It's obvious that the account is alternative account, normally selling of merit is prohibited according to the rules and regulations of bitcointalk community, right now, i think all eyes have to be on the account and also observe very well for his main account were is channelling his main account Smerit, because when looking at this altitude very well it's absolutely abusing of merit system from my perspective or observation, note: all newbies have to take precautions on their post if really they want to earn a merit, the only strategy that make user to earn a merit is posting quality, and understanding before responding to any post.
I believe that only users who are unable to post high-quality are the criteria for users who are most likely to purchase the merit. Therefore, one way of tracking that can be done is by tracing the history of the latest merit transaction and someone will find irregularities there if they find shipping transaction that end in low-quality post. This is my guess that the merit seller will most likely do.

There are so many merits being given each day that it is hard to track each post and find anything which leads to merit buying / selling. We could check only for high number of merits but still we would have no proof. Its some thing hard to track and find.

Good catch but the bad news is that you just rebroadcast his services advert again to keep him in business of scamming those who didn't see the original thread(link down anyway) Op I think the mistake was to include his working telegram link, there is 80% possibility that this thread would get more click and views than the original thread. Imho the telegram link is not necessary.

Do you think that after so many warnings and discussion, people will still approach the merit seller scammer for the merits ? If that is the mentality of the people, then i am afraid it will be their fault if they are scammed or exposed of merit buying.

Sharing a scammer's telegram link should not be a problem. I have opened this thread to expose him and to warn those who are interested in such a deal. If anyone interacts with that user even after this post, it will be very frustrating. Because there has been a lot of discussion here about its bad aspects.

Still, I respect your advice, and I'm removing the telegram link.

The good thing is merit sell thread has been trashed by moderators.

Even though mods deleted the selling thread, i have seen he has created another thread in Digital goods sections.

Perhaps he is getting orders, otherwise why would he keep on making new threads  Huh

It's probably not, but since there hasn't been one like it in a long time it's probably not a horrible idea either.  If there are any newcomers to the forum or anyone else reading this who's thinking about selling merits, this is a pretty good warning.
I think that it's a good one too plus, there should be a mandatory kind of house rules in the forum that any newbie should be redirected or have to read first before engaging in the forum.

Yes, I perfectly agree to this. It will also really be good for the newbies to know that buying merits does not mean they will not be banned, also that they can be scammed. This will truly serves as warning.

I do not think creating a thread for a newbie account is necessary.

As far as the Susianjery22 account is concerned, my guess is that the negative trust won't affect it that much since it already had a DT negative on it from 2019, and that one accused Susianjery22 of having a whole bunch of alt accounts.  I'm pretty sure there are more that were mentioned in the trust feedback, too, since the accounts of farmers are like cockroaches--where there's one visible, there are probably 1000 hiding out in the cracks.

I don't think anyone intends to sell merit they don't have really anything.
It's possible if someone either farmed a bunch of accounts years ago or bought one or more of them that they'd have some merits to sell.  The account in question here registered in 2016, which was well before the merit system existed.  Whoever owns the Susianjery22 account may well have other, higher-ranked accounts from years ago that would have had sMerits airdropped to them in 2018 (and while improbable, there could be some earned sMerits as well).  You just never know.

Sadly there are no rules for merit buy/sell, it's just the same as account farming and selling. The rules about merit sell are limited for merit sources. Merit sources aren't allowed to sell their merits anyway. I don't think anyone intends to sell merit they don't have really anything. So it's just a scam method. The good thing is merit sell thread has been trashed by moderators. I don't know why users attempt to buy merit where they could earn it from here just by little effort.

While knowing that this forum has a lot of members committed to making sure to keep spammers, abusers out, why do so few members act in this stupid manner? There is something strange about some members who will never give up something they love to do. We had account sellers before but when merit system was implemented, we now have merit sellers. Ah, nice! Therefore, action should be taken.

Selling merits is about the same as selling accounts. It's not illegal but frowned upon in the community. I get why people buy them, fast and easy way to rank up, but fast n easy way to screw yourself if caught.

Why risk it? Just improve your post quality and watch the merits start flying in. Heck i'm sitting with nearly 400 merits to hand out. If you're close to ranking up, shoot me a pm and ask that I have a look at your post history. I may toss out a few merits and help out.

The only reason why people buy merits or accounts is their laziness and they do not have skill to write quality posts.

By the way, I am quite close to rank up. Thanks for your offer.  Smiley

My personal opinion about this topic: unless the sale of sMerits involved merit sources or using many accounts (those created by the merit system) is free for you to act in your own merits.

Sell it is something against trust and is better to get a negative trust.
Personally I will not give any negative trust for that (in normal status) because you will need to continue making high-quality topics to continue to get more sMerits and is the primary of the creation of the merit system. start spamming = ban.

There's a big player in this scheme because the accused is a newbie that doesn't have any merits for themselves meaning that the person that is trying to sell merits is probably someone that is confident that he/she won't get caught from it because either the person behind is a quality poster or too reputable to be questioned with how they are sending their merits. Even if this is a scam, there's a likely chance that someone is really trying to sell merits out there.

There is no way to know who is behind this ?  The only way to know that potential high rank account, is to first buy merit from this person and then see  from which account he give merit and then expose that account. The newbie account is just useless and he wont care if it gets ban too.
I am sure no one will risk this and not buy from this person. Leave these scammers on their own and hopefully soon their smerits will be exhausted .  Angry

It's not only on Bitcontalk, but there are also on Fiverr two years ago I used to see a lot of sellers of course not to mention on social media like Facebook groups that are related to Cryptocurrency and Bitcointalk, this should not be tolerated I have seen a lot of users here with very good posts but are not getting merits and poor posts with merits, scammers are the one using this method to stabilize their reputation.

There are still plenty of sellers who are promoting using different ways to sell merit. Most of them make fake claims, in reality they have no smerit. Their main purpose is to scam newbies. And for those who are so eager to buy merit, it is normal for them to be victims of scams.

Yup, he keeps continuing his merit sale attempt even create another topic on different board - Merit Sale (archive)

He will continue to do this until his account is banned. And he will do his best to scam those who are interested in merit buying. I have seen a lot of such users before, as long as the newbies are not alert, these scammers will continue their activities.

This is the problem. They go here in forum to use the account not for discussion but merely for money making. I assume they bought merit for the sake of ranking up and joining signature campaign on some bounty projects. I understand they will proceed with that method but should not done in here. Forum is a sacred place for discussion, hoping these buy and sell of merits would stop any time soon.
It is also very possible that Susianjery22 is not after selling merits, it may be after just to scam anyone that is not acquainted to this forum. Newbies can be easily scammed, many of them do not know about escrow service, while escrow providers on this forum will not likely accept this type of offer, this leaves newbies at the most chances to be scammed. There is nothing scammers can not think about, his/her plan can just be to scam without selling any merit.

Ranking-up and posting good stuff may look easy to you but there are many people that don't even understand what bitcoin is and still want to post here because of the sig camps.

Or you could be right that this person is just working alone.
This is just an assumption. But I am likely confident  that he just work alone.

Quite curious to why have you come up with this. You mean like a syndicate? I believe he just probably bought some account with merits and trying to sell it back.
Not a syndicate but probably you could say it that way since it works that way too but I think there is only one person. But now that you mentioned that it could be a syndicate then there's a possibility that there's more than just one big fish behind all this or some shit. Or you could be right that this person is just working alone.
