your idea is good but I dont think uber will like the idea of you getting tips in bitcoin. Are you in some sort of contract with them?I dont know how they work in your country but here in my country they have deal with local taxi drivers and they have to follow fares set by uber and if some driver charges extra, they revoke their agreement

I do not think receiving tip thru bitcoin breaks any rule. Tips are given out of the generosity of the passenger for the good experience or service. It is besides the fare. If there are a lot of bitcoin users in their community he might get a tip. Otherwise, it is a good way to spread awareness of bitcoin.

I cant  conclude regarding with this  because  its on Uber management  if they  allow this  kind  of thing  regarding  on bitcoin tipping but as you said   recieving tip would  not   break any rules  but  for sure  uber would  get a  percentage  of those tips if they are aware with it.

I started to drive with Uber on my spare time and I am trying to come up
with and idea that promotes customers to tip with bitcoin.

Other drivers say they put a sign in their car that states tips are not included in
fares and are appreciated based on your experience. Maybe I can make
a QR code and post it for them to copy? Any ideas?

You can consider that and see how it will goes. It's free to test and check it after all. Smiley

But anyways those tip will bring confusion since most of the passengers don't know bitcoin much but who knows they will ask you a question about what bitcoin really is and then it's your chance now to explain the basics while driving them in their destination.

You can do that just in case somebody that owns Bitcoin gets a ride from you and to let people know that "Bitcoin" is actually a thing. But if your customer have no idea about Bitcoin, don't even try to lecture them about Bitcoin because they might find it annoying and leave you without paying at all. There's not that much people who's using Bitcoin right now so I guess even if you put that sign, you'll still get tipped with fiat.

first of all, they need their bitcoin wallets to accept a bitcoin tip, otherwise, how could they even get a satoshi? they could just get an address on blockchain or somewhere, then accept it. and yet bitcoin is not yet popular in uber.

I think so. not all those custumers have bitcoins even know bitcoin. so it's a little bit difficult to find some custumers that have bitcoins that can give you tips in bitcoin.

probably you can promote it on this forum, you may find some custumers.

Excellent idea! I haven't seen any Uber driver in my country accepting Bitcoin but I'm sure there are customers who would be interested paying with Bitcoin. The easiest way would be to put your BTC wallet QR code on visible place and for Bitcoin using customers this is enough to know that they are welcomed.  Smiley

Yes this is a good idea and as of now, I never see any Uber driver displays his wallet / QR codes. Smiley Also, this QR Codes can also be put on ID on his/her front like in waiters, bus boy, sales ladies etc. Its a good  tipping idea, and promoting of bitcoin too.

I just cannot imagine the tips in bitcoin, it's some unbelivable. In my opinion it's too earlie to talk about that in the case of bitcoin.

From first look idea sounds nice. But question, does Uber contract rules allows to accept tips, especially in such currency like bitcoin.
And I don't think that you will find many people who would send tips with bitcoin.
Offcourse, If I will see uber driver who accept bitcoin as a tips, I would send him.

Uber won't just deny bitcoin tips, they as an internet company should understand the need and desire of online payments for either tipping or paying for goods and services online. If they are smart they will soon accept bitcoin next to other payment options, because this way they can attract a whole kind of audience.

Put the youtube video about bitcoin and have a QR code sticker on the front of the case.

A QR sticker would do but if you would like a more permanent solution you could install a case holding a tablet or a plaque on the head rest of both front seats so they will be facing the customers riding in the back. Something like this would do the trick:

I would put a tablet in there running a Bitcoin tutorial and how people could send you tips. With your QR code in there of course  Wink

You should probably stick sticker "Tip with bitcoin" and so on with barcode, near the customer either in a window or on a chair.

probably like this :

source : Uber Drivers Get Creative to Accept Bitcoin Donations

I can already see a clever scammer, secretly sticking this behind the head rest or seat of a unsuspected driver, and taking all the tips for himself. It

would be better if this sticker was placed on the dash or the roof, so that the driver would be aware of it.  Roll Eyes ... I guess this could be traced back to

the person, who did this... but who will go through all that effort? Still a great idea... someone should carry a sample with them, to show these

drivers.  Wink

Wish Uber was settled in here but legal issues seem to be hampering their setup.
Our Taxi drivers are the most annoying people chanting religiously, blasting Indian music,robbing/raping drunk people and always working a angle to rip the customer off. Yet they can lock you in as well, which makes no sense.
The licenses are worth a lot of money and I think the taxi lobby is really putting the squeeze to keep Uber out.

Some form of sticker that is at eye level would be the best trick as most have already pointed to.
Or even ask me about bitcoin sticker,it would open up discussion for those unfamiliar or slightly interested.

cool idea but not many people seem to want to part with their bitcoin. it hasn't gotten past the hoarding stage for many and might not for a long time to come, if ever. if I came across it then I would so I could feel futuristic.

I think it is very good idea, and it will give more exposure for bitcoins as all new customers will come to know about bitcoin and its technology and its benefits. But their will be one more problem of using in some country where bitcoin is illegal or no idea then i think this idea wont work for them.

In my country bitcoin is still in no idea of legal or illegal so we cannot implement it.

I have never seen anyone in real life that knows what bitcoin is in my country, so I would not expect any of them to know or have any means to accept bitcoin on their phones and they will probably not want to get bothered and just ask for cash, but once governments remove cash they will regret not learning earlier.

This would be the  best way that uber drivers should do  if  they  want to be  tipped  by means of bitcoin.  It would  not  be bad at all but it really depends on which country do you  live if bitcoin adoption is high then for sure this  thing would  be  implemented  easily compare to other  places.
