You're ridiculously trying to lengthen your post. Correct me if I'm wrong, are you doing a signature bounty, which requires 10 - 15 posts (>100 characters) per week?
Your post history shows me that both of you and the guy you argued with have the same thread's format.
What is this, bro.?
Are the coincidences here?
I don't make any judgement on your case, but in the topic there are lots of users complained about your threads' quality.
I think, it makes sense.

Hi everyone,

Hi,

I thought about creating a similar article recently and I've merited you. Wouldn't it be better placed on the newbies beginners and help board?

Certainly, it will be . It is evident from the fact that no newbie has posted a comment here so far. In fact, I hardly see a newbie making a post in meta (unless we count those on crying about merits).

lol, I was clicking your images trying to remove the highlighted text. Took me a second to realize it was just a picture.  Embarrassed

It's easy to notice that but sometimes it's time-wasting deleting irrelevant words, so I just click on quote. Btw, I wish there were a "Multi quote" button for easy multi-quoting.

Perfect timing for me to read this. Someone in another post showed me a quick shortcut to sort of multi quote. It isn't perfect, but it works.

If you are lazy here, you can never rank up again.

Being lazy is not a good attitude especially to forum's, by doing that you will be belong to those spammers because there are "trash" to your post.

Its is not hard to select the irrelevant words and just click delete.

Being LAZY wont help you to grow.

I agree it is increasingly annoying to see posts that have endless quote hierarchies. I think some people are increasing lazy or simply ignorant when posting. It's a good thing we have the merit system in place right?  Grin

...
And IMHO, this should be moved to Beginner and Helps, isn't it?
Yes, you are spot on! Smiley Beginners and Help is the right location for this post.

    Agree!
I will consider your suggestion and adjust my threads a bit to make it less annoying ^^.
  • I suggest you to resize the images to mismatch the default size of the forum's font by addding "width=size"
    ex: [img width=800 alt=image]picture.jpg[/img] .
  • Make use of bold, italic and underlines for headers and for emphasis. [hr] for breaklines with actual lines.
  • And crop the image that contains a signature add, I think that one might have broken a forum rule.

Lastly, this must be placed to Beginners and Help if this is really a "tip for newbies".
Otherwise, you can change the title with "Members", "Forum Members" or others; most of those "scroll-wasters" aren't newbies anyways.

Nice tip, my friend.
I will do it later (in the next few days when I have time).
Thanks for your helpful suggestion.
And small tip from me. When you're quoting post with image, delete tag and leave only link to image.

I will consider both of your suggestions, and choose the best for my adjustments.

It's a great suggestion,  and not only for newbies, many more experienced members over-quoting posts. In past I also did same thing - I posted huge quotes despite that I only replied to last comment. I thought it's ok because I saw so many experienced members posting huge quotes. And only later I realised how it's annoying and not comfortable to read.
And small tip from me. When you're quoting post with image, delete
Code:

tag and leave only link to image.

So your time is more valuable than all of the other members who have to read your bloated posts.
Well I've got news for you, it isn't, so you just get put on ignore. This means that you could have saved even more time by not psting in the first place.

Forum rule explicitly says that quote pyramid should to be avoided, and I think most people in Meta already know this thing.  OP, you may want to move this thread to Beginners & Help.  Use "move topic" link at the left bottom of this page.

1. Such posts like "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

Unnecessary quoting are used for spamming, do you think that other members of the forum are not aware of that "to look like a long post" spamming? Grow up child, contribute to the community, try not to become one of thist shitposters.

I will not go against this but, the OP's format is giving me headaches.

Here're some of my points:
  • The images blend well to the text (width=1280 screen), to the point that the whole thing looks like pure text with broken paragraphs.
  • There's an add or signature add in the first image.

