so people, stop bitching and contribute..
hopefully this will encourage some of the newer members to stop moaning and start getting with the program

Greetings to @TMAN. sorry for a little suggestion from me for bitcointalk members, to the challenges of posting and Merit achievements, which want to give by: Mester @TMAN.

In life at the Bitcointalk Forum, members are always faced with a situation where members must compete with other members to get something, for example: rankings, posts, Merit and there are bitcointalk members who are more knowledgeable, well, this is a situation where bitcointalk members must compete for get the best and the best to get rankings and Merit.

The key to winning a challenge is to focus on the best potential that you can prove, so that finally @TMAN assesses and acknowledges that you have indeed proven superior and @TMAN chooses you or gives achievements that @TMAN offers, for those of you who post here.

The very bad concept is when you want to win the competition and come to your mind that you have to defeat the other members. Your focus is on other members and not on maximizing the potential of your posts.

Let's think smart and have the right thinking concept that the challenge of @TMAN to take one of the bitcointalk members wins the competition posting or whatever competition you are facing, refocuses on developing quality by maximizing your potential and proving to @TMAN that you are indeed superior.

There are 3 factors that you must avoid when you are in a time of challenge or competition, including:

1. Too demeaning the ability of yourself: where you feel inferior, pessimistic, and excessive low self-esteem, so you can not even see that your mind has given you unique abilities or potential that you can develop better and better, in the end to be superior.

2. Underestimate the strength of competitors or competitors: something that is wrong when you feel great, feel smarter, so you underestimate other members, and become less alert. Again focusing on other members or focusing more on what other members have is not the right way to win the competition.

3. Bad luck with competitors or competitors: something you have to avoid is the bad intentions that come to your mind to defeat competitors by damaging the good name of bitcointalk members. When we vilify other members, it actually shows your fear or anxiety that is negative or destructive action which actually shows that you are bad not your competitor. Forum members who have superior competence have no time to devise a cunning strategy to hinder other members.

So, once again, I suggest to the bitcointalk members that the smart way to win a competition is to focus on developing the quality of yourself and maximizing the potential of the posts that are said by @TMAN.

Be superior because you are confident and believe that @TMAN has provided superior seeds / Merit. Realize, trust, and develop it into your intelligence to win this competition.

Greetings of victory.

I think the idea is good, but I would like to offer a suggestion to expand it.

In theory Tman shouldn't need to provide any merit points. If the system is working, then 30 good posts should generate 10 merit points anyway. Now no system is perfect, so it may be that a good new poster needs a few points to top up his credits. If Tman put his points into a pool, and just used the points needed, he could expand this to help more than one poster.

that's the whole idea... if someone has tried hard and then re posts in this thread, I will give them 10..  if there are multiple people then newbies actions will be seen by other members who have sMerits. I will save 50 of my own so I can honor what I have offered here a few times and any more I get will go into the pot.

people are giving me merits for doing this so I need to pay it forward.
That's very generous of you because sometimes i do go back on some of the history posts in bitcoin discussion and you could see quite some relevant post that deserve merits but due to the rampant "shit post" that are are being displayed in this forum such comments and post are not seen. I guess this would help all forum members who want to contribute to the growth of this forum also have a chance to rank up. All the best man!

I was going to give you a couple of merits for one of your posts, but I have the trading boards on ignore, so I wasn't able to do this. Many merit sources have been forced to put whole boards as well as members on ignore. If we didn't do this, then we wouldn't have the time to look through the remaining posts to award merits. Hopefully a source who is active on the trading boards will find you.

It is actually just one letter, but because new genuine users might read the OP and confuse themselves if they does not know about it already, you should do it immediately.

That highlighted zero (0) needs to be changed to one (1) according to the new changes.

That's still ok, new genuine user will not be having 30 activity and old newbie confusing itself means that user is not reading things properly.
(Whatever Theymos written that need to be taken, no need to getting confused with anybody else.)

Sad thing is that no "newbie" responded to this challenge, even I posted about this challenge in "Beginners and Help" board in one of my post and almost a week passed since this challenge is opened.

Not sure, whether it is the implicit nod from them that they know they are in shitposting and in no mood to change.

ive unlocked this as its relevant again right now, if I only get pajeets I will lock again. "if" I get some newbies who want to put some effort in, then ill leave this open for a while.

Good news for potentially constructive new members.

I think you need to edit a small thing in the following part of the OP. It is actually just one letter, but because new genuine users might read the OP and confuse themselves if they does not know about it already, you should do it immediately.

this is the new structure..

Rank   Required activity   Required merit
Brand new   0   0
Newbie   1   0
Jr Member   30   0
Member   60   10

That highlighted zero (0) needs to be changed to one (1) according to the new changes.
You would have figured it out yourself maybe, but since I saw it unchanged until now, I thought I should inform you so that you do it ASAP.

