Looking at the forum stats, I have a question.

Why is it that at the time of posting, the total number of forum members is 2984753 but at the same time the UID of the latest forum member seems greater (3000758) Daymaaar
I thought the total number of members should be the same as what is shown on the UID of the latest member.

Two millionth user
Allahabadialt
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/allahabadialt-2000000

It is sad that users do not stay on the forum.

Online now 500-600 people
https://bitcointalk.org/SSI.php?ssi_function=whosOnline

Those accounts are registered as alts accounts with only meaning to be as trophies not a real genuine users. Maybe they could be sold as collectibles one day,  like they are doing with the accounts with ID  below 10000 now. I remember it was a big competition who was going to registered the 2M account a few years back.

Wait for the ALTSEASON to kick in then you'll see a lot more ppl online.

There's one more "premature" three millionth user > https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/3-millionth-user-2999998
Whoever created those accounts he used most likely a script.
All 3 accounts were created without the user logged in, so Last active stays at : Never. THat's why I think only on person controls those accounts. Let's see if he shows up here.

You trying to ninja sneak merits?   2,999,089 is not 3,000,000.  Let's wait for the proper thread.  Smiley
Lol, I merited him because even if the 3 millionth member mark hasn't been hit yet (perhaps by now it has), this thread made me aware of how many registered users there actually are--it's a fact that I don't really care about, but when it hits a level that high it's sort of interesting.

Too bad it's just a large number and doesn't at all reflect on the quality of the membership on the forum.  So many accounts are alts or inactive or are just straight-up shitposters that 3 million is completely inflated if you compare it to the number of members active right now who don't just drop spam like they're throwing a bottle of piss from their car onto the highway.  You know what I mean even if I'm not expressing it correctly.

As it stands, it's the lowest numbers that are the ones to be the proudest of.

Congratulate everyone! We have finally crossed the 3 million registration mark!

It's very ironic, isn't it? Especially considering that this username was registered under number 2999999.  Cool
And hopefully Three Millionth User will answer soon on this thread .. Although I think it's someone's alt.
There were a few attempts I guess and someone saw this username and thought they were late to register the three millionth account. See the 2999998th user- 3 Millionth User
I planned earlier to register but forgot as I was busy with other things.

I believe many will try to register this coveted three millionth ID, so if you suddenly decide, remember that the name "Three Millionth Loser" is already taken.

- And by the way, below you can see a more accurate forecast presented by tranthidung.

So if this parameter (new daily members) won't break it record in 2021 at 11413, the forum will need more than 24 hours (~ 1.47 days) to hit the 3th million users.

Who registered the three millionth account?
Here it is, I think this user is not sleeping because he is waiting for the right time to register himself as a user of three million. Unique ID for the bitcointalk forum account.

1. One million users

2. Two million users

3. Three million users

I'm sure the bitcoin community will continue to grow and so will the number of users of this forum. 11 years 2 months ago(±) was when the first account was registered in the forum (admin). Congratulations to the incredible number of users.

About plots
  • The two plots show how people are more actively creating new users on the forum especially since December 2020.
  • You can easily see this fact from how the boxes explode in the last 3 months (November 2020 to January 2021 - incomplete month).
  • They are mainly or partially come from the SEO-attacks.
  • The last plot (for 2020 only) gives a better visual view, after excludes the extraordinary upsurge in January 2021

As of writing, the forum has 2983322 members totally, according to Stats center

Now, let's go to some available stats and small estimation.
  • Required new members to hit 3th million record: 16678.
  • In median of 16 days in January of 2021 (p50 value in the raw result table): there is 1911 new members daily. The max value is 11413.
  • So if this parameter (new daily members) won't break it record in 2021 at 11413, the forum will need more than 24 hours (~ 1.47 days) to hit the 3th million users.
  • If it fluctuates around the median (1911), it might takes up to 8.73 days (~ 9 days) with the range of estimation based on interquartile range (939 to 4893 that are p25 and p75 values respectively) will be 3.41 days to 17.8 days.
  • To recap, there is a 50% that it would take the forum from 3.41 days to 17.8 days (based on the interquartile range) to hit 3th million member record. The most likely waiting time is 8.73 days (based on the median)

How about daily new posts?

In contrast to daily new members, the statistic for total of daily new posts reached its peak in December 2020, not in January of 2021. Below are some plots and stats. Data interpretation can make in the same way above.

Possible reasons:
  • New members (spammers) are faster dectected and nuked in Jan 2021, so they can not abuse as long as in December 2020.
  • Those members are created and currently inactive, to prepare for future spam attacks.

Recent rises and spikes from daily new members, daily new posts, and woke-up cases probably come from same or different companies. The common thing is they come from spammers or people want to do attacks on the forum, try to compromise the forum for their own jobs.

Total members = 2983267
Total members == to number of registered users correct?
These statistics do not include deleted accounts, of which there are currently 16,117. So if we sum up all archived profiles, inactive and active, we get "Largest profile on Bitcointalk", (2,177,346+651,889+170,047=2,999,282). I suspect deleted profiles are merged with archived ones ... (clarification). In any case, on the bpip website, you can view not only statistics, but use many other interesting features.

Edited: Wow, it's good that someone quickly realized their mistake [****0] .... But I managed to read it and I can say that then the numbers do not converge. Bpip displays 5 columns related to accounts (and as far as I know, deleted accounts did not violate general numerology in any way). Therefore, I concluded that remote profiles should be included in either "Archived Profiles", "Inactive Profiles" or "Active Profiles" (which is unlikely).

I can say that you are sometimes a little aggressive (depending on your mood, I suppose)

True that.   But at least the reason was identified.  Who likes waking up to messages like this?

Do not forget that you will soon have an anniversary 20,000 post, which I think should be dedicated to ...

Leaving scammers behind; I only was interested in the big one that was attacking my family.   I have nice plans for 20k post, but you just swiped the merit I would have got from announcing it!

Knowing you, I can say that you are sometimes a little aggressive (depending on your mood, I suppose), and your "lol" can have different contexts, after all, not everyone is as thick-skinned as LoyceV...

You obviously put time and energy into the post, and it wasn't a simple post first for the merit type thread.
