well this year I don't think if we witness a new high price record of cryptos. The world is on crisis so it's really can not help in the market to grow further.
The crypto market is heavily influenced by news, and when COVID-19 came along, it was getting worse, and the economies of the major countries are currently unable to recover. I think that if there is news about the vaccine, it will surely make the whole world more optimistic and then they will tend to invest more in this market. However, it will take time, and if still not assured, you should sit still observing this market for a while longer. we people are smart enough to know this . we know that covid is not that lethal but the news are just over acting . this is alarming because this makes weak people to be nervous but i wont be really angry because i heard a good news too and that was about the vaccine .
finally this leads people to be motivated and will probably lead them to comeback on this market but i will only be angry again if they will hoard and sell the vaccine at expensive price .

Since this post was made "2018" until now there is no new record in crypto and the highest record is still happening in 2017, I am also not sure if there will be a new record, if I think personally as long as there is crypto the best record will only occur in 2017
If you look the good crypto to hodl for 5+ years, so, yes is still a good time to buy, but if you are thinking in short time, 1-3 months, I think you should think more about it.
Cause of current problems the prices of altcoins are so down and it seems it will still go on. That means it is the best time to buy any coin at a low price and wait for an increased price. But no doubt if you are a long-term investor, it can be the best time for you to collect some altcoins, that is why as you above said it can take a long time for making good profit from your own investment.

I think bitcoin will continue to decline further in the coming days.In terms of technical analysis, I see that the weekly candle is very bad and can extend the bear market about 2-4 weeks.
Regarding bitcoin halving, history has recorded 3 times halving, the price of bitcoin did not increase immediately. about 3-6 months after the new prices began to increase gradually. so it is absurd to pump bitcoin's price from $ 6k5 to $ 10k in just 2 weeks. Nowadays we can see BTC to start rising up and if it will keep rising up, everything will be better than at the moment. That means altcoins will also increase. It is great time to predict the price of some coins and do something. It will be really worth. I think is time to buy bch. As of now bitcoin are increasing the prices maybe in any days will be reach into a $10,000. And yes it was been so long altcoins are not recover yet but halving is coming all we want is to buy trusted altcoins or expecting altcoins that we have are increase the price.

again this depend on you . if your not risk taker and only feel comfortable on the known coins then why look for more unsure investment while others are looking for risk and reward investnment . they know what they will be doing so dont mind them