Is this thread active like before, does TMAN continously monitors those new members in the forum to give sMerits? I would love to know. Thank you because I applied before and become inactive because of shoolworks. THANK YOU

You're not going to receive any merit if you don't have any basic investigative/researching skills. Look at the post right before yours. It was posted 3 days ago. It was merited by TMAN. Which means, yes, TMAN is still actively monitoring posts, at least here. Maybe you should focus on school for the time being; there seems to be some more educating that needs to happen Tongue

I was interested in earning a merit to rank up. At least I could join some signature campaigns that we junior members and newbie are not allowed to. I never thought it was this hard to just earn even a single merit. I suddenly felt hopeless and maybe I will be left alone as it seemed too difficult to be accomplished. Ten merits going up is so high to reach. I got only two. Hopeless about such but am still giving it a try. Maybe this is just a piece of junk post but its up to anybody now. Maybe I don't always deserve it. Just want to know if I lacked something that should be said. Maybe you can help me out create a better reply. Thanks! May you always have a better day after reading it. Don't worry I can accept any bad comment for this. Thank you and more blessings to you in return.

Maybe you should stop posting in threads that have 127 pages of content before your post. That's a sure sign of a shitposter.

Just because your post is long doesn't mean it's good.

- snip -
merit give away threads.
- snip -
The more of these threads I read, the more I realize how disgusting this is. These threads all look like older members bullying around the newcomers, because 90 % of the comments are something like "Sorry, I don't like you, you get nothing".
- snip -
Everything I say goes towards 99% of the merit give away threads I have seen.

You do understand that MANY people are giving away merit without using "give away threads", don't you?

Have you taken a look at my merit policy (link in my sig)?

I think they should have only two requirements: 1) be on the subject 2) make some sense in expressing the thoughts of the author. This forum is about bitcoins, remember?

While I generally agree with you, I feel there are two more requirements.

1: The post must add something to the conversation. A post that simply copies or restates something that has already been said in the thread doesn't deserve merit unless it adds something new to the conversation. (copy/paste is just graffiti making a mess of the thread and making it impossible to find the actual thoughts and questions.

2: It must appear that the poster put some thought into what they were saying. Posting complete nonsense should not earn merit eve if it is "on topic".  As an example: A thread that asks "What is the maximum amount of bitcoins that will ever be created?", and someone replies saying "I think there will be a total of 10 million, and they will be done being created in 3 more years. That reply is technically "on topic", but it definitely does NOT deserve any merit.  The creator just made up some nonsense and created a post.

I'm back to rant on about the fairness of the merit system. Should rename the thread to TMAN's literacy awards  Grin
I was just reading on the thread about alt accounts and the more I read, the more humiliated I felt about such merit give away threads.
There are old accounts just sending 10 merits to numerous alts, achieving member status in a snap for their signature bots, while there are real non-alt intelligent people in such threads going out of their way to prove that they deserve member status. Wish I had unlimited merit so I would award it to real people who actually contribute and write decent posts. I don't think the posts should be award-winning, I think they should have only two requirements: 1) be on the subject 2) make some sense in expressing the thoughts of the author. This forum is about bitcoins, remember? Not an English literature class. You don't have to be a major in literature to receive merit, seriously. The more of these threads I read, the more I realize how disgusting this is. These threads all look like older members bullying around the newcomers, because 90 % of the comments are something like "Sorry, I don't like you, you get nothing". Nothing personal TMAN, I just like your thread most, so I decided to express my feelings here. Everything I say goes towards 99% of the merit give away threads I have seen. I am still thinking about how it should be done and maybe in the end I will make a constructive proposal on the merit system change.

I don't agree with the above, but It did make me look at other posts by you and I gave you another merit. All I can say is give it some time, once all the Pajeet shitposters leave the forum then merits will be spread in a fair way. until then you will need to take some time to read more and try to be positive about the situation

I keep reading but don't see anything decent. If anyone senior sees anything I am missing out here please let me know

No worries, thanks for considering me! Though not ALL my posts are about gambling, heh. Like this one!

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.31084755

I guess a key distinction I'm wondering is if you really aren't finding any "constructive and relevant posts" as stated in your original challenge request or is it more the necessity of finding quality posts that are ALSO of personal interest to you? Your response to my post made me think it was more the latter than the former, but I could be mistaken. It's also your challenge after all so it's completely up to your discretion.

I only ask because at least one other member has a similar challenge, but requires that the posts be about his/her particular areas of interest. Not sure if that's what you ultimately wanted in your own.

I don't understand gambling so it is unlikely that I will merits posts there. As for the post above yea it's cool but if you had used search then you would see multiple other similar threads.. quality is also avoiding duplication

Did I understand this wrong, wasn't this a "monthly" contest?
It's march and I have not seen a new list by TMAN.

Maybe nobody here has earned his merits yet?

TMAN THE MAN. I like you already, not here for your smerit's though.
Maybe no other person ever particularly mentioned this to you, but: the way your honest self works is really f****d up.
?

Speak proper English please or GTFO. What does that even mean in English? Tongue

Hey It looks like this thread is still rollin, so I am a native english speaker and i am down to try to win this thing for sure. Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is kinda my passion now, and I found work at a crypto so i could pursue said passion. I appreciate you for offering this reward.. You sure as shit didn't have to.

Sounds like a potential candidate. TMAN, you need help evaluating pajeet posts etc, let me know? Cheesy
