All those who talk about 2017 do not understand what happened, because the price has risen madly in that year, but it has risen stronger in previous years, such as 2013 and 2015.
There are no cycles in which the price repeats and breaks all the peaks, but there are price levels that we need for several years to reach.
Bitcoin will be different this year and prices will not be as 2017 but we will not see rises in 2021

What I have learned during these years with crypto is to stop fearing and in the same time to stop expecting, if you do any financial trade or investment just think deeply before hitting the submit order button, once that step is done there's no more thinking, only passionates about crypto will get this point. You can't say that there will be no altcoins season, wait and you will see.

Nothing will be different, the whales know what they are doing, it is possible they have not trapped  people into positions they want the way they do in 2018, What I see is that people are not really dumping their Altcoins unlike 2018 because they believe the time for Altcoins to pump is coming

In 2017 people invested money in all altcoins without checking and there were a lot of scams. Many altcoins did not have any products and usage of their products. That is why it was no demand in tokens.

Now it is very important that tokens will have any useful product. For example there are projects that help to protect the environment.
Here is information https://moss.earth/blog
The more people will pollute environment the more demand will be in such tokens.

Bitcoin is the main hot cake asset right now, as you can see bitcoin dominance isn't coming down at all, it shows that all money coming into crypto are aiming for Bitcoin right now, altcoins won't stand a better chance if Bitcoin dominance isn't decreasing, we may have to wait for long before we see dominance start going down

In order for altcoin season to happen we really need Bitcoin dominance to go down. I think if it could come down to low 50% we would be getting somewhere.

As of now, most of the money is going straight to Bitcoin.

People should expect that things could go on differently, if crypto always repeats its history then we'll all be warren buffet but nah things could always went wrong . The main trigger for bull run back then was the massive ICO that spawning sporadically in which pushing alts forward to get those market dominance.
This time around, everything seems more calm and people are cool headed and not randomly investing to any alts out there.
You are definitely right, crypto will remain unpredictable still, no matter what, ICO era is dead gone and there is nothing doing so good for altcoins right now, IEO is even more quiet than ever so all eye are definitely on bitcoin this time around, many altcoin holders are holding on their altcoins thinking altcoin season will come soon but we do need something to trigger it

Honestly people arent selling their altcoins for Bitcoin this time unlike 2017, how will whales corner the investors? The reason why bitcoin keeps pumping is because new money is flowing into Bitcoin, many are buying, in 2017 many altcoin holders are forced to sell for Bitcoin and whales sees that as an opportunity

To all those saying altcoin season won't likely happen, in January 2018 altcoin season was able to triggered because bitcoin was done for at 19k to 20k at the time, this time bitcoin isn't done yet, you can see that dominance is increasing too, it might take longer than expect, stop expecting history to repeat itself in same ways like 2017
That's possible to happen but I don't expect altcoin bullish trend can happen easily. People were starting to move their assets into the bitcoin and we can see that how ethereum was loosing more and more its value in bitcoin pair.
It's very difficult to attract them all to go back to the altcoins again. There are so many big predictions and the price of bitcoin can easily increasing a lot too.
It seems like we need at least another quarter to see how altcoin will be performing in the market.

I don't expect altcoins to behave like they do in 2017, back then investors are looking to be an early birds of altcoins so they buy a lot of these altcoins in the hope that it's value will increase just like Bitcoin, but they ended up losing money, now investors knows the direction where Bitcoin is going and they know what coins are they going to support.

Yeah, just as your title says. This time is truly different around. Just as bitcoin have crossed $20k then the other alts should have followed it already. And while it's pushing towards $30k, we've never seen Ethereum pushed for $800 but this time, it will for sure. This is no time to waste for stacking more sats while you can. Bitcoin seems not going to stop and if it ever stops, we'll still see a high price by that time. The support that it gets everyday is keep increasing.

Altcoin season could still be 12 months away, we usually see a crazy alt run AFTER the bitcoin top has been seen & it pops. People run into alts when bitcoin is bleeding out after its top. The bitcoin bull run has only just started kicking in, alt season will come of course but could be 6-12 months away.

Alt-coin season in this new year may not materialize or do more than what it did in 2020, alt-coiner don't think Bitcoin increase or not will bring back alt-coin season, I never first hand followed the alt-coin season I was not in the crypto-currency coven yet, but it may just be something that happened and alt-coiners should get abreast with the reality of it not happening as it did.

Altcoin season will also come just hold tight, im sure when btc forms new peak and then settles down at that very point we can expect alt season to take off but seems like we have to wait around 6 months more for that.
