a small price to pay, as part of keeping the forum safe from attacks. If you would have a website, you'd know as much.

You seem to only see drama around you. Take a deep breath, chill, think twice before you write. If you just dump your anger to the forum people will fail to see any usefulness in taking you serious.
Take it as a friendly advice or ignore it.

I'm okay with theymos as our benevolent dictator. Calling him a criminal requires evidence.
Word to the bird, LoyceV.  Not being a computer science major (like many here seem to be), I don't know much about the security/privacy issues involved with using javascript and cloudfare so I'm not too concerned with any of that.  Even if I did I still would have to accept that that's how bitcointalk is structured, and what Theymos or anyone else does with revenue generated from the site isn't my business.

I mean seriously OP, did you donate to the forum?  If not, why in the world would you care about the forum's funds?

Thousands of Bitcoin donated to improve the forum
That was donated many years ago. Currently, there's no money coming in.

Don't tell me those funds can't be used to build a better forum and get the fuck away from CloudFlare.

Give me 5 Bitcoin out of the 500, and I'll make BitcoinTalk the best forum ever without using CloudFlare.

I come to BitcoinTalk primarily to discuss Bitcoin and Namecoin.
What stopped you from discussing Bitcoin instead of forum politics and mud slinging for personal feuts?

The original forum by Satoshi Nakamoto, which was hosted on bitcoin.org until August of 2011, was completely destroyed by con artists like yourself.
I come to BitcoinTalk primarily to discuss Bitcoin and Namecoin.

It's unfortunate that you're treating BitcoinTalk like it's your and theymos' playground.
