Certainly very painful to lose that much bitcoin, but do not make you weak because of the incident. Be patient because those who commit crimes will inevitably get into trouble in their lives, and you should learn from what you have lost to be more careful and learn to protect what you have in a good and right way to avoid happening again. May you keep the spirit and believe it will definitely get back and maybe more you will get bitcoin through the struggle and new spirit in collecting bitcoin and protect your bitcoin well and correctly.

Heartbreaking to read, but I'm sure he isn't the only one. Storing coins and keeping them safe is hard work - there is always the worry of hackers or other scams out there.

In any case where there are some values, including monetary ones, it is necessary to observe all possible methods of protection. Just people are used to the fact that the money on the credit card protects the bank, the passwords from the mails are written in the notebook, and the pin-code from the phone is your date of birth. Just here, he forgot himself, and suffered. He needs to be more careful in the future.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

If I were him, I would probably spend money to hunt and kill someone who robbed my 103 bitcoin. Sadly for him, when the bitcoin price increased to $ 18,000, he owned $ 1.854 million in his account.

how can you lose that much bitcoin it seems and as far as I know every online wallet that stores bitcoin when making a withdrawal requires verification that is directly sent to you but how can it be lost.

You really have to feel for the guy 103 btc is no small amount to be lost forever. This just adds to the shrinking amount of bitcoins out there.

103BTC is a huge value and that's a total disaster because he can't recover his wallet's .dat file. Maybe he's not so interested in bitcoin before and has given less focus to bitcoin without knowing that bitcoin will be the future gold of today.
So we have to learn lessons from this guy because we have to secure ourselves otherwise, we also will face the same situation on one day. Anyway, we don't have that much huge money with us, but with the money, we have to store them in offline wallets.

I think it happened because this guy did not take bitcoins seriously and therefore did not provide competent storage for his bitcoins, because of what he lost all his keys. But this story is rather instructive, because it makes other investors take a responsible attitude to their money and their storage.

Let's learn from other people's experiences that what is needed when "playing" with bitcoin is the patience, thoroughness and good management of the account and wallet.

Losing that amount of money is terrible, I also lost about 27 BTC last year, my case is that my iPhone got stolen and I forgot to backup the 12 words of MyCelium, I was pretty sick seeing the Bitcoin price climbing very fast at the end of 2017.

Everyone should take care of security and backup storage. Be careful and nothing will happen to your savings. Let the losses of others serve you as a lesson!

of course this is a very sad story, I guess he did not use all the security methods in 2011, many people did not believe that Bitcoin could achieve such a value, But this is a great lesson for us now.

Yeah this is a lesson for us to know that we need to take care our bitcoin, for sure this guy when he lost his bitcoin it is nothing to him before because it's happen past year ago, but now?  For sure he is so sad knowing that he already lose a big amount.

That is terrible. I am always worried that I enter the wrong amount in or send to the wrong wallet. I heard that someone accidentally sold around 40,000 coins for $2 - when each coin was worth around 50 cents each! Ouch.

I think that is the payback, you don't care much about bitcoin and do not take it too seriously back then in 2011, you don't get nothing and don't need to complain that you have lost your wallet now in 2018 that those 103 BTC are worth more than 1 mln dollar.
