Thank you for good advice.
In fact, manipulation is very often in media, politics, economy, everything etc.
Since many very young, inexperienced users invest in the different markets, crypto, Forex, stock markets etc. money they can't afford to loose, they are usually very emotional and afraid to loose.
So, it's very easy o influence such investors and manipulate.

There is trouble abrewing
that is a big problem though. because existence of newbie trader wannabes makes everything that much more unpredictable. so you may think a rumor is worth buying but the newbies panic on that and you think you should sell when the newbies are FOMO buying!

Newbie traders have to learn and start trading properly or get out of that business.
I think that crypto trading is more difficult than stock trading, exactly because of the fake news and manipulation (news and some exchanges too). But as I wrote in another place too, some just came here because they've found some advertising that crypto will make them rich no matter what.

The thing is that because crypto is available to anyone with at least $20
and any exchange is open to anyone with Bitcoin, anyone can start trading
without prior knowledge of what to do.

The availability of bitcoin and accessibility of exchanges combined with
"News" good or bad, true or false is transferred into the market and we get
big price shifts for no apparent reason, like yesterdays slump.

somebody who joins the billion dollar market with $20 is not going to even put a dent in it. most of his money is going to be wasted on fees anyways. the problems is they have much more money that $20 because they don't know what risk taking means and there is a lot of them.

fortunately for us each drop that we had in the past 9 months kicked a lot of them out of the market and now we are no longer seeing any of them around.
as someone once said and i half agree with, right now the market is bots and day traders playing with each other.

Aside the governments, the media is another platform that has the aim to make people to react in certain way. They are capable to control the thought and decisions of people and they are being used by many selfies proclaimed cryptocurrency expert to manipulate the price of cryptos. This is why it is always adviced that you should believe the media at your risk.
The best thing is not to wact TV at all and read a lot of books and educate yourself. Look for information on your own from various sources and draw your own conclusions.

Traders often go by "buy by the rumors, sell by the news" (whether they buy or sell first). And this is okay.
One problem is that there are a lot of trader wannabes that can easily fooled by FUD or fake news.

Another problem is that the cryptocurrency oriented "news agencies" are not as professional as the could be and they can easily publish fake news.

And if you see the big picture you'll not wonder why manipulation does work here and why does it this good.

99% of the things you read from news sites is not written to manipulate! they are publishing those articles to get clicks and earn money from those clicks. they don't care even if bitcoin dropped to 0 or went to $1 trillion. in both cases their source of income is from those clicks aka the traffic they get.

with that said when the community is desperate for seeing positive news to justify the rise that we are having they start publishing positive news and quote people who said "bitcoin to the moon". and when the community mood is otherwise they start quoting those who said "bitcoin is gonna die".
it is more like moving with the wind rather than wanting to cause the wind!
I agree here that media and (crypto media) publish things that will bring them the most site entries and clicks. But that also can be manipulative because they don't seek for the good of others. They seek for their own wealth.

There is a lot of confusion that I feel right now when I hear Price manipulation, sometimes I believe in good news and end up with losses, now I don't care about the many good or bad news that surfaces, one thing I know, the news was made to get income. the news is true or false, it doesn't matter as long as there is money to be made. so I will ignore them because they did not help me in determining the right time to sell or buy.

There are good and bad news all the time, the thing is that those who manipulate the public and in the end the price, make only those bad or good come out in the mass media. That's why it's important to do your own research.

Where is my ring of blades...
lets not confuse bitcoin news and whether they are manipulating the price by it or not with altcoin news and whether They are manipulating the altcoin prices or not. they are two different subjects. a bitcoin news although powerful may not easily lead to manipulation but I have personally seen many cases of  news sites getting paid to actually hype some altcoin so that it can get pumped easier. in this case they aren't even involved with that coin/ICO or its pump or money raised, they are just getting paid to advertise in form of a news article.

yes, this has been happening for long and its a great tool for the users. we all should learn and know when things are real and fake. although all these manipulations are in phases and stages but it will be good if you can use them to your advantage.

For your information the media is also a business now a days they want to earn lot of money so they can be used by the whales to manipulate the prices as well so don't hear about the news while you are investing but at the same time some positive news will crete good impact on the prices like in 2017 if you use them at early stage you can make money out of it.

I wouldn't say its price manipulation, but sort of trying to influence investments mindset. We all know that media is very powerful, and everything they put up whether fake news or not will have a effect on the population. And in addition to what @Herbert2020, some media outlets is back up by someone big in crypto. So I'm not surprised if we read articles shilling for a coin. And the state of journalism in crypto is very bad, they will just present any news without gathering enough information. Garbage and bullshit articles, and sometimes they themselves contradicts one another. So its very important for us to filter everything we read in cryptoverse.

All I know is that I know nothing.
nowadays everyone knows that when you spread FUD there are newbies that panic sell so you can pick up the bottoms and make a lot of profit. so when some of them gain the power to spread the FUD to more people they take advantage of it like the news sites spreading FUD. they too will benefit from a drop.

but the thing is, newbies aren't always going to fall for the FUD and doing this more means people will catch on.

If you are getting something for free, like news of social media, then it means that you are the product. Most commonly these services are monetized via advertising, but sometimes they engage in less open and legal dealings, like selling user data or publishing secretly sponsored articles. So, basing your trading decisions on analysis that you get from free sources is one of the worst mistakes one can make, everyone who starts learning how to trade knows it, but unfortunately many people in crypto don't know even the most basic things, they are drunk on their past profits and think they are naturals.

The media is the right arm of anarchy

they publish anything just because they can. the journalism is dead, fact checking is dead, and a lot of other things in this field are dead. only money matters now. it is not far fetched to think they are trying to manipulate price with what they publish. we have definitely seen many cases of it such as the articles Bloomberg and CNBC publishes about bitcoin every now and then.

I agree, news articles are in the majority written to earn revenue whether is
true or false news, it doesnt matter as long as there is money to be made.

And yes there are a group in crypto space who are desperate for a quick
profit so any sort of news affects them with either FUD or FOMO and they
are infectious. The rest of the group react also to buy or sell at the wrong times
