If ever I did, I would hold on to it and not let go until it original position. It would be a terrible loss to let it go now. But if I really need the money for expenses then maybe take out what partly juts what is needed.

yes, it is not good if we sell right now because we will lose much money and it is better to still hold the bitcoin until the price back to that price again. I cannot imagine what will I do if I have this experience but I can make sure that I won't selling my bitcoin even if I buy at the high price because I believe that the price will increase higher and higher than the price I buy.

Yeah, absolutely, if this investment is not needed but you are worried of what is happening to the market now, having a very deep value. Will the only thing to do is holding, that's the best way to avoid loses of your capital investment so that you can enjoy the long term investment which is good for some people so as you have the experience on that case too.

I have a friend who bought bitcoin during this peak season. When the bitcoin price was 18-20k USD. Now he is sad and disappointed seeing that the current price has dropped to 50% and more and he is afraid he is going to lose all. In short he lost his hope and faith in bitcoin already. Has anyone here did the same as he did? If you did invest in that amount what did you do to your bitcoin, did you sell it or still holding it?

You cant do anything now if you lose that much but to hold and wait for the price to pump.
one better thing to do is to buy not more or same amount that he invested before.
iF he bought bitcoin for 20K usd and buy now at 9000 USD then he will get equal once the bitcoin gain the price at 14,500 USD. that's how PRO do to investment. Never PANIC!

You can't do anythings about it for now but to advice your friend to wait and be patience about it. Your friend was just too hopeful during the high price of bitcoin. He should know that it's volatile and may change it's value anytime. If I were your friend. I will just hold it and wait for the right time until it reach a good value where it would be profitable to sell it.
This is the right advice but just think about you invested in something you do not know much about it and you lost more than half of the value of your savings in just a few weeks and there is no telling when you are going to get that money back, holding will be difficult don't you think? This is why it is really important to buy at the right time those that waited bought bitcoin for cheap and are now making profits.

Bankroll management is fundamental. Go allin is never the best answer. Your friend should have thought about the possibility of s price drop and be ready for put some more money in to buy lower and average the price. But newbies can fall into these mistakes, as I did in the past.

I think there should be a lot of people who buy BTC at this price!

If your friend doesn't have a financial problem, I suggest holding on to BTC.

BTC will go back slowly, now BTC excavation is very difficult. In the long run, BTC price will surely reach a high level of hate!
The problem is that is really difficult to hold bitcoin if you do not really believe in it, I did not had any problem holding my bitcoin and my other coins since I know what I'm doing and I believe the technology will change the world but for someone that just invested to make money then holding will prove to be one of the hardest challenges in his life.

I guess your friend will not invest on bitcoin if he don't have any idea on how bitcoin's value is moving from time to time. He should back track the constant price movement  to calm himself and not do the panic selling when the price trend is going down. Just wait until the price trend goes upward, until it reaches it peak, then try to play with the trend. He will have a greater chances of recovering his losses sooner or later.

We cannot change the fact that even bitcoin has a great value, still bitcoin value is very volatile and we cannot control on its price. This business is like a game that you must learn to be patient. Even me I am also sad because of the fall but still i did not lost my hopes that it is not the end. Bitcoin still offers a great earning but it is up to you if you will panic and sell it right away.

I was kind of lucky, cause I invested around the time the Bitcoin price rate was about to fall but made a little increase before taking the fall this time.  When I invested, the price was around $12,000 and then reached around $15,000. So I withdrew with a profit of $3,000 on each $12k that was invested. Actually I didn’t withdraw everything,  just some of the money I invested,  cause I believe that the price of Bitcoin will rise again,  and it will be soon.

As there  is a dip in the crypto market those who have invested when the prices were $ 18000 to $ 20000 there is no need to panick when the market is down as there is potential for the bitcoins to increase its value with a huge leap in the crypto market. It is quite normal in any financial market to have a hike and then a dip then after correction, the market will recover and the bitcoins have started recovering by March ending or April there are chances for a hike in the bitcoins market. Great investors have predicted that there is a possibility for the bitcoins to increase its value above $ 50000 USD by this year ending which will good for all the investors.