To help you with this:
Notes:
The topic has been under-constructions

Lol, you did it simply because you would like to spam, not have willing to contribute to the forum with constructive, high-quality, or at least well-quoted threads.
Let's change your mindset and your approach when composing your threads next time.
It's easy to notice that but sometimes it's time-wasting deleting irrelevant words, so I just click on quote.

yeah, multi-quote (are you serious). Is it necessary? The current one has already helped you to over-quote (or multi-quote, called as another term).
Will this one which you suggested make you feel easier to spam the forum?
Btw, I wish there were a "Multi quote" button for easy multi-quoting.

Personally, I thought that this information should have been known for a lot of users who participated in this forum (or other SMF-based forums). Let's just hope that they won't be lazy again to do your tips.

And IMHO, this should be moved to Beginner and Helps, isn't it?

TIPS TO AVOID PYRAMID QUOTES

Hi everyone,

In my opinion, over-quoted threads are amongst the most annoying types of shitshows in the forum. Honestly, I used to compose such over-quoted threads, but over time I saw better threads from higher-ranked members, then I learnt from them and improve my threads' styles.
In the topic, I would like to present these following stuffs:

  • To share with you some necessary tutorials on how to improve your threads' appearance by avoiding over-quoting when composing them.
  • To save more space and help it more comfortable for readers, all images will be shown with links. Therefore, readers should click to those links to see them.

For now, your question will be "oh, what are the problems of over-quoted threads?"

As you can see in the following thread, creator over-quoted past threads, which result in vague of idea flows. Furthermore, doing this also causes their threads a bit messy, annoying. Looking at those threads, it is hard to know which specific thread they wanted to discuss (dozens of threads quoted).
https://i.imgur.com/6uL9h6A.png
Additionally, such over-quoted threads also require large space to display. It means my fingers hurted too much to scroll my computer mouse. And no one is responsible for my medical bills  Grin.

To improve threads' quality, at least its appearances, there are three basic simple steps composers should do:
1) Deleting all un-necessary stuffs (including threads, contents, over-sized images attached, etc.). Only keep which threads (full contents of those threads) you want to discuss with.
2) Using snip to announce that in your thread, you only quote part of original contents of others' threads.
3) Seperating original threads to different smaller sentences/ paraphrases which you want to discuss specific part of its contents with your specific ideas.

So, if you spend time to read, and interested in the topic, your next question might be: Oh, sounds great, but how to do this?
Here you go:
Please look at the following images, then you will know how to do this.
I present three ways of avoiding over-quoted threads for you, which correspond to the three points I mentioned above.

1) The first way:
For the specific thread above, please click on the quote, then deleting all contents in the blue highlighted range (which I show you in the two following images).
From there:

To there:
https://i.imgur.com/pi7Iwkg.png
Case study here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.32182737

2) The second way: if you would like to hide all contents which are extremely long (but still allocate which thread you want to discuss). Please do like this:
https://i.imgur.com/foveK5R.png
Replace all contents by using ~, snip.
Code:
~
or snip
or < snip >
Case study here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.35410681

3) The third way:
For instance:
https://i.imgur.com/gD8uQxm.png
Additionally, if you only discuss with one thread, you should ignore link to the original thread since the second part of quote, you can do like this (simply using):
Code:
[quote]
contents
[/quote]
to ignore link to the original thread
Case study here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.36883745

To sum up:
Composing your threads with the approach will make them have better appearance. It does not relate to the quality, but somehow makes your threads look a little bit better.
It is not only useful in the Meta board (and other serious ones), but also has good impacts in spamming boards (like altcoin discussions, etc.) ^^
I strongly believe that lots of higher-ranked members don't know how to do this because they luckily ranked up to those current high levels due to old rank requirements, before the lauch of merit system.

Sorry if my topic hurts your fingers, but I think that it's better to display those images to make the topic easier to understand.
This is valuable lesson I learnt from my experiences, so I would like to share it with someone who need it, and has still don't known how to do it.
For someone who known, just ignore my topic.
Please take it easy, because I don't want to bother you with my topic.