If u hold it, it's a money you can't use
If u sell now, it's a money lost

Sad but.. U might as well just wait for  break even or when you can make more from it
If bitcoin is going to touch 50k dollars in coming days, then it is not bad to buy bitcoin at the price of 20k dollars. In order to make this happen, all they need to do is stay calm and hold on. It is a simple rule of digital currencies world, the longer someone holds his coin the greater amount of profit he earns. Bitcoin has the most potential of increasing the capital. This dip will be over soon like the past ones had. It is common of crypto coins to increase and decrease.

Being a loser is a choice. I think your friend is not losing right now as long as he is not cutting his loss. He will not be losing all his investment if he just hodl. I did not invest in Bitcoin but I still have small amount of holdings. If I were in your friends case of course the best thing to do is to wait and hold. Holding assets in an unstable market makes more sense than doing stupid decissions that will lead us to regret and became stressed or disappointed. I am sure your friend is not aware of the volatility of crypto and he just jump in because of trend or hype.

I dont think ppl are crazy when they entered at 16-20kUSD. It is hard to have guessed that it have reached a peak and a tipping point before the crash. It is only in retrospect that we know it to have peaked then before the correction of the bubble occur triggered by a load of FUDs.

Even though I had mainly injected at 5kUSD in the past, I had also bought in at 8k, 10k, 11k, and 13k too everytime I got my salary after my savings was spent. XD
I was lucky that I decided to take out most of my original capital when it hit 17-18kUSD to lock in my profits and remove the source of “fear” (e.g. losing my original capital) but I had thought at the time it might likely continue to increase as more and more ppl joins in the mega hype, seeing how only a small % of people have gotten into crypto, hence a lot more room to grow. Guess I was over optimistic.

Recently re-injected a lot of my original capital (that was earlier taken out) at 6.1kUSD when it crashed. Didnt know that was the rock bottom too. I though it might go much lower, pehaps down all the way to 2-3k USD as some tech analysis seem to indicate base on trend alone, and I can thus continue to inject more along the way. But soon after that, the price just starts to increase again and stabilized.

The market is pretty unpredictable, and sometimes a bit of luck is certainly needed. But good investment practice and management of emotion (FOMO/FUD) and proper research is necessary.

I had also decided to not hold BTC any more but distribute my investments into LTC, XLM, EOS, NEO, OMG, Waves, QTUM, VeChain, TRON, (having researched on it over again, after the initial FUD when the team was inexperienced), AirSwap (AST), and some still left as ETH, betting for a much greater potential for %gain when the market rebounds. Keeping my fingers crossed. They could very well go the other way too and never recover if something unexpected happens, such as a scandel, or news of overly harsh regulations that may severe impact that altcoin’s long term prospects, etc. the market is changing so fast not too and it is getting so much harder to follow. In the past it was just BTC/ETH for me.

The main rule of investments in cryptocurrencies is to invest funds that you can afford to lose. I hope bitcoin price will reach new heights and your friend will return his money and even make some profit.
But in this case his friend hadn’t invested the money that was above the line of loss for him. It was a unfortunate for him that afterwards prices for bitcoins were started degrading and they showed up like now. But as you have said, he can’t do anything so better is to take a deep bray and don’t panic. Don’t worry, prices are regaining toward the highness and they will surely meet his profit level.

Before January no one even thought about that bitcoin will falldown just like this... Every ones thinking was if it run like this more two week we will be rich. that's why people take a risk and invest with the big capital in Btc. Now its really a bad time for them. I suggest they should now Hold it for long time and wait until the market raise again. maybe its raising slowly but Btc will recover its price again it sure. So be patience and watch.

Advance sorry for my bad English...

If your friend is not stupid, then he will not sell his bitcoins now. Read various topics on the forum, everyone says (and I think so) that you do not need to sell it and the price will still reach new heights and your friend will change his mind. Rest assured.
i have some bitcoin that i was bought in peak of 18-20k$ but im not sad because im completely believe that the dip is just for a short time, and i have seen this for how many times,at the end of the day, bitcoin recovered and make a huge comeback.your friend must be strong enough to fight the feeling of losing instead trust this coin and prepare for income

They just have to hold their bitcoin and wait to recover,
I think there is no need to sell it at a low price specially if you don't need the money at the moment.
You just have to leave it and comeback when the price is back at the price that you want but I guess it would take some time.
